Last Friday Junior School Council hosted a pyjama and/or beanie day. It
was great to see nearly all of our students wear their PJs and/or a beanie as well as our staff and some of our Mums. This was not a fundraiser it was just a day of fun as we head into our last week of a rather interesting term. Thank you to everyone for your support! See our class photos in our Classroom Wrap. We have received 19 K.C.P.S. Parent / Carers Surveys back, however, we have 54 families currently in our school. It would be great to get a few more surveys returned to ensure we have an accurate cross section of views from our school community. If you have not yet completed this survey it is not too late to do it and return it to school by Wednesday 24th June. Thank you to those families who have taken the time to complete and return this survey.
School finishes at 2.15pm this coming Friday 26th June. Our bus and Outside School Hours Care are operating as per
usual. However, please be aware that the bus drop offs will be an hour earlier and OSHC will finish at 4.30pm. Please ensure you have alternative arrangements in place for this change of times.
End of term is also a good chance for students to check if there are any supplies they need for Term 3 e.g. glue stick, scissors, pens, grey leads, ruler etc.
After the positive COVID result from Essendon’s Conor McKenna the AFL Season is in disarray, especially for Footy Tipping. As we are heading into School Holidays we require 3 weeks of Footy Tipping. However, the AFL has only released the first 5 rounds of the season. So we only have tipping sheets for rounds 4 & 5 to send home. Round 6 falls the last weekend of the holidays. If the AFL release further rounds of the fixture then we will be able to send the Round 6 tipping sheet home separately. If this does not happen then you will need to email your tips to me prior to the start of the first scheduled game of round 6 to:
[email protected] As per our usual rules if you don’t submit your tips then you are given the away teams.
Student School Banking will resume next term. Our School Banking day is on Wednesdays, please remind your child to hand in his/her bank book at 9.00am. If you would like to find out more
information about the school banking program please see Mrs Opie. A big thank you to Mrs O who looks after our school banking program.
The Jemma Daldy seat has undergone some maintenance done to it and has been located in our revamped eating area. This area is
almost complete as School Council has selected the company who will be doing our shade structures. I hope can be done in the July holidays. Then we have some synthetic grass to lay to finish this space. The students are loving this new space as they have more room to enjoy their morning teas, lunches and can use it as an outdoor learning area.
Well it certainly has been a challenging time with Term 1 coming to an abrupt holt on Monday 23rd March. We were all required to be in isolation, which was not quite what we had planned for the holidays. We were given extra Curriculum Days to plan for the unknown called Flexible and Remote Learning. It began on Wednesday 15th April for all Victorian students. Only essential service workers children were allowed to attend school for supervision on-site of Flexible and Remote Learning. Every student requiring to be on-site were required to fill in an application form and gain the Principal’s approval based on the guidelines put in place from the Department. More restrictions were placed on Victorians with strong messages “If you can learn and work from home the you must stay at home”. On Monday 25th May schools received a Curriculum Day where all staff returned to school and we were then preparing for returning to school. F/1/2 students came back to school on Tuesday 26th May and boy were they excited to be back! Grade 3 to 6 continued with their Flexible and Remote Learning. On Tuesday 9th June our Grades 3 to 6 students were allowed back to school too and they were also very happy to be back. With some new procedures in place we have all settled back into some sort of normality. Thank you for all of your support, assistance and positive feedback you have given during these times. We have an amazing team who have earnt a well deserved holiday.
Stay safe, healthy and enjoy the break!

K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition 2020
Talking Footy with Magic Magpies
Round 4 Wrap
What a controversial round of footy. What will come of the 2020 AFL Season now? It has also had an impact on footy tipping competitions. At this stage, for the K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition this round will be scored out of 8 with the Bombers and Dees being Postponed. When or if this game is eventually played the tip you selected for Round 3 will stand.
Thursday night the Tigers took on the Hawks at the MCG. The Hawks hit the scoreboard with a five goals first term leaving the Tigers goalless. It is the Tigers first loss at the MCG since round 12 last year and their first defeat in more than 12 months. Final scores the Tigers 5.9 (39) to the Hawks 11.5 (71).
On Friday night the Bulldogs took on the Giants at Marvel Stadium. The Bulldogs physically dominated the Giants side that had embarrassed them last September. It was fierce, hard-nosed footy that at times lacked polish but was never without effort or intensity. The Bulldogs won by 24 points.
On Saturday the Swans ended the Kangas red-hot start to the season, downing the previously undefeated Kangas by 11 points at Marvel Stadium. The 10.11 (71) to 8.12 (60) win was the Swans’ sixth from their past seven games against the Kangas.
The Magpies avoided the fate of several other fancied teams in round 3, crushing the Saints by 44 points on Saturday to remain undefeated in season 2020. The Magpies fought out a low scoring draw with reigning premier Richmond 9 days ago but returned to the winner’s circle in a 12.9 (81) to 5.7 (37) result at the MCG.
The Blues set up its first win at the Cattery since 1996 with a brilliant opening first quarter. In an unpredictable and topsy-turvy game the Blues held on for a 2 point victory 12.7 (79) to the Cats 11.11 (77).
The Lions notched up back-to-back wins after accounting for the Eagles by 30 points at the Gabba on Saturday night. After a low-scoring first half, the Lions exploded in the 3rd term with 5 goals to blow the game open. Final score the Lions 10.14 (74) to the Eagles 6.8 (44).
On Sunday the Suns created history with their first win over the Crows for a 53 point win. Final score Suns 12.10 (82) to Crows 4.5 (29).
The final game that was played this weekend was between the Dockers and the Power. The Power sit clear on top of the ladder, with a 29-point win over the Dockers. Power trailed at quarter time, but an impressive second term paved the way for a 10.10 (70) to 6.5 (41) victory! Footy Tipping Stars of the Week – for Round 3 was ~ Casey Leijen with an impressive 6 tips. Then tipping 5 were: April Laidlaw, Bob Hawk, Daniel & Simone M, Deescraceful, Fairy Princess, Jarmen Impey, Marris Magpies, Rebecca Rosevear, Rocket, Steady, Tiger Trouble, Tom Will Do and Zander & Oscar M.
Footy Tipping Ladder Leaders ~ at the completion of Round 3 are: Digger’s Rooboys & Rebecca Rosevear are both on 18. Then Bomber 10, Casey Leijen, Tiger Trouble, Tom Will Do, and Yellow & Black are one off the pace with 17 tips. Followed by Karen’s Kangas, the Opie family Mrs O, Narkle, Specky Magee & Who Am I, The Bolt and Twisty are all 3rd with 16 correct tips.
Don’t forget you need to pick 3 rounds of tipping to cover the holidays.
Obviously this is subject to the decision made by the AFL and State Government as to whether the season continues.
Jackpot is $78.00 this week!
