SAP HANA CLOUD PLATFORM Gamification Service: Onboarding and Using the Sample Application
Michael Ameling, Moya Watson / SAP SE Description In this exercise we’ll enable the Gamification Service in your free HANA Cloud Platform developer account and subscribe to and demonstrate the included gamified Help Desk sample application. Gamification Service: Onboarding and Using the Sample Application
Step 1: Enable the Gamification Service

1. In your Web browser, open your cockpit on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. The link is https://account.hanatrial.ondemand.com/cockpit Go to the Services tab.
2. Scroll to Gamification Service (BETA) and click Enable to enable the service. A Gamification Service subscription is now assigned to your account.

Step 2: Verify or Configure Roles (Optional)

The roles required to access the Gamification Service are automatically assigned to your user when you subscribed to the service, above. To verify or configure roles:
1. Click Configure Roles on the Gamification Service.
2. Verify the following roles are assigned to your user:
• AppStandard • AppAdmin • GamificationDesigner • TenantOperator • Helpdesk
3. Assign AppStandard,
AppAdmin, and helpdesk to other users as required (optional).

Step 3: Configure Destinations

The destinations required to use the Gamification Service are automatically created when you enable the service. To use them you need to enter user credentials.
1. Back at the HANA Cloud Platform Cockpit, click on the Destinations tab. Important: Do NOT click the Destinations button on the service itself. Two destinations are listed:
• gsdest • gswidgetdest
2. Click the Edit button to open the gsdest destination for editing.
3. All fields are configured by default, but you must verify your user name and enter your password (replace the password mask), and click Save. Use your SAP ID user and password (same as your SAP Community Network user).

Step 4: Generate Demo Content for Sample Help Desk Application

A subscription to the sample Help Desk application was automatically assigned to your account when you activated the Gamification Service. To generate its demo content:
1. Go to the Services tab in your HANA Cloud Platform Cockpit.
2. Click Go to Service under the Gamification Service (BETA) listing. The Gamification Workbench opens.
3. Go to the Operations tab, scroll to the Demo Content Generation section, select HelpDesk in the Demo Concept dropdown, and click Create, then OK in the pop-up window. The sample application begins generating. When generation is complete, you will see the message "Gamification concept successfully created."
4. Select the Help Desk application by choosing HelpDesk from the drop-down box in the upper-right corner.

5. Go to the Summary tab. 6. Verify that Help Desk sample
application game mechanics appear.

Step 5: Use the Sample Help Desk Application

1. Still in the Gamification
Workbench, select the Help link in the upper right corner.
2. In the Help screen, select Open HelpDesk.

The home screen of the sample Help Desk application appears.
3. Select continue…
The Help Desk appears, pre-populated with questions in your queue.
4. Customize a response in the Your Response field, and click Send Answer.
• Verify that points are assigned according to the game mechanics algorithms defined in the application.
• Demonstrate that answering
critical tickets – those designated with a red border – earns you additional points.
• Demonstrate that you earn
badges by gaining more points and continuing to work with the demo content tickets.

To see your profile, select your name in the upper-right corner.
Your profile is displayed, including your missions, badges, and activities. You can even customize a profile picture for demonstration purposes.
