Welcome to San Diego! From all of us on the 2013 Convention committee, we are excited to have you join us for the 82nd Annual SEAOC Convention in America’s Finest City!

Make your plans to take advantage of all the convention has to offer; from the technical sessions, the exhibit hall, to the many social events, tours and sporting activities. Of course we also hope you find time to relax and enjoy the numerous amenities that the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa has to offer. Located mid-way between the downtown Gaslamp District and La Jolla, you’ll find it easy to access some of our city’s finest restaurants, theatres, museums, historic sites, and of course our fabulous beaches!

Please also remember that the SEAOC Convention is much more than the unique and varied scheduled events. It is also a time to enjoy the company of old acquaintances while meeting new friends and col-leagues. It’s a time to honor the numerous volunteers who make our association thrive and to discover new opportunities to lead our association into the future. Most importantly, have a great time! We are truly delighted that you have joined us, and hope that it is a memorable experience.

Marseilles/Portofino Room

Computer and Structures, Inc. presents1:20 – STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING: 2:20pm The Profession, the Grandeur, and the Glory Ashraf Habibullah, SE President and CEO, Computers & Structures, Inc.

In this presentation, Ashraf will share his passion and enthu-siasm for structural engineering, a profession whose grandeur and glory are worth celebrating! Indeed, it is because of the magic of structural engineering that ancient monuments are still standing and why breathtaking new structures—such as the BurjKhalifa in the UAE and the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing—can exist today.

Ashraf brings into focus the invaluable socio-economic contri-butions of this noble profession by recognizing its unmatched impact on humanity. He will highlight the ways in which the intellect and talent of structural engineers have literally saved hundreds of millions of lives, spared us from death and destruction, and preserved and protected progress and prop-erty. You will leave with a renewed appreciation for the ways in which structural engineers make the world a better, safer, and more beautiful place to live for all of us, and for countless generations to come.
