E L E C T R I C I A N S T R A I N I N G - This course is designed to cover the principles of electrical wiring as it applies to commercial/residential applications. Emphasis is on Ohm’s law, alternating and direct currents, series circuits, parallel circuits and series parallel circuits, use of electrical tools and equipment, wiring materials and many other special subjects. Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting as well as National Electric Code will be covered as well. Students will get hands on training to demonstrate the knowledge they have gained from the course.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Financial assistance is available for qualified individuals through Goodwill’s Outreach Scholarship Fund.

This course provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults. This course will develop basic key boarding, word processing and internet skills as it realtes to employment. The course will help students learn how to use the internet for job searching and resume writing. Students will also learn how to use their email for communication with employers and will also learn how to access government and educational resources and services.

This course provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults. The curriculum framework is based on a specific occupation and includes one or more of the following topics: 1) career exploration, 2) entry-level competency awareness, 3) employability skills [soft skills], 4) job search strategies and 5) college-readiness skills. This course must be linked to an occupational course or a career pathways program at the college.

I N T R O T O D I R E C T C A R E B A S I C SWould you like to become a home care aid? This course is perfect for you and Fee Waived to those who qualify! This course provides skills training related to providing personal care skills (non-nurse aide personal care tasks pertaining to activities of daily living such as assistance with dressing, grooming, mobility, skin care, eating, etc.) as well as content related to basic nutrition and food preparation, and an array of essential home management content such as infection control topics, personal safety, etc.

M E D I C A L O F F I C E S E C R E T A R Y - This course is geared to assist those interested in a medical office administrative position. Students will obtain the skills needed for success in an entry level position as an administrative assistant. While this course is not intended to be considered comprehensive, topics covered will include medical office procedures, legal and ethical aspects of the job, training on MediSoft computer software, and other critical success factors for employment in this growing field. In addition to the industry-specific training you will receive in this class, students will also prepare for and take the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) for free - $30 value. Textbook is provided.

P A T H W A Y S T O O F F I C E A D M I N I S T R A T I O NLearn about office administration - the skills, attributes, and work values necessary for employment in the field - and how to determine if a career as an administrative assistant is right for you. This course explains the role of technology in administrative work and how to prepare for a variety of entry-level positions. You’ll explore occupational training opportunities, wages, and trends that can help you find employment and career advancement.

This course provides employability skills training for unemployed and underemployed adults. This course prepares students for the technological demands of the current workplace. Students will learn how to create resumes, apply for jobs, and function successfully in a working environment where computers and other similar technologies are in use. Students will also learn primary concepts of Microsoft 2013. Course work includes keyboarding, word-processing, internet awareness, job search strategies, and more! No previous computer knowledge is required.

N O T A R Y P U B L I C - This course is designed to provide instruction to individuals who want to become commissioned as a Notary Public. Topics include legal, ethical and procedural requirements of the Notary Act. Upon completion of this course with a passing exam grade of 80%, a person is eligible to make application with the NC Secretary of State office.
