Highlights of the evening were many, and included our pre-show reception where

guests enjoyed a never ending selection of delectable appetizers, a celebratory moment when our Executive Director Diane McClymonds toasted retiring board member Larry Parberry for his nine years of service, our pre-show video, and an entertaining and comedic performance of Hairspray.

Funds raised go directly towards subsidizing our meal delivery service. Thanks to Subaru of America, our Diamond Title Sponsor, as well as the generous support of our corporate and food sponsors, raffle prize donors, and

Thank You Littleton Public School Community

As part of the Littleton Public Schools (LPS) bond of 2013 our Ames facility has benefitted

from building improvements. The roof over our volunteer lounge no longer leaks when it rains. The carpet in the lounge has been replaced. And we have a new, larger grease trap. Not glamorous, but necessary when preparing over 2200 meals a week! Thank you to the community for approving the bond. And huge appreciation to LPS for being wonderful landlords.

commitment to our organization that was inspirational to all who knew her.

TLC Meals on Wheels isn’t the only organization lucky enough to experience FiFi’s compassion for

others. She spent years volunteering in the playroom at Children’s Hospital, and prior to volunteering for us in 1978, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Boston. Thank you FiFi, for you many years of service!

Please support this year’s sponsors by patronizing their businesses and personally letting them know how much we appreciate their generosity.

What’s New at TLC Meals on Wheels?

August 13th was a Busy Day for TLC Meals on Wheels

TLC MoW was the beneficiary of two events on August 13th - The 6th Annual John Elway

Invitational Charity Golf Tournament and the Littleton Elks Car Show Elks.

It was a beautiful day on the course at Colorado National Golf at Vista Ridge as golfers teed off for the 6th Annual John Elway Dealerships Charity Golf Tournament, benefitting TLC Meals on Wheels. Golfers supported TLC with the purchase of mulligans, participating in games on the course and purchasing tickets for a chance to win great prizes including golf foursomes generously donated by Raccoon Creek, South Suburban and Walnut Creek. SG-Associates LLC donated an autographed Rockies player Charlie Blackmon photo, and John Elway Dealerships provided an autographed John Elway football. Special thanks to event coordinator AJ Guanella of John Elway Chevrolet, and also Lorie Schlomann, TLC volunteer for organizing activities and collecting prizes.

Goodbye to Volunteer Felice

Cottle – You Will be Missed!!

After 39 years of delivering meals on route 10, Felice “FiFi” Cottle drove for the last time on

June 20th. At age 92, FiFi was our oldest volunteer. When asked if she ever thought she would be here after all these years, she replied: “I didn’t think I would still be alive!”

Over the years, FiFi developed strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, many of whom she delivered meals to for years. Her many colorful stories included her weekly coffee with Stan the cookie

man, who shared with her his delicious home baked cookies. Or, how once she found another client lying on the floor, and held his hand as she called 911. As the ambulance took him out of his house, he said “you saved my life.” FiFi replied, “No, TLC Meals on Wheels saved your life.”

As special as she was to our clients, she is loved by our staff and volunteers as well. Every Tuesday morning she brought in Duffey Rolls and as she waited for her meals, she could be seen laughing and sharing her favorite TLC stories with other volunteers, exuding an energy and

We are pleased to announce that TLC Meals on Wheels received the Reader’s Choice Best Award for best local non-profit from Littleton’s suburban newspaper, the Littleton Independent. Thank you to the community of Littleton for your ongoing trust and support of our organization.

Thank you to our youngest volunteers, Micah and Eliana, who along with their mother Rebecca deliver meals weekly.

FiFi holding her goodbye cake, which read “Farewell FiFi. Thank you for 39 years of serving seniors.

You will be missed.”

Congratulations to 1st Place Team Dave Hunt, Tony Petrelli, Michael Petrelli & Max Kosorok.

Our Annual Survey Results

The results of our 2017 annual client survey are in, and once again they demonstrate the impact of our services on our clients’ lives. Clients overwhelmingly said our

services reduce their level of stress (97%), increase their energy level and help them maintain a healthy weight (89%), improve their social and family interactions (80%), and improve their physical health (87%). Ninety one percent said that receiving our services helped them remain independent in their own home and 77% said it would be difficult to get a meal from another source.

Our statistics, however, are merely the tip of the iceberg, as the sense of comfort, caring and freedom we provide our clients is often immeasurable.

Recently we heard from the family of a client we had served for over two years who had passed away: “Mom loved the food and the company. But moreover, I want you to know what a comfort your service was to her ‘far-away’ family. It was a great comfort knowing she would have a good meal and someone to make contact with. She was a very loving people person. Thanks is not a big enough word, but thanks!” Or Rosa, a 87 year old client who told us she treasures the independence our services bring. She lives with three generations of her family, and our services allows her to eat what she wants and when she wants to without having to rely on others.
