Currently food can be dropped off at all 3 Wilton Branches of Saratoga National Bank and the Wilton Ballston Spa National Bank branch. Recycling Program at SCCHSSARATOGA SPRINGS – Saratoga Central Catholic High School has announced the creation of a Bottle Recycling Program at their school, located at 247 Broadway in Sarato-ga Springs. The “Green Monster,” as the collection shed has been named, is located in the back parking lot of the school, off of Hamilton Street. The concept for the program was rec-ommended by the Spa Catholic Booster Club, and the project was brought to fruition through the combined efforts of par-ents, staff and students, and alumni. Glass, metal, and plastic returnable containers can be deposited through the trap door of the Green Monster. The money raised will go to support the sports teams at Spa Catholic and enhance the experience of the students, alumni, and fans of Spa Catholic sports. Peace Week in Saratoga SpringsSARATOGA SPRINGS – In recognition of the highly success-ful community Peace Fair held in Saratoga Springs the last two years, Mayor Scott Johnson has declared September 19-25, 2011 to be Peace Week in Saratoga Springs. The proclamation, signed June 27, declares that “the City of Saratoga Springs seeks to be a peaceful and just community that is inclusive of all people and rejects violence as a way to resolve differences.” Through the proclamation, the Mayor also encourages other or-ganizations to sponsor peace-related events during that week “to spread the message of peace and justice in our community”, in addition to the Peace Fair itself, which will be held at the Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church on Sunday, September 25. The Peace Fair Steering Committee will coor-dinate and publish a listing of all businesses and organizations scheduling a peace-related event that week. Proceeds will benefi t Brachial Plexus Network, Inc. The term Brachial Plexus Injury (BPI) refers to an injury to the complex set of nerves that control the muscles of the fi ngers, hand, arm, and shoulder. The Brachial Plexus can be damaged in a number of different ways including accidents involving high impact conditions but most brachial plexus injuries are sustained during birth from excessive force being applied to the baby’s neck and head resulting in stretch-ing and/or tearing of the Brachial Plexus nerves.
