    Aurangabad was founded in *(*+ A.3. by Malik Ambar, the PrimeMinister of Murta8a Ni8am !hah of Ahmadnagar, on the site of avillage called "hadki. 1e made it his capital and the men of hisarmy raised their dwellings around it. 2ithin a decade, "hadkigrew into a populous and imposing city. Malik Ambar cherishedstrong love and ability for architecture. Aurangabad was Ambar7sarchitectural achievement and creation. Malik Ambar died in*((. 1e was succeeded by his son ateh "han, who changed thename of "hadki to atehnagar. 2ith the capture of 3aulatabadpreviously known as 3evagiri by the imperial troops in *(&&, theNi8am !hahi dominions, including atehnagar, came under the
