    SCAD is committed to the ideal that academic pursuits

    should be the top priority or all student-athletes. The

    university competes at the intercollegiate level in cross

    country, track and eld, equestrian, gol, lacrosse,

    soccer, swimming, and tennis.

    Initially a member o the National Association o

    Intercollegiate Athletics rom 1987-92, SCAD then

    transitioned to Division III o the National Collegiate

    Athletic Association. The SCAD Bees sent 20 teams

    to NCAA postseason competition between 1996 and2003, and every SCAD athletics team logged a winning

    record during the 2001-02 season.

    Beore the start o the 2003-04 season, SCAD renewedits membership with the NAIA and now competes in the

    Sun Conerence (ormerly the Florida Sun Conerence).In Fall 2010, SCAD Atlanta began competing at the

    intercollegiate level in NAIA mens and womens cross

    country, soccer, gol and tennis.

    In recent years, SCAD Savannahs athletic teams havebeen ranked among the nations top 25 teams. SCAD

    athletics has established an outstanding legacy byrecruiting talented student-athletes and elding teams in

    the tradition o excellence or which SCAD is best known.

    The mens and womens swimming teams once againcompeted at a high level during the 2012 NAIA National

    Championships, securing eight national titles with our

    o those swims setting national records. The mens and

    womens swimming teams have won a combined total

    o 39 national titles.

    The equestrian team captured its eighth Aliated

    National Riding Commissions National IntercollegiateRiding Championship team title in 2012. The equestrian

    team has won 31 ANRC and IHSA national titles.

    The womens lacrosse team won the 2012 National

    Womens Lacrosse League (NWLL) National

    Championship in its rst year o membership as well

    as earning NWLL Coach o the Year and Player o the

    Year honors.

    Each year SCAD student-athletes have been recognized

    locally, regionally and nationally or excellence in the

    classroom as well as in athletic competition. Through

    a combination o academic, artistic and athletic talent,

    dedicated teamwork, and the guidance and experience

    o a remarkable coaching sta, SCAD has created a

    winning tradition.

    Opportunities or athletic participation also existthrough the vast oerings o the universitys intramural

    programs, including volleyball, basketball, fag ootball,

    soccer, sotball and various other activities.

    Doug Wollenburg takes over the reins o the SCAD

    Savannah athletic department as the director o

    athletics ater completing his 11th year as head baseball

    coach at the Savannah College o Art and Design.

    Over the past 11 years, the SCAD baseball programhas averaged 27 wins per year. SCAD is one o only

    two colleges in the Sun Conerence that has nished

    in the top our during the last six seasons, and the

    team has earned a trip to post-season tournament

    play seven out o the past eight years.

    Under Wollenburgs guidance, the SCAD baseball

    team has produced 13 Academic All-Americans, 25 All-

    Sun Conerence players and six NAIA All-Americans.Three players have been drated by Major League

    organizations. SCAD baseball has been honored asan NAIA-Daktronics Scholar Team in 2010, 2011 and

    2012. In 2009, SCAD baseball nished with a school

    record 39 wins and ended the season ranked 22nd in

    the nation.

    O the eld, Wollenburg and the Bees have also

    been involved with the Down Syndrome Societyand Bethesda Home or Boys within the Savannah

    community. Wollenburg earned his bachelors degree

    rom and played collegiate baseball at The Ohio State

    University. He was drated by the Atlanta Braves and

    played in the Braves arm system or our years, playing

    his nal two seasons in AA Greenville. Wollenburgearned his masters degree rom Caliornia University

    o Pennsylvania.

    Robert Belloir began his role as sports inormation

    director or SCAD athletics in 2011.

    He joined SCAD in 2003 and has served as coordinator

    o graduate studies, director o graduate student

    involvement and assistant vice president o studentservices. A native o Atlanta, Belloir attended Mercer

    University, where he was inducted into the athletic

    hall o ame or basketball and baseball in 1975. In

    1969, he signed a proessional baseball contract

    with the Cleveland Indians. Ater a season-and-a-hal absence due to a tour o duty in Vietnam, where

    he earned the Army Commendation Medal, Belloir

    returned to baseball in 1972. Three years later, he was

    traded to the Atlanta Braves and saw his rst actionin the big leagues that same year. Belloir nished his

    career ater playing our seasons with the Braves.

    P A T R I C K R E A G A NHEAD COACH

    Patrick Reagan joined SCAD in 2011 as assistant

    coach o the SCAD cross country and outdoor track

    and eld programs and became head coach in 2012.

    A record-breaking cross country runner at Slippery Rock

    University, Reagan was named an NCAA Division II All-American in 2007 and 2008. He placed as high as 12th

    place at the NCAA Division II National Championship.

    Reagan qualied multiple times or the NCAA DivisionII Track and Field National Meet in the 5,000- and

    10,000-meter run.

    Patrick holds a personal best time o 14:25 in the 5K.

    He also has personal best times o 24:05 in the 8,000

    meters and 30:05 in the 10,000 meters.

    Reagan graduated rom Slippery Rock University in

    2009 with a B.S. degree in exercise science.

    SCADs cross country teams have reached the NAIA National

    Championships each year under head coach Michael Sergi.

    The mens team nished as conerence runner-up three years in arow, and the womens team nished as conerence runner-up our

    consecutive years.

    nearly all SCAD records in the last two years.

    DIRECTOR

    R E B E C C A E V AN S

    Rebecca Gay Evans, D.V.M., earned her bachelors

    degree in religious studies rom Davidson College

    and a doctorate o veterinary medicine rom

    University o Georgia, graduating cum laude and

    completing a coveted internship in large animal

    ambulatory medicine and theriogenology.

    At UGA, Evans the recipient o the Steve Lee

    Memorial Scholarship conducted research and

    presentations on equine stem cell therapy and

    equine dentistry. She is a member o the AmericanVeterinary Medical Association and the American

    Association o Equine Practitioners.

    Evans grew up in Savannah, competing in hunterand hunt seat equitation in local and A-rated horse

    shows throughout the Southeast. As equestriandirector and veterinarian at SCAD, Evans continues

    her passion or the practice o and research in

    equine sports medicine and dentistry. Evans also

    manages the daily operations at the Ronald C.

    Waranch Equestrian Center and teaches equestrian

    studies courses.

    Kelly joined the SCAD equestrian team coaching

    sta in 2005 as hunt seat coach while pursuing

    a degree in jewelry and objects. While a student

    at SCAD, she was an award-winning rider on the

    equestrian team rom 2001-2005. She competed

    at the 2002 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association

    (IHSA) National Championship and was a member

    o the SCAD 2003 and 2005 American NationalRiding Commission (ANRC) championship teams.

    With Kelly on the coaching sta, the team has

    continued its prominence on the intercollegiate

    riding scene, with ANRC National Championshipteam and individual wins in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010,

    2011 and 2012. In addition, Kelly coached a SCADrider to win reserve champion in the Cacchione Cup

    in 2010 and a national champion in the Cacchione

    Cup in the 2012 IHSA National Championships.

    Kelly also coached her team to consecutive IHSA

    Zone 5 reserve championships, qualiying SCAD to

    compete at the IHSA National Championship as ateam or the second year in a row. The team placed

    ourth in the country in 2011 and sixth in 2012.

    Kelly was honored as SCADs 2011 Head Coach

    o the Year. She has become involved with the

    Interscholastic Equestrian Association as a showsteward and was a steward or the 2010 IHSA

    National Championship Horse Show.

    Hunter Jumper Association Emerging

    Athletes Program. Both recorded

    the highest written test score o all

    In 2010, Lynsey Gwilliam won the

    SCAD athletics award or the athletewith the highest GPA.

    The SCAD equestrian team, one o the

    largest athletics programs at SCAD,

    has consistently maintained an overall

    GPA o at least 3.0.

    HEAD COACH

    M I C H A E L C U M M I N G S

    Michael Cummings, who took the reins o the SCAD

    mens lacrosse team in 2005, led the Bees in 2011 to

    their sixth consecutive appearance in the Southeastern

    Lacrosse Conerence Tournament, a 15-5 record and

    the SELC Division II Championship.

    SCAD also earned a Mens Collegiate Lacrosse

    Association National Tournament berth or the second

    straight year, deeating North Dakota State University

    in the rst round.

    In 2006, the programs rst season as a varsitysport, SCAD mens lacrosse team won a spot in the

    SELC Tournament, and Cummings was named SELC

    Division II Coach o the Year.

    The Bees were honored in 2007 as the District 5winners o the Jim Ace Adams Sportsmanship

    Award, based on the sportsmanship o the coaching

    sta, team, administration and ans, in addition to

    acilities available to the ocials and treatment o the

    ocials beore, during and ater games.

    Cummings earned his bachelors degree in studioart/secondary education certication in 1998 rom

    McDaniel College (previously Western Maryland

    College), where he played basketball or three seasons.

    He earned his M.F.A. degree in illustration rom SCAD

    in 2001. Cummings taught oundation studies and

    illustration courses at SCAD beore becoming the ull-time mens lacrosse coach.

    Cummings, who has served as an instructor at several

    local lacrosse camps and clinics, is a member o the

    From 2006 to 2012, 44 SCAD mens

    lacrosse players have been namedto the SELC (Southeastern Lacrosse

    N I C H O L E H A N N O NHEAD COACH

    Named head coach o the SCAD womens lacrosse

    team in July 2011, Nichole Hannon previously served

    two seasons as head coach or the Wittenberg

    University Tigers, guiding them to an 18-12 record.

    In 2010, Hannon led the Tigers to the best start

    in program history, winning seven o eight games

    to begin the season and nishing 9-6 overall. In

    2011, Wittenberg University also nished 9-6 with

    ve Tigers receiving all-conerence accolades

    and Hannon being named North Coast AthleticConerence Coach o the Year.

    When in college, Hannon earned our varsity letters

    while starting all 70 career games at LynchburgCollege. In 2007, Hannon served as a team captain,

    earning rst-team All-Old Dominion AthleticConerence, second-team All-South Region and

    Virginia Sports Inormation Directors College

    Division All-State Team honors.

    A native o Pasadena, Maryland, Hannon graduatedwith a degree in psychology in 2007 rom

    Lynchburg, where she began her coaching careeras an assistant; she earned her masters degree in

    educational leadership in 2009.

    Briana Gervat, who joined SCAD in 2012, serves as

    assistant coach or the SCAD womens lacrosse team

    while pursuing her masters degree in art history.

    A native o Northport, New York, Gervat played

    lacrosse or Northport High School beore

    being recruited to play at the University o Mary

    Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. As a

    starter, Gervat earned our varsity letters and

    helped the Eagles reach multiple nal ours during

    her collegiate career. Gervat earned All-CapitalAthletic Conerence accolades and was selected

    to the Virginia Sports Inormation Directors

    College Division All-State Team in 2002. She also

    earned Intercollegiate Womens Lacrosse CoachesAssociation and U.S. Lacrosse All-American honors

    in 2001 and 2002.

    Gervat graduated rom the University o Mary

    Washington with an art history degree beore

    traveling around the world and playing and

    coaching lacrosse in Melbourne, Australia. Gervat

    also has coached or the Long Island Elite Lacrosse

    Club and at the Northport Tiger Lacrosse Camp.Most recently, Gervat was the assistant coach or

    the Marymount School in New York City.

    In its rst year o membership, the SCAD womens lacrosse

    team won the 2012 National Womens Lacrosse League (NWLL)

    National Championship. SCAD nished the 2012 season with a

    15-4 record the best in the programs history. In 2012, the SCADwomens lacrosse team produced the NWLL Player o the Year as

    well as the NWLL Coach o the Year.

    HEAD COACH

    T O M ME L V I L L E

    Tom Melville, who joined SCAD in 2008, quickly

    has become the most successul head coach o

    the SCAD mens soccer program, guiding teams

    to three consecutive Sun Conerence nals (2009,

    2010 and 2011).

    In 2010, only his third season at SCAD, the Bees

    claimed the Sun Conerence championship. Under

    Melville, the program has consistently nished in

    the top tier o the Sun Conerence and is regularly

    in the NAIA top 20 national rankings, producing two

    All-Americans. Under Melvilles tutelage, the teams

    GPA has increased to a new average high o 3.2.

    Melville came to SCAD ater serving 13 seasons ashead coach o the NCAA Division I Mercer University

    mens soccer team. Melville let the Macon, Georgia,

    campus as the Bears all-time wins leader and led

    Mercer to its only two NCAA Championship berthsin 1999 and 2001. His Bears squad won conerence

    championships in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002.

    During his time at Mercer, the ormer Irish B league

    and Ulster Polytechnic player groomed two AtlanticSun Conerence players o the year, three conerencereshmen o the year, 15 rst-team all-conerence

    selections and 21 second-team all-conerence

    members. Melville was twice named the Atlantic

    Sun Conerence Coach o the Year (1999, 2002).

    Several o his players went on to play proessionally

    in the U.S., Hungary, Bolivia, Honduras and England.

    Prior to his arrival at Mercer, Melville spent eight

    successul seasons at Lenoir-Rhyne College. Melvillestarted his collegiate coaching career as a graduate

    assistant coach at University o North Carolina

    Chapel Hill.

    Ciaran McGuigan, a native o Ireland, played or

    Dundalk FC in the Irish Premier League. In 2010,

    McGuigan played in our Europa League qualiers,

    including two against Levski Soa. Ater the 2010-11

    season, he joined Syrianska IF in Sweden. McGuigan

    played central deense or center mid eld. Whileserving as assistant mens soccer coach, he is

    pursuing a B.F.A. degree in lm and television.

    The SCAD mens soccer program won the Sun

    Conerence regular season championship in 2010

    and reached the conerence tournament nals in

    2009, 2010 and 2011.

    The mens soccer team has earned NAIA national

    rankings o No. 12 in 2007, No. 13 in 2010 and No.16 in 2006.

    Two mens soccer student-athletes have been

    named NAIA All-Americans: Dan Fadida in 2009

    and Ellert Hreinsson in 2010.

    SCAD mens soccer has been selected as an NAIA

    Scholar Team in 2008 (3.14 GPA) and 2009 (3.10 GPA).

    Five SCAD soccer players have been named a

    In 2011, Andy Williamson guided the SCAD womens

    soccer team to their 12th postseason berth in 13

    seasons, compiling a 13-5 record in his 11th season

    as head coach.

    The team advanced to the seminal match o the

    Sun Conerence Tournament beore losing to theeventual champion. The Bees have made it to the

    conerence or regional seminal in every season

    since they joined the NAIA in 2003.

    Williamson, who joined SCAD in 2001 and has been

    honored three times as the conerence coach o the

    year (2005, 2007, 2008) and region coach o the

    year once (2005), has an overall record o 107-70-

    15 and has posted double-digit wins in six o the

    last seven seasons. The program has had threeAll-Americans, two NAIA Region XIV Players o

    the Year, two Florida Sun Conerence Newcomers

    o the Year and a Florida Sun Conerence Player o

    the Year. In addition, SCAD has earned berths to the

    NAIA National Championship in 2005 and 2007.

    Under Williamsons direction, the Bees have beensuccessul in the classroom, earning the NSCAA

    Team Academic Award nine times.

    Rebecca Gunn, assistant coach or the SCAD

    womens soccer team since 2005, excelled as a

    collegiate student-athlete.

    A our-year standout or the University o

    Minnesota-Morris womens soccer team, Gunn

    was a three-time All-Northern Sun IntercollegiateConerence selection and an All-Upper Midwest

    Athletic Conerence perormer. She was named the

    UMAC Co-Player o the Year in 2003.

    Gunn currently holds UMM records or goals (55),

    assists (45) and points (155) in a career. She also

    scored 11 match-winning goals and is one o 15

    players in the nation to achieve at least 40 goals

    and 40 assists in her career.

    Gunn graduated rom UMM in 2004 with a

    bachelors degree in sports management. She holds

    a State Goalkeeping Diploma and National License

    rom the National Soccer Coaches Association o

    America. She also holds a D License rom theUnited States Soccer Federation.

    In 2010-11, Chris Conlons rst year leading the SCAD

    mens and womens swimming teams, the Bees set 15

    school records and broke ve NAIA national records as

    15 swimmers earned NAIA All-American status.

    Conlon brought more than 20 years o coaching

    experience to SCAD, including seven years as head coachat Case Western Reserve University. With the Spartans,

    Conlon had swimmers qualiy or the NCAA Division III

    Championships in 47 individual or relay events.

    As an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins University, Conlon

    was a member o the NCAA Division III Mens Coaching

    Sta o the Year three out o ve seasons. During his

    stay with the Blue Jays, the mens team nished second

    in the nation twice while the women nished in the top

    10 nationally on two occasions.

    Between Case Western Reserve and Johns Hopkins,

    Conlon has coached 14 NCAA Division III All-Americans.

    Each o Conlons mens and womens swimming teams

    has been honored with Academic All-American awards.

    Conlon received his B.A. degree in natural sciences

    (1993) and M.A. degree in teaching (1996) rom JohnsHopkins University. He is an ASCA Level V coach and a

    2001 ASCA Fellow.

    Hired as assistant swimming coach in 2011, Sara Gildea

    brought eight years o collegiate head coaching

    experience to SCAD. Gildea works primarily with the

    sprint group and coached six NAIA All-Americans in

    the 2011-12 season.

    For ve years (2006-11), Gildea served as the headswimming and diving coach at Baldwin-Wallace

    College. Under Gildeas leadership, the Yellow Jackets

    broke three conerence records and 46 school

    records. She coached 12 individual Ohio AthleticConerence champions, 66 individual all-OAC and

    19 relay All-OAC honorees. The Yellow Jackets

    received College Swimming Coaches Association o

    America academic honors each semester and had 14academic All-OAC at-large members.

    As the head swimming and diving coach and the

    aquatics director at Mercyhurst North East in NorthEast, Pennsylvania (2004-06), Gildea produced two

    National Junior College Athletic Association National

    Champions. She also coached 16 All-Americans at the

    NJCAA level, a ve-time regional champion and a

    NJCAA Female Swimmer o the Year.

    She graduated rom John Carroll University with abachelors degree in psychology; she earned a masters

    degree in sport psychology rom Caliornia University

    o Pennsylvania. Gildea is an ASCA Level III coach, 2009

    ASCA Fellow and a member o USA Swimming.

    Jacob Turner enters his rst season as the mens and

    womens tennis coach or the Savannah College o Art

    and Design.

    Turner, who brings seven years o coaching experience

    to Savannah, has been the head coach at Young Harris

    College and an assistant at Kennesaw State University.During his two years at the helm o Young Harris,

    Turner was instrumental in helping Young Harris makea smooth transition to NCAA Division II athletics. While

    at Kennesaw, Turner worked with both the mens and

    womens tennis programs and was integral in helping

    start the mens program in 2008.

    Turner holds a United States Proessional Tennis Registry

    certication as well as an Etcheberry Certication orStrength and Conditioning in Tennis. He is a decorated

    veteran o the United States Air Force, reaching the

    rank o sta sergeant.

    Turner is a native o Laayette, Louisiana, and holds a

    bachelors o science degree in sports management

    with a minor in coaching rom Kennesaw State. He

    is currently pursuing a graduate degree in sports

    management rom Georgia Southern University.

    Magdalena Bresson, a ormer SCAD varsity tennis

    player, serves as SCADs graduate assistant tennis

    coach. Her college career began in 2006 at the

    College o William and Mary, where she helped her

    team reach the round o 16 at the NCAA Division INational Championships.

    As a sophomore, Bresson transerred to SCAD

    and competed or three seasons while completing

    her undergraduate degree in proessional writing.

    During her tenure at SCAD, she was named to the2012 All-Sun Conerence rst team and earned

    Academic All-Conerence honors. In 2012, she was

    also named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)

    All-American or both singles and doubles.

    The South Florida native returns to SCAD or the 2012-13 academic year to earn her M.A. degree in lm and

    television. Bresson interns at a local television station

    and writes reelance or a variety o local publications.

    The mens and womens tennis programs

    at SCAD have been nationally ranked since

    the Bees joined the NAIA.

    The womens team, which was ranked as

    high as No. 5 in the NAIA, won or shared

    ve consecutive conference championships

    in 2010.

    SCAD earned its seventh consecutive trip

    to the NAIA National Championship in 2010.

    Hillary Collins, Magdalena Bresson and Theresa

    Schmaus were named NAIA All-Americans.

    The doubles team of Schmaus and Bresson

    ranked as high as No. 4 in NAIA and has made

    three trips to the NAIA National Championship.

    In 2011, the mens team had two players

    named to the All-Sun Conference team,

    and the womens team had four players

    selected for the All-Sun Conference team.

    Stacee Roush begins her rst season as an athletic

    trainer or the SCAD Savannah athletics program.

    Roush, who is rom Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, earned her

    B.S. in education with an emphasis on kinesiology-

    exercise science rom the University o Kentucky in2009. She went on to earn a B.S. in athletic trainingrom Eastern Kentucky University. While at EKU,

    Roush worked with the ootball, volleyball, mens

    basketball and womens tennis teams.

    In the summers o 2011 and 2012, Roush worked or

    the Volleyball Festival. She was one o 52 medicalsta providing medical coverage or more 8,000

    athletes ages 8 to 18.

    Daniel Hinley, a native Savannahian, joined the SCAD

    athletic training sta in 2011 ater a stint at New HanoverRegional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.

    From 2006 to 2010, Hinley served as the head athletic

    trainer or Armstrong Atlantic State University, wherehe and his sta were awarded the 2009-10 Peach BeltConerence Athletic Training Sta o the Year Award.

    That same year, the Peach Belt Conerence selected

    Hinley as the inaugural recipient o its Inspiration Award.

    Prior to his tenure at AASU, Hinley served as an assistant

    athletic trainer at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont,North Carolina. Hinley graduated rom Valdosta State

    University with a B.S. in sports medicine/athletic trainingin 2003. He earned a M.Ed. in physical education with

    an emphasis in health promotion in 2005 rom Georgia

    College and State University.

    Sam Carter has served as SCADs strength and

    conditioning coach since 2001 and as director o

    tness since 2007.

    The Georgia native has trained numerous pro,

    collegiate and high school athletes. He is also a

    trainer to the stars.

    Carter graduated rom Savannah State University

    with a bachelors degree in chemistry in 1996. He isa member o the National Strength and Conditioning

    Association and is certied through the NSCA as acertied strength and conditioning specialist. Carter,

    a Marine, is also certied as a personal trainer through

    the America Council on Exercise.

    AND RECRE ATION

    E D D I E C O N C E P C I N

    Eddie Concepcin, director o intramurals and recreation

    at SCAD, has nearly 34 years o experience in

    physical itness, training and coaching.

    His tenure at SCAD includes positions as head womensbasketball coach, assistant mens basketball coach,

    director o intramurals and tness center manager.

    As the womens basketball coach, he posted a winning

    record in every season, guiding the team to the NCAA

    Division III tournament with a 19-7 record in the 2001-

    02 season. Concepcin also served as the head coach

    o the Savannah Storm, an expansion ranchise o

    the American Basketball Association, earning an 8-1overall record and leading the team to its rst-ever

    playo game in 2010-11, the Storms rst season.

    Concepcin is a certied CPR/rst aid instructor,

    personal trainer and League Cycling Instructor (LCI).

    He was a licensed boxer in 1978. He earned B.F.A.

    and M.F.A. degrees in video and lm rom SCAD.

    James Ives has several years o experience in the

    tness industry, working in a variety o tnesssettings, rom collegiate recreation centers to hospital

    wellness centers and private personal training

    acilities. Ives believes in a unctional approach to

    exercise and oten implements un and challengingexercises during his classes.

    Beore joining the Club SCAD team in 2012, Ives

    worked or three years as a supervisor and master

    trainer at Empower Personal Training in Durham,

    North Carolina. Prior to this, he served as a tness

    graduate assistant while completing his masters

    degree at the University o North Carolina, where

    he worked with campus recreation as well as theUNC mens ootball team. He has also held positions

    as a personal trainer at other locations, including

    UNC Healthcare in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

    Ives is certied as a strength and conditioning specialistthrough the National Strength and Conditioning

    Association (NSCA). In 2005, he received a B.A. rom

    the University o North Carolina at Chapel Hill, double

    majoring in exercise and sport science and psychology.

    Ives returned to UNC and in 2009 he completed a M.A.

    degree in exercise physiology.

    Originally ormed in March 1990 as the Florida

    Intercollegiate Athletic Conerence (FIAC),

    The Sun Conerence was established as a

    conerence or small independent institutions

    within the NAIA. The name Florida SunConerence was adopted in 1992. The league

    unveiled its new name, The Sun Conerence,on Aug. 18, 2008 to be inclusive o member

    schools rom Georgia and South Carolina.

    The league sponsors championships in baseball,mens and womens basketball, mens and

    womens cross country, mens and womens

    gol, mens and womens soccer, sotball, mens

    and womens tennis, mens and womens track

    and eld, and womens volleyball.

    The 11 member institutions in the conerence

    believe in strong educational commitment combined

    with balanced athletic competition, resulting in one

    o the most successul intercollegiate conerences

    in the NAIA. The Sun Conerence has proven to

    be one o the top leagues in the NAIA with its

    teams consistently being recognized amongthe nations best.

    Since 1937, the NAIA has administered programs

    and championships in proper balance with the

    overall educational experience. In 2000, the NAIA

    rearmed its purpose to enhance the character-

    building aspects o sport. Through Championso Character, the NAIA seeks to create an

    environment in which each student-athlete, coach,ocial and spectator is committed to the true

    spirit o competition through ve tenets: respect,

    integrity, responsibility, servant leadership and

    sportsmanship. This program will educate and

    create awareness o the positive character-building

    traits aorded by sports and return integrity tocompetition at the collegiate and youth levels while

    impacting all o society.

    In 2009, 2011 and 2012, SCAD athletics won the

    Champions o Character award.
