Located in the beautiful King Harbor of Redondo Beach, California, Seaside Ice annually transforms the Seaside Lagoon’s scenic beach area into a holiday wonderland for the entire South Bay community of Los Angeles. For the 2008 inaugural season, Tom Kearney of Pinch Hit Productions and Scott Williams of Turtle Island Productions formed Seaside Ice, LLC to spearhead the project and its 5-year agreement with the City and business community.
Including ice skating sessions, music, DJ’s, films, holiday decorations, special events and parties, Seaside Ice combines ice elements and ocean sunsets to create a very special event for the entire family from mid-November through the holidays.
Open from November 11, 2009 – January 18, 2010, Seaside Ice’s second season will offer public skating for ten weeks during its seven-day-a-week schedule. Over 30,000 skaters are expected this year following last year’s 25,000+, as well as up to 85,000 total attendees, including all ages of skaters, birthday and corporate parties, and other functions. With a wildly successful publicity campaign during season one, attendance and excitement for this year’s event will increase dramatically including T.O.T. increases estimated by the promoters at 25% above average seasonal levels.
Seaside Ice is a family and community-oriented event that brings a significant increase in business to an otherwise idle section of the city over the winter season. With over 85,000 people expected to attend and view the event over a ten-week period, as the first season has shown, Seaside Ice will continue to create a vibrant new excitement in the area.

The event schedule provides a number of media outlets and positive exposure for Sponsors, the City of Redondo Beach and the entire King Harbor business community, including television news programs, magazine and newspaper articles, electronic media coverage, live broadcasts, morning magazine shows, reality television, and special appearances of celebrities, athletes and Olympians. Last year’s total value is estimated at $2,000,000.

Seaside Ice will will be open for public skating from November 11 through January 18. Public skating will be open weekdays (during holidays) from 11am to 9:30pm and weekends from 10am to 10:30pm. In addition to public skating during these hours, school, church, and business groups will schedule times to enjoy the facility.

A fee of $12 - $14 will be charged for 1½-hour public skating sessions, including skate rental. Private party and group rates are available.
ó ConcessionsSeaside Ice offers food and beverages available for purchase on site. Additional provider designation is based on sponsorship arrangements. Alcohol can only be served during private functions as per City permit rules, with strict adherence to all local, state, and federal laws, and any applicable license and insurance requirements.
ó Local ImpactDuring an otherwise slow season for King Harbor businesses, the thousands of Seaside Ice attendees use parking facilities, hotels, restaurants, shopping, recreational activities, and other local business services. The site is maintained by an experienced staff, and audio levels are carefully managed in consideration of local residents, including the use of painted walls surrounding the chiller systems. Speakers are strategically placed to direct sound away from residents/hotel guests. Music is tastefully chosen to reflect the holiday season and family audience.

Pinch Hit Productions, established in 2002, is a media company specializing in independent filmmaking and creating local commercials for South Bay businesses, as well as creating TV shows for On Demand Pay Per View. In 2003, Pinch Hit Productions launched the Hermosa Shorts Film Festival. Five years later it has developed into one of California’s best film festivals. The LA Times called it “Innovative” and the Daily Breeze proclaimed Hermosa Shorts Film Festival a “Huge Success.” Showing over eighty films a year with submissions averaging over 600 films per year, Pinch Hit Productions has turned Hermosa Beach into a film destination for independent filmmakers from around the world. EVENT PRODUCTION/MANAGEMENT: Turtle Island Productions, Inc.Founded in 1997, Turtle Island Productions is an ideas-driven enterprise, offering creative management services in live shows & tours, television production, events & promotions, conferences & meetings, ice skating entertainment, and multimedia. Our innovative project management teams work on all levels of event creation, planning, marketing, sponsorship fulfillment, staffing, casting, direction, and choreography. Turtle Island created and co-executive produced the 2006 TLC series Ice Diaries, in addition to creating and producing four seasons of the American Open Professional Figure Skating Championships®, and a number of other skating specials such as Skate of Champions and Beverly Hills on Ice. Since 2004, TIP President Scott Williams has annually produced White Canvas Productions’ Brian Boitano Skating Spectacular on NBC.
