Terrorism• Terrorism means:

The use of violence and

threats to intimidate or

coerce, especially for political purposes.

• 19 men were terrorist who attacked America.

Twin Towers• There were 110

floors on each tower.

• There was an average of 45,000 – 50,000 square feet per floor.

• Over 50,000 people worked in each tower.

• 103 elevators were in each tower also.

• There were 200,000 tons of steel that held up the towers.

• The first plane hit the north tower at 8:47 in floors 90-100.

• The plane (Flight 11), was caring 24,000 gallons of jet fuel.

• 5 hijacker's were on that plane, 76 passengers and 11 crew members.

• At 9:02 the second plane hit the south tower and flew into the floors 78-87.

• The plane (Flight 175) had 5 hijackers, 51 passengers and 9 crew members.

• While all of this was happing President George Bush was in a school in Sarasota, Florida reading to a group of kindergarteners.

• He was told at 9:00 that the first plane had hit the north tower in N.Y.

• The White House was evacuated at 9:45, and the Capitol and other federal buildings were evacuated at 9:48.

• At 9:55 President Bush left Florida and headed to the Air force base but he was in the air most of the time.

• At 9:50 the south tower of the world trade Center collapsed.

• At 10:28 the north tower collapsed.

• New York was covered in ashes and debris

• At 9:41 Flight 77 Crashed into the side of the Pentagon.

• 5 hijackers, 53 passengers and 6 crew members were on the plane.

• Flight 93 crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania which is 80 miles out of Pittsburg at 10:00.

• This flight had 4 hijackers, 33 passengers and 7 crew members.

• This plane was suppose to be heading to the White House, but investigators say that some of the passengers fought to hijackers and brought the plane down before it got to the White House.

• In some of the plane rubble investigators found part of a letter that belonged to the hijackers that read, “Purify your heart and

forget something called life, for the time of play is

goneand the time of truth has come…when the plane

starts moving, then you are traveling

toward god and what a blessing that travel is.”

• The plane attacks were not a suicide attack but to the hijackers it was act of serving their god.

• There were 4 planes that were used for this terrorists attack and 19 terrorist.

• There terrorists smuggled small knives onto the planes to kill the pilots.

• Most of the terrorist took flight lessons in America so they would know how to fly the planes.

• They also took a GPS with them on the planes so they would know where they where going.

• All these men were from the Middle Eastern nations.

• They all belonged to an international terrorist organization called al Qaeda which mean “the base”

• These men were all well educated and went to graduate school.

• Their parents were all every shocked that they did this horrible attack and they didn’t even know about it.

Osama bin Laden• He is the most infamous

terrorist of all time.• He grew up around

wealth and privilege• He graduated from a

Saudi university in 1979 with a degree in civil engineering.

• Osama inherited $80 million form his father which was estimated to be about $250 million when he was an adult.

• He was shot in the head by the Navy SEALs on May2, 2011 and was buried in the North Arabian sea.

Building the Memorial

• 4 Word Trade Center buildings were built along with 2 Reflecting pools/waterfalls were the towers stood, 1 World Trade Center Transportation Hub and a 9/11 Museum.

• It took about 10 years to do this project.

• Where the twin towers used to stand, they put a giant reflecting pool/waterfall.

• Around the pool are engraved names of all the victims that were killed in the tragedy.

• Over 3,311 People died in all of the crashes and attacks.
