One of the iconic landmarks of piano literature, the Beethoven Sonatas trace theimmense musical and spiritual journey of the composer’s creative life. Whilst his ownperformances of them were largely confined to the elite aristocratic salons of Vienna,allowing him to disregard the commercial pressures of the day and write some of hismost deeply personal music, Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas soon became central toconcert life, and to wider domestic music making, presenting an endlessly fascinatinginterpretative challenge both to the enthusiastic amateur and to the greatestpianists of each generation. Current holder of the Parkhouse Award, the Amatis Piano Trio has beenpart of the European Chamber Music Academy since 2015 and in a shortspace of time has impressed audiences and juries alike.
