Our Christmas lights are shining bright in the night sky of Kialla Central. They are on from 8.30pm

until 11.30pm each day until Friday 22nd December. We have made a start to spread some Christmas spirit to the wider local community. I hope to build on our display in coming years. Mrs Monk was very impressed with the progress of our end of year concert performances. She has been away the last 2 weeks so she was eager to see how we were going. Students are required to wear the following: Mrs Gamble’s grade ~ plain green t-shirt Miss Baker’s grade ~ plain white t-shirt Mr Zito’s grade ~ plain red t-shirt Grade 6’s ~ Christmas motive t-shirt. All students to wear denim or black shorts or 3/4 pants with runners or converse style shoes. All students will also need: a cap, sunglasses and/or some bling. School Council sausage sizzle kicks off at 6.00pm with the concert and presentations starting at 7.00pm. Please note students need to be ready for our concert by 6.45pm. (Refer to attached flyer)

Last Friday we enjoyed our annual whole school Christmas lunch hosted by our wonderful Parents’ Club. All of the

students and staff had a delicious hot lunch of roast chicken, roast potatoes, pumpkin and a medley of mixed vegetables with gravy and a bread roll. Dessert was red or green jelly with ice cream and a chocolate Santa. Staff were also spoilt with a lovely cheese platter.

It was great to see so many helpers supporting Parents’ Club for this unique event. On behalf of K.C.P.S.

students and staff I would like to thank: Lisa Irwin, Deanne Moulsdale, Annette Hunt, Amy Keat, Bonnie Morgan, Tracy Blake, Kelly Stapleton, Gayle & Keturah Nelson, Carmen Kerr, Nicole Brimson, Patsi Makaronis and Cheryl Rowstron. (See Classroom Wrap for photos.) On Monday 11th December our students found out about our End of Year Local Excursion. This year we are going to Oz Tenpin Star Bowl and heading to Casablanca for lunch and a disco. Morning tea and water will be supplied. Students need to be in school uniform, wear runners and have their hat. Permission notes and pizza orders are due back on Friday 15th December. The cost of this excursion is covered in our Excursion Levy as part of our yearly levies. However, if you have not paid these levies then there is a cost of $15.00 per student for your child to attend.

Our Grade 6 Graduation is on Thursday 14th December. Our 6 graduates have selected their menu

and theme for this year. They will enjoy a meal with our staff before their family and friends arrive for the formal part of the evening. This is a very special time for our Grade 6s as they share their Orientation Day stories, their res-ervations about secondary school and reflect on their primary school years. Once again thank you to Parents’ Club who cater for our Gradu-ation. I would also like to thank Mr Zito for his preparation to make this memorable for our students and their families.

Donations for our “Baskets of Joy” have now closed. We have filled our 5 baskets and a couple of boxes due to your kind generosity. They were picked up today and will be given to families in need. I believe that it is important for our students to contribute to our broader community and to have an understanding that there are less fortunate people in our community and to appreciate what they have.

Thank you for your support!

Today was our state wide Orientation Day. At Kialla Central, all of our students spend the day in their new grades for next year. This gives them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with their new room, gain an insight into the expectations required at that next level and spend time with their teacher. While some students don’t change grades or teachers, they have new class dynamics to adjust to. Our 2018 Foundation students have had a fantastic orientation program and are already confidently settling into school routines. Our buddies have been great at helping our new students find their way around school and lead by example. Thank you to all of the parents for your support during this process. I know it can be quite an uncertain time for all of you, however, be reassured that your feelings are

normal and that the kids are more resilient than we give them credit for. They adapt to change much quicker than we do as adults. G.V. Dental Health is offering free dental treatment for children aged 0 to 12 years through Goulburn Valley Health. All children who receive dental treatment at G.V. health are placed on regular recall to monitor their oral health. If you wish to take advantage of this service, contact the G.V. Health Dental Clinic on 5832 3050 for an appointment.

On Friday 22nd December is our last day of school and students are expected to attend. Our Grade 6s

have their traditional out of uniform day as they spend their last day at primary school. Students will participate in activities as well as help cleaning up. School finishes at 1.30pm. Our afternoon bus will leave school at 1.30pm so you will need to make arrangements for the earlier drop off times. Outside School Hours Care will also operate from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Please ensure you have arrangements in place for your child/ren to be collected.

BUNNINGS BBQ HELPERS … Thank you to the families who have offered to help with out Bunnings BBQ on Sunday 14th January 2018. It is a profita-ble day for our school so I am pleased that we are able to go ahead with it. If you would like to help please let me know, as we are a couple of helpers short for the afternoon times. I will send home a confirmation letter and roster for helpers who have returned their form. Once again thanks for your support.

Booklists for 2018 were due back today and orders have now closed. We will be placing orders this week to

ensure our stationery arrives on time for you to pay and pick up your child/ren’s booklists on:

Tuesday 23rd January OR Wednesday 24th January

between 10.00am to 3.00pm from the office. Otherwise, they can be picked up from school when staff return on Monday 29th January.

Our favourite bus driver, Dale McCully, is having shoulder surgery next Monday. As a result, we will have a

different bus driver for the last week of term. His name is Maurie McKellar. Dale has taken him around the bus route. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Dale all the best with his surgery and we hope he has a speedy recovery.

We are in an extremely busy time of the year. There are lots of things happening not only at school but requirements that need to be completed for the Department. Your understanding and co-operation is greatly appreciated. Debbie Humphries Proud Principal of K.C.P.S.
