See ridgelyauctionco.com for detailed listing By Ernie Smothers ernie.smothers@gmail com BRUCETON (October 4) Fol- lowing an impressive 75-yard touchdown scamper by CMS’ Zayveon Johnson early in the first quarter, the Central Middle School Tigers appeared poised to defeat Huntingdon (7-1), finish the year undefeated, and claim sole posses- sion of the Carroll County Middle School football championship. The Mustangs, however, had other plans. Galloping behind impressive offensive line blocking, Mustang running backs Zach Dodson (14 carries, 143 yards, nine-yard touchdown scamper, 60-yard punt return touchdown) and Ben Clifft (16 touches, 109 yards) showcased their amazing speed and elusive moves to lead Huntingdon to a commanding 28-8 win and sec- ond-consecutive county football crown. Mustang inside rusher Keeton Bailey added touchdown touches of two and three yards. Tightening down on Central for most of the game, Huntingdon’s stingy defense was led by the gutsy play of Cade Pearson and Michael Arnhold. Tiger Isaiah Donald led his team with solid rushing and a strong, 13-tackle performance. Mustangs 28, Tigers 8 Huntingdon won the pre-game coin toss and deferred possession of the ball until the second half. Tiger Zayveon Johnson re- turned Mustang Zach Dodson’s game-opening boot to the Central 14 before being tackled hard by Huntingdon’s Elijah Wilkerson. Erupting through a gap in the Tiger line, Central runningback Isaiah Donald bulled for an 11- yard gain to move the chains at the Tiger 25. At the 7:23 mark of the first canto, Tiger Zayveon John- son exploded left side through a gap in the Mustang line and outran Mustang defenders 75 yards to paydirt. Donald added the two-point conversion up the gut as Central jumped out to an early 8-0 lead over Huntingdon. Mustang Zach Dodson returned Central kicker Amarion Gordon’s boot to the Huntingdon 24 before being brought down by Tiger C.J. Noles. Mustang Ben Clifft rushed left side for gains of three and seven yards to net a first down at the Central 34. Clifft rushed for a three-yard gain before fellow Mustang back Dodson raced left side for a gain of five and followed with a 22-yard burst to move the chains at the Tiger 38. Rushing up the middle, Clifft netted eight yards. Dropping back in the pock- et, Mustang quarterback Dylan Johnson fired a pin-point pass that was dropped at the goal line by a wide-open Huntingdon receiver. Undaunted, Mustang running- back Keeton Bailey battled for a first down at the Central 26 prior to Clifft’s 16-yard jaunt into the red zone for a first and goal at the Tiger ten. Bulling up the middle, Dodson fought to the Central three. Huntingdon’s impressive drive ended at the 2:43 mark of the first stanza as Clifft’s fumble was scooped up by Tiger Johnson and returned to the Central 15. Tiger runningback Donald powered to the Mustang 23 before being brought down by Hunting- don’s Michael Arnhold. Johnson followed with a first down scam- per to the 31 and four-yard carry to the Tiger 35 as time expired in the first frame with Central lead- ing Huntingdon, 8-0. Resuming play in the second quarter, Huntingdon linebacker Cade Pearson fought through Tiger defenders to drop Johnson eight yards deep in the backfield to force Central to punt away on fourth and 15. Tiger Quinton Hampton’s boot was downed at the Tiger 47. Utilizing two eight-yard rushes and three-yard bull by Clifft to move the chains to the Tiger 28, Mustang Dodson erupted right side and looked to be on the way to paydirt before being chased down by Donald at the Central one. Battling back, Tiger defenders’ Johnson and Quinton Hampton stopped Dodson for no gain. At the 4:49 mark of the second frame, Mustang Bailey followed the Huntingdon line surge into the end zone. Huntingdon two-point conversion rush failed as Clifft was gang-tackled deep in the back- field as the Mustangs narrowed the Tiger lead, 8-6. Central’s Amarion Gordon returned Mustang Dodson’s boot to the Tiger 42. Johnson fought for a gain of two before sweeping left side and being tackled for a loss of one by Pearson. On third and nine, Tiger Gordon dropped a would- be first down strike by Central quarterback Grant Davis. At the 2:55 mark of the second quarter, Mustang Dodson fielded Hamp- ton’s punt in full stride and jetted 60 yards down the right sideline to the house. Dodson added the two-point conversion via rush as Huntingdon led at the half, 14-8. Mustang Bailey returned Tiger Gordon’s second half-opening kickoff to the Huntingdon 24 be- fore being tackled by Hampton. Clifft was gang-tackled following a gain of one. Undeterred, Clifft cut left side and raced for a first down at the Central 39. Following Dodson’s two-yard gain on the en- suing play, Central was flagged for a horse-collar penalty that moved the ball to the Tiger 47. Clifft car- ried twice for gains of one and three yards before being tackled by Donald. Facing third and six, Dodson rushed right side and cut left to move the chains at the Tiger 33. Dodson swept right side for two yards before being brought down by Hunter Williams. On the next play. Dodson burst left side and faked out Central defenders before being tackled at the Tiger three. Following Bailey’s being tackled for a three-yard loss by Johnson and Donald, game officials penal- ized Central for another horse- collar tackle, moving the ball half the distance to the goal at the three. At the 3:28 mark of the third square, Bailey rushed up the middle to score and added the two- point conversion as Huntingdon widened its lead over Central, 22-8. Digging in, Huntingdon’s in- tensive defensive attack forced Central to punt on fourth and 27 with Hampton’s punt sailing out of bounds at the Tiger 40. Racing to the line, Mustang Dodson rushed for a gain of six and bounced right side for a first down at the central 26 as time expired in the third canto with Huntingdon leading, 22-8. On the first play of the fourth period, Mustang Dodson weaved right side to the 23 before being tackled out of bounds by Tiger pursuers as penalty flags flew. Marking off the personal foul on central, game officials marked the ball at the Tiger seven. On first and goal, Clifft fought to the four before being wrestled down by Donald. An illegal procedure call against Huntingdon moved the ball back to the Mustang nine. At the 6:38 mark of the fourth quar- ter, Dodson exploded right side to score. Johnson tackled Bailey in the backfield to thwart Hunting- don’s two-point conversion as the Mustangs surged to a 28-8 lead. Despite a gritty four-yard gain by Donald up the gut, Tiger Davis’ fourth and four keeper came up short as the Tigers turned the ball over on downs at their 23 at the 5:20 mark of the fourth quarter. Eating up the clock, Hunting- don utilized a three yard gain by Dodson on fourth and one to net a first and goal at the Central nine. On the next play, Bailey bulled to the two. Playing for pride, Cen- tral’s defense responded as Clifft was tackled hard by Johnson for no gain. Sweeping left side, Clifft was dropped two yards deep in the backfield by Amarion Gordon and Quinton Hampton. On fourth and five, Dodson was stopped for no gain by Johnson as the ball turned over on downs with 1:12 left on the game clock. On the ensuing play, Tiger Davis’ fumble was recovered by Huntingdon at the five. In a display of good sportsman- ship, Huntingdon opted to take consecutive knees and run out the clock before celebrating its hard-fought, 28-8 win over Central. HMS Mustangs Defeat CMS Tigers, 28-8 Tiger Isaiah Donald races for a first down against Huntingdon In the September 27 ar- ticle, HMS Mustangs Ground War Eagles, 54-0, Hunting- don runningback Elijah Wilkerson was not credited for a 55-yard touchdown rush. The Banner regrets the mistake. Correction

BRUCETON (October 4) Fol-lowing an impressive 75-yard touchdown scamper by CMS’ Zayveon Johnson early in the first quarter, the Central Middle School Tigers appeared poised to defeat Huntingdon (7-1), finish the year undefeated, and claim sole posses-sion of the Carroll County Middle School football championship.

The Mustangs, however, had other plans.

Galloping behind impressive offensive line blocking, Mustang running backs Zach Dodson (14 carries, 143 yards, nine-yard touchdown scamper, 60-yard punt return touchdown) and Ben Clifft (16 touches, 109 yards) showcased their amazing speed and elusive moves to lead Huntingdon to a commanding 28-8 win and sec-ond-consecutive county football crown.

Mustangs 28, Tigers 8Huntingdon won the pre-game

coin toss and deferred possession of the ball until the second half.

Tiger Zayveon Johnson re-turned Mustang Zach Dodson’s game-opening boot to the Central 14 before being tackled hard by Huntingdon’s Elijah Wilkerson. Erupting through a gap in the Tiger line, Central runningback Isaiah Donald bulled for an 11-yard gain to move the chains at the Tiger 25. At the 7:23 mark of the first canto, Tiger Zayveon John-son exploded left side through a gap in the Mustang line and outran Mustang defenders 75 yards to paydirt.

Rushing

up the middle, Clifft netted eight yards. Dropping back in the pock-et, Mustang quarterback Dylan Johnson fired a pin-point pass that was dropped at the goal line by a wide-open Huntingdon receiver. Undaunted, Mustang running-back Keeton Bailey battled for a first down at the Central 26 prior to Clifft’s 16-yard jaunt into the red zone for a first and goal at the Tiger ten. Bulling up the middle, Dodson fought to the Central three. Huntingdon’s impressive drive ended at the 2:43 mark of the first stanza as Clifft’s fumble was scooped up by Tiger Johnson and returned to the Central 15.

Tiger runningback Donald powered to the Mustang 23 before being brought down by Hunting-don’s Michael Arnhold. Johnson followed with a first down scam-per to the 31 and four-yard carry to the Tiger 35 as time expired in the first frame with Central lead-ing Huntingdon, 8-0.

Huntingdon two-point conversion rush failed as Clifft was gang-tackled deep in the back-field as the Mustangs narrowed the Tiger lead, 8-6.

Central’s Amarion Gordon returned Mustang Dodson’s boot to the Tiger 42. Johnson fought for a gain of two before sweeping left side and being tackled for a loss of one by Pearson. On third and nine, Tiger Gordon dropped a would-be first down strike by Central quarterback Grant Davis. At the 2:55 mark of the second quarter, Mustang Dodson fielded Hamp-ton’s punt in full stride and jetted 60 yards down the right sideline to the house. Dodson added the two-point conversion via rush as Huntingdon led at the half, 14-8.

Mustang Bailey returned Tiger

Gordon’s second half-opening kickoff to the Huntingdon 24 be-fore being tackled by Hampton. Clifft was gang-tackled following a gain of one. Undeterred, Clifft cut left side and raced for a first down at the Central 39. Following Dodson’s two-yard gain on the en-suing play, Central was flagged for a horse-collar penalty that moved the ball to the Tiger 47. Clifft car-ried twice for gains of one and three yards before being tackled by Donald. Facing third and six, Dodson rushed right side and cut left to move the chains at the Tiger 33. Dodson swept right side for two yards before being brought down

by Hunter Williams. On the next play. Dodson burst left side and faked out Central defenders before being tackled at the Tiger three. Following Bailey’s being tackled for a three-yard loss by Johnson and Donald, game officials penal-ized Central for another horse-collar tackle, moving the ball half the distance to the goal at the three. At the 3:28 mark of the third square, Bailey rushed up the middle to score and added the two-point conversion as Huntingdon widened its lead over Central, 22-8.

Digging in, Huntingdon’s in-tensive defensive attack forced Central to punt on fourth and 27

with Hampton’s punt sailing out of bounds at the Tiger 40.

At the 6:38 mark of the fourth quar-ter, Dodson exploded right side to score. Johnson tackled Bailey in the backfield to thwart Hunting-don’s two-point conversion as the Mustangs surged to a 28-8 lead.

Despite a gritty four-yard gain by Donald up the gut, Tiger Davis’

fourth and four keeper came up short as the Tigers turned the ball over on downs at their 23 at the 5:20 mark of the fourth quarter.

Eating up the clock, Hunting-don utilized a three yard gain by Dodson on fourth and one to net a first and goal at the Central nine. On the next play, Bailey bulled to the two. Playing for pride, Cen-tral’s defense responded as Clifft was tackled hard by Johnson for no gain.

In a display of good sportsman-ship, Huntingdon opted to take consecutive knees and run out the clock before celebrating its hard-fought, 28-8 win over Central.
