GM is partnering with the Water and Woods Council (formerly Tall Pine Council), Boy Scouts of America, to create an event that hopefully will generate interest in Scouting, as well as fuel people’s passion for automo-biles and racing.

You are invited to participate in a series of celebrity Pinewood Derby races that will take place from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17. There is no cost to you; in fact, GM will provide each sponsor and GM dealership with one free Pinewood Derby car

to build and race at the Aug. 17 event. Kits will be distributed in July. The Aug. 17 races are part of the week-long Back to the Bricks activities. During the rolling cruises on Aug. 15 and 16, GM and the Boy Scouts are partnering with Thomas Appli-

ance to distribute free Pinewood Derby car kits to children 18 and younger. Thomas Appliance, 5600 S. Saginaw in Flint, will host the event at which children can pick up their cars and design and build them on site. The children will be encouraged to bring the cars to the GM display in down-town Flint to race them during Saturday’s show. They hope that you will be able to participate in the Aug. 17 races. If you can, please RSVP to Tom Wickham, GM communica-tions manager in Flint, at [email protected]. You may also call Tom at 248-707-9064.

Great News. After six full months of the Chamber embrac-ing social media and after three full months of the Chamber having a new website, the early results are phenomenal... and the feedback from membership has been incredible. When we began our social media campaign, (Feb 1) our Facebook page had a paltry 89 “ likes.” As of mid-July, we have a whopping 315 ‘likes’

and growing. Our website (Apr. 6th) has been even more impres-sive... after 60 days we aver-aged a mere 77 page views per day. Thanks to the demand for information during the Fun Fest and Taste of Grand Blanc, we are currently up to 393 daily page views. Translated, this simply means that if you want to promote your business, your company needs

have a social media presence, and your company should con-sider advertising on our website. Contact Chris Foster, Marketing Director, for advertising and on-going sponsorship details [email protected]
