On Monday 5th June our students had a Circus Challenge incursion where they watched a performance by Demi & Connor

before participating in a workshop themselves. They learnt how to juggle with scarves, spin plates and do some acrobatics.

Our students had a lot of fun and were all very determined to master the circus skills. We are fortunate to have our own circus kit that the students used during lunch time and will be quite popular for the next few weeks. May I suggest you put away the fine china …

School photos are coming up on Tuesday 20th July. Envelopes were sent home yesterday for each student. Anyone wanting a family photo or a leadership photo such as School Captains, House Captains or Junior School Council are required to collect a special envelope from

the office. All envelopes and payment must be returned to school before or on the day of photos.

Parent/Teacher Interviews are taking place on Thursday 29th June from 3.45pm to 6.45pm and again on Friday 30th June from 9.00am to 12.45pm. There is no school on Friday 30th June, however, all students are expected to attend their interview. This is an important time to discuss your child’s progress and celebrate his/her achievements. Booking sheets were sent home today and it is first in best dressed. A confirmation letter of your time will be sent home in your eldest child’s report. Interview forms are due back by Wednesday 14th June. If your form is not returned a time will be allocated to you.

Our Open Day sessions and alternative appointments have been quite successful. We have had 20 new

families visit our school. So far we have 12 confirmed enrolments for 2018 and another 15 who are yet to make a decision. Our hard work seems to be starting to pay off.

Last Friday our Foundation to Grade 3 students were meant to have a visit from the GV Dental Group to learn about oral hygiene, prevention of diseases and how to clean their teeth.

Unfortunately, the dentist and hygienist were both sick and they were unable to come. This visit has been re-scheduled for August.

Today Azem Elmez visited our school to talk to our students about the GV Soup Kitchen and his community service. He also

collected our donations for the Winter Drive appeal. Our students were very interested in Azem’s story and were quite surprised that Shepparton has homeless people. I would like to thank everyone who donated to this appeal. I strongly believe the community service activities we undertake to educate our students, giving them a broader understanding of society in general, as well as shows them how they can actively con-tribute to their community. I would like to acknowledge and thank Amy Keat for organising the Winter Drive Appeal and the support of Parents’ Club.

As you are aware, I am going on Long Service Leave and my last day at school is next Wednesday 14th June. Mr Zito is acting Principal while I am away.

In Term 3, Miss Baker is on leave for the first 3 weeks and Mrs Gamble is going to be away for all of the term on Long Service Leave. I would like to wish Miss Baker & Mrs

Gamble all the best and safe travels. As a result, the following arrangements will be taking place for the 1st three weeks: I will be teaching Foundation to Grade 3 Monday to Wednesday with the support of Mrs Opie. Mrs Nicole O’Donnell is teaching Thursday & Friday also with the support of Mrs Opie. There are only 28 students across these 4 year levels. When Miss Baker returns on Monday 7th August, the same teaching arrangements will happen with Mrs O’Donnell and myself for the F/1s and Mrs Opie will resume her normal timetable. I have given these arrangements a lot of thought and my decision is based on what is less disruptive for all our students and provides consistency. Yes things will be busy but it will be business as usual. If you have any concerns about these arrangements please come and see me.

K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition 2017 Talking Footy with Magpic Magpie

Round 11 Wrap

This week was the split round with Lions, Blues, Demons, Saints, Swans, & Bulldogs all having byes and a chance to freshen up. Round 11 kicked off with another Thursday night game between the Power and the very inconsistent Hawks. Power taught the Hawks a footy lesson by 51 points.

Friday night saw the Cats and the Crows battle it out at Simonds Stadium. The Crows gave the Cats a scare in the second half. The final score seeing the Cats home by 22 points.

Saturday afternoon saw the Suns host the Eagles at home. This was a nail biting finish with the Suns getting home by 3 points. Gary Ablett Junior was in scintillating form and could do no wrong. The Giants confirmed their dominance at the top of the ladder with a 16 point win over the Bombers. More heart ache for all of those Bombers fans.

Saturday night saw the Kangas host the Tigers at Etihad. On recent form it was set to be a game that could go either way. Unfortunately, the Kangas weren’t up to the challenge, the Tigers midfielders and Dustin Martin proving to be simply too strong the Kangas. Tiges home by 38 points. On Sunday the Magpies continued their interstate winning form heading to Subiaco to defeat the Dockers by 20 points!

Footy Tipping Star of the Week – These tippers picked 5 winners: Bomber Blitz, Curtis Laidlaw, Frog, Mrs O, Specky Magee & The Big Bomb.

Footy Tipping Ladder Leaders – for Round 11 are: Specky Magee has gained the lead out in front on 59. Little Bomber, Magic Magpies, Tiger Trouble & Two Tigers are all on 57. Only one behind on 56 are: Crazy TCs, Fope’s Heroes, Patsi M, Saint C, Toby the Wonderdog & Tradie Sam.

The Jackpot remains untouched as no one tipped 6 this round. Over the split rounds you need to get Round 11 & 12 all correct. So that means our Jackpot for Round 13 will be $185.30 providing all tipsters are financial, well worth winning!!! Good tipping everyone!
