DESCRIPTION The 2012-2013 Inner City Truck is an environmentally conscious vehicle designed to service smaller lawns with an electrically powered spray system. The base of the vehicle is a specially prepared Ford F-350. The truck carries a 280 gallon primary tank (1) and a 25 gallon additive tank (2). The bed is modified to create an integral spill dam (3) to prevent environmental damage in the event of a leak. A drain is included for cleaning. The drain is accessible through the curbside wheel well. The pumping equipment is carried on a stainless steel platform (4) leaving space for dry fertilizer.

The Main Fluid Filter (5) is located below the stainless steel platform. The Main Pump (6) is located on the platform. Cargo straps (7) are incorporated into the bed of the vehicle for securing hand-held or backpack sprayers. A hand wash tank (8) with a convenient garden hose fill attachment (9) is included for the operator. There is a Spray System Power Switch in the dash, left of the steering wheel. All of the operational controls for the Westheffer spray system are accessed through the side door of the bed cover.

The Primary Power Key Switch and the Pump/Reel Selector Switch are located on the Control Box (10). The main Pressure Regulator (11) is located on the forward side of the reel (12).

The MMOD additive system power switch and pressure regulator are integral to the MMOD unit (13).

Hose Rewind Switch (16) is located on the back end of the reel. The Additive Tank Fill Valve (17), main Shutoff Valve (18) and Main Tank Fill Valve (19) are located above the 280 Gallon Main Tank (1). A Rear View Camera System (20) is installed on the vehicle. The system is set to turn on when the vehicle is in reverse. The camera is mounted below the rear bumper.

A battery protection system is incorporated into the vehicle to allow the operator to spray with the engine off without affecting his ability to restart the vehicle.

The system consists of an Auxiliary Battery (21) a 200 amp solenoid (22) and a 120 amp circuit breaker (23). The Auxiliary Battery is the primary power source for the spray equipment. The battery protection system connects the two batteries while the vehicle is running to allow the vehicle alternator to charge both batteries. When the ignition switch is turned off, the solenoid disengages and the vehicle battery is isolated from the spray system current draw.

The truck is capable of carrying dry fertilizer as well. The amount that can be carried depends on the amount of fluid on board. The load chart below shows the safe combined load scenarios.

A receiver hitch system is available as an option to allow carrying a ride-on spreader (with reduced payload capacity).

OPERATION SPRAYING After parking the vehicle at the desired location, the engine should be turned off. NOTE: Leaving the vehicle ignition switch ON will allow the main vehicle battery to be drained. Turn on power to the pumping system using the switch in the dash. Open the side door on the bed cover to access the reel and operational controls. Open the main tank valve. Turn the removable key switch on. Select PUMP on the selector switch at the control panel to begin fluid circulation. Adjust the pressure regulator (above the control panel) to 40 psi. Turn on the MMOD if additive is desired. Pull the hose roller assembly out to the working position. Reel off the desired hose and begin spraying. When spraying is completed, switch the selector switch to REEL. The push button on the left of the reel engages the reel motor to rewind the hose. Guide the hose onto the reel while rewinding. Fresh water for hand washing is accessible at the curbside rear of the truck. Turn off the system power using the dash switch before driving.

FILLING The primary and additive tanks are filled through the side door of the bed cover. Identify the appropriate valve and fitting by checking the label on the valve handle. Secure the hose to the appropriate fitting. Open the valve. The tanks are translucent to allow the operator to check the progress of the filling operation. When complete, turn off the source before closing the valve to avoid trapping pressure. Close the valve and disconnect the fill hose.

If NO Reset 60 amp breaker at aux battery. Check 20 amp fuses in control box. Check grounds.

If YES Check aux battery voltage. Start engine if too low. IN RUSH Turn MMOD off during start up.

Reduce regulator pressure during start up. VALVING Open valve at filter under MMOD platform.

Reduce regulator pressure. Check sprayer for clogs. Check pickup in 280 gallon tank for clogs. Check filter for clogs. Weak Fluid Flow Ensure pressure regulator is set properly. Completely unroll hose to check for flattening and/or kinks. Check sprayer for clogs. Check pickup in 280 gallon tank for clogs. Check filter for clogs. Check aux battery voltage. Start engine if too low. No Additive Flow Power switch on MMOD ON. Check fuses in-line to MMOD. Reduce MMOD regulator pressure. Check sprayer for clogs. Check pickup in 25 gallon tank for clogs. Check aux battery voltage. Start engine if too low. Hose will not reel in. Motor sound when engaging button?

If YES Check for physical jams. Check aux battery voltage. Start engine if too low.

If NO Pump/Reel Selector Switch on REEL. Keyed Power Switch ON. Dash Switch ON. Dash Switch Light on?

If NO Reset 60 amp breaker at aux battery. Check 20 amp fuses in control box. Check grounds.

If YES Check aux battery voltage. Start engine if too low. Truck will not start after spraying

Ignition switch left on? Both batteries will be drained. Will require jump start.

Ignition switch not left on? Indicates weak primary battery. Try removing drained aux battery load from the circuit by removing solenoid fuse at aux battery. Replace fuse after engine starts to allow aux battery recharging.
