Tony Carrillo. I graduated from Chisholm High School in 2008. I then went on to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where I completed my general education courses and played football. I moved back to Chisholm and got my degree in electrical maintenance and construction from Hibbing Community College. I am currently employed at Minntac Mine as an industrial electrician and am very active with my Local USW Union. I reside in Chisholm with my wife, Ashley and her daughter, Mya, and two of the bet dogs on the planet, Maggie and Apollo. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to McCarthys Beach, our family cabin on Vermillion, tinkering in my garage and the great variety of offerings our area provides. Rita Charter. I was born and raised as a Chisholm Bluestreak! In 1972, I graduated from Chisholm High School and earned my Bachelors degree from Mankato State in 1976. Later, I completed a Masters degree from the College of St. Scho- lastica. In the course of almost 40 years, I was blessed every day to work as a job I was pas- sionate about—teaching. To be able to teach at the high school I graduated from was truly a gift; therefore, de- spite my retirement from ISD #695 in 2014, I went back to work in a classroom setting so that I could stay in touch with my stu- dents—the best energy source on the planet! I have been working part-time now for more than three years. When I am not at the cabin on Little Sturgeon, you will find me travel- ing, at the gym, volunteering or enjoying time with friends and family. Jen Gigliotti. Jen moved to Chisholm in 2014 where she and her husband, Nick, started their careers as physical therapists with Big Stone Therapies in both Chisholm and Hib- bing. Jen was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. In addition to working as a physical therapist, Jen is also co-owner of one of Chisholms newest downtown business- es, 30 West Fitness and Recreation, where she enjoys helping the community reach their health and fitness goals. With grants and volun-teerism from the CCF Board of Directors, the CCF is involved in all these activities. As a final note, please consider donating to the Chisholm Com-munity Foundation. For those that have donated in the past—THANK YOU! For those that continue to donate on an ongoing basis—THANK YOU! And for those who might consider donating in the future—THANK YOU! Every donation helps fund a project or helps a deserv-ing student further their education. Best regards, Jay Madigan, CCF Chair

25th Annual Golf Outing. Monday, July 26, 2021. Mesaba Country Club, Hibbing. Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. Start-time—Noon.

Valentini’s Supper Club Annual Burger Bash. Date to be determined. 4:00 p.m.—6:30 p.m.

Keyboard Liquor Holiday Festival. Friday, December 3, 2021. 6:00 p.m.—8:00 p.m. at Valentini’s Supper Club.

Greetings Fellow Investors! “...together we can do so much.” The state of the Chisholm Community Foundation (CCF) is strong. The funds we are stewards of total $2,773,398. Just completing the first grant cycle of 2021, we awarded $54,208 in grants and $29,400 in scholarships to graduating seniors from the Chisholm Public Schools. Like our entire society, the CCF has faced challenges this past year as well. Fundraising activities came to an abrupt halt, yet the Foundation awarded over $180,000 in 2020 in grants and scholarships. As we recover from Covid-19 restrictions, our mission is to continue working with non-profits to improve the lives of Chisholm and Balkan residents. On June 26, 2021, the Minnesota Discovery Center will host the Grand Opening of the Redhead Moun-tain Bike Park (see Insert). July 26th will mark the 25th anniversary of our CCF Golf Outing. We have the capacity to have 36 teams enter this scramble. Please mark the date and put a foursome together! $100 per golfer buys a round of golf, lunch and din-ner following the event at Valentini’s. Doc Graham Days is taking place August 4th through August 8th. The St. Louis County Fair also runs August 4th through August 8th. The CCF is planning a burger bash for sometime late this summer or fall. The an-nual Keyboard Liquor Holiday Party will be held on December 3, 2021 at Valentini’s. We are also dis-cussing ideas for an event at the 2022 All Class Re-

Chairman of the Board Report

This past February, the Chisholm Community Foundation joined forces with Valentini’s Supper Club in a fun, unique friendraiser called the Chisholm Chili Warm-up. We coincided the event with the Polar Bear Days’ event “Sled the City,” allowing folks to “warm-up” after a fun afternoon of sledding in downtown Chisholm.

We divided and conquered by having CCF board members selling tickets and helping out on the sledding hill, as well as

folks serving up meal orders for both Covid-friendly curbside and indoor dining. All-in-all, we ended up selling 160 tickets

and raising over $1,400 for the

Chisholm Community Founda-

tion. On behalf of all CCF

board members, I would like to

thank the staff at Valentini’s for

their wonderful collaboration

and teamwork in this event with

us. As we are nearing the end of

spring and welcoming the sum-

mer season, we are looking for-

ward to more community in-

volvement and fundraising

events that can help us work

toward furthering our vision of

stewardship and investment in our wonderful city of Chisholm.
