Worldwide, more and more companies realize that agile andperformant enterprise networks are crucial for digital business models. Andeven though today’s global business networks are highly performant, reliable and secure, they are complex and time-consuming to manage. The reason is that even large telecommunication providers have to partly purchase infrastructure from other network operators.

As a result, the provisioning takes a great deal of time and the offerings differ from region to region. However, multinational companies increasingly demand standardized offerings and quick integration of new services. With these requirements in mind, Deutsche Telekom initiated the global network alliance ngena. Its aim is to provide a new generation of IP-VPNs.

T-Systems launches the first network services based on the Next Generation Enterprise Network Alliance(ngena): The Smart SD-WAN powered by ngena built via public Internet or Ethernet access. With the ngenabased solution, T-Systems is one of the first alliance partners presenting a SDN based global businessnetwork that is highly standardized, quick to implement, highly secure and extremely stable. The newnetwork service will be available at the beginning of the third quarter 2017.

Sharing for a global network

ngena is an alliance of leading telecommunication providers across the world. It offers the first sharing economy model for networking by connecting the separate carrier networks to a truly global infrastructure. The alliance acts as an indepen-dent company and offers global services to its partners – which, in turn, supply their customers with them.

ngena was launched during last year’s Mobile World Congress by the founding partners CenturyLink (USA), Reliance Jio (India), SK Telecom (South Korea) and Deutsche Telekom (Germany). Since then, ngena gained ten more partners, for example, PCCW and Neutrona. Thanks to the alliance, the ngena partners will provide coverage unlike any other global service provider and even connect sites in remote areas. As each of them is strongly positioned and has extensive experience with regional enterprises, the worldwide coverage goes along with local care.

ngena will supply its offerings agilely and efficiently thanks to an innovative technology for fully automated provisioning. The key enabling cloud and virtualization technology is provided by Cisco, technology partner of ngena. An agile development approach ensures state-of-the-art services with fast innovation cycles.

Smart SD-WAN powered by ngena perfectly complement the existing T-Systems portfolio. Multinational companies of any size will benefit from their high degree of standardization and automation. As Deutsche Telekom is one of the earliest ngena partners, T-Systems will make the first ngena solutions available for its customers immediately after its start in the third quarter 2017. T-Systems will offer IP-VPN Services to company sites based on public Internet or Ethernet access.

The whole product range will reach from cost-effective con-nections for points of sale to fully redundant IP-VPN access incl. CoS (classes of service) based on ethernet connections. ngena expects 20 additional service providers to join this industry-shaping alliance within the next years – increasing the offerings’ coverage even more. Being an ngena partner, T-Systems is right at the forefront of shaping the future of the SDN market. Therefore, the provider is well prepared to help its customers build a reliable platform for the digitization.
