Page 2: Senior Project Portfolio Overview

1. To understand the purpose of the SP Portfolio

2. To identify what is expected in your SP Portfolio

3. To understand how the Portfolios will be evaluated

Today’s objectives:

PORTFOLIOS ARE DUE APRIL 19, 2013

Page 3: Senior Project Portfolio Overview

Why do I have to make a portfolio? To showcase your accomplishments and

learning To show your panel that you actually

completed a project To answer questions about your project that

your presentation will not cover Tangible evidence! Because it is one of the requirements and if

you don’t you won’t graduate.

Page 4: Senior Project Portfolio Overview

To help your panel determine whether the project is ready for presentation.

Panels will also take into account:◦ All other documentation (that you’ve turned in--or

not)◦ Meeting attendance (or lack thereof)◦ General behavior in connection with the project ◦ Overall project progress

What is the Project Portfolio used for?

Page 5: Senior Project Portfolio Overview

I need more information…

Page 7: Senior Project Portfolio Overview

Organize your Portfolio so that it is easy to read and understand:◦ Use section dividers or some other means of separating sections.◦ Plastic sheet covers are NOT required.

The Cover Letter should be a formal document.  ◦ Address it to each member of your panel ◦ Use a standard letter format, such as one used for HSBP  ◦ Confirm spelling of the panel’s names…

CAPTIONS: It is essential to label pictures, videos, and other evidence so that panel knows the context.

Quality Control

Page 8: Senior Project Portfolio Overview

Captions on evidence should place the evidence in context:◦ What is the item? Who or what is on display?◦ What stage of the project does it represent?◦ What learning goals or accomplishments are the

focus of the item? If you have lots of pictures, etc. it is OK to

group them:◦ EXAMPLE: “Pictures 1 – 15 show the progression of my

first painting. These pictures were taken at the end of each work session. Note that between pictures 7-11 I completely redid one section of the painting.”
