Happy New year…
Take out your “Fortune Fish” and lay it flat on your hand. Observe to see your special New Year Fortune.
What questions do you have about this “toy”?
Did everyone’s fish act the same way?
What do you think caused it to move the way it did?
What kind of fair test could you design to test your hypothesis?

Night of No Limits – May 28, 2015
• This is an evening where your students bring projects and present them in a classroom or in a gallery.
• The projects should be based on your grade level TEKS and should reflect the student’s inquiry into something that they design.
• Although all academic subjects will be expected to participate, science lends itself easily to the inquiry process.
• More information about the Night of No Limits will be provided at your grade level PLC mentioned in the previous slide.

Digital Resource Exploration• Want to make accessing resources in
HMH easier? Some resources have a web address that can be copied for easy access during your lesson. Watch as your presenter clicks below to see how these links take you right to a leveled reader and a digital lesson.

Turn and Talk:
In what way can this “trick” make your academic life easier???
Digital Resource Exploration• This only works if the resource has a web
address. • Just log in as a teacher, find the resource
and see if it has a web address. • Cut and paste that into something that is
easy for you to access. You won’t even have to log in to show the resource when you access the link.
• It might be an accident that this works but let’s take advantage of it as long as it does work.
Today’s Lab Activity• TEKS Covered-4.6C Demonstrate the
electricity travels in a closed path, creating an electrical circuit
• With your group, use the materials provided to create circuits– Parallel– Series
• How many light bulbs can you light in your circuit?
• Be sure to take some pictures to show your students some examples!
Today’s Lab Activity• This makes a great inquiry project!
– What happens if we use different light bulbs?
– Does the size of the wire affect the number of light bulbs will light up?
– What other inquiry questions could students ask?
Speaking of Inquiry…• What will the weeks of Inquiry look like?• It will be the 14 days before Spring Break• Students will create a testable questions• Plan out their experiment • Write a conclusion• Create a technology piece to present to the
class• Some grades that can be taken:
– Planning Sheet– Flip Book– CER– Presentation
Speaking of Inquiry…• Information and resources to help you
are provided in Netschool.• You are free to provide different types of
documents to help your students…Don’t forget to share awesome ideas!
• Remember that Inquiry Weeks should be student led, you are there to provide guidance as needed. Students can choose to investigate any topics covered or another area of interest.
End Results of Inquiry…• Students will have created, planned and
implemented an inquiry based project, used the Scientific Method as well as implemented many of the Process Standards.
• Students will have also used free choice with technology to create a presentation piece.
• At the end of 14 days, teacher will have many projects to choose from to submit to Night of No Limits!
Planning!!• We will use the remainder of our time today
planning from NOW until SPRING BREAK! • We have only 4 units:
– Finish Forms of Energy
– Electricity, Circuits, and Magnetism
– Force, Motion, and Energy
– Science Inquiry Weeks• Please divide up into 4 groups. Each group will
plan out these 4 units.
