4 Community Updates
4.1 Krista Adams MP – Councillor for Holland Park
Refer Cr Adam’s report below.
Some Traffic Management Plan improvements may get actioned without requiring TMP approval, however will be 6-8 weeks minimum.
4.2 Carmel Nash – Executive Director, QLD P&F Federation
Four staff employed by QLD P&F Federation: o There are four staff members at the Federation Secretariat. The Executive Director is
Carmel Nash, Executive Officers are Bernadette Kreutzer and Charmaine Stevens.
Full details about QLD P&F Federation can be found here: http://www.pandf.org.au
Funded by levy (not membership fee): $6.40 per student per year ($2163 /yr (338 students)). Part payments may be possible.
Potential concerns from P&F Executive: cost vs benefit, template constitution.
Carmel indicated that School P&F only exists as School exists, Principal has final say, P&F not incorporated body. P&F has no (standalone) insurance, only comes through school. Principal must agree and sign off on everything that is done.
CCI (Catholic Church Insurance) can clarify what's covered under school insurance.
QLD P&F Federation provides: o Advocacy services to many organisations and government bodies. o Capital funding help (QCEC). o Representation on Qld Curriculum & Assessment Authority Committee and many other
organisations. o Parent engagement (via conferences and surveys)
ACTION: P&F Executive to get contact from website and fill out electronically.
Q: how does good work being done benefit our P&F? >> Politicians don’t' care about P&Fs individually, care about parents as they're voters.
Q: How is input sought from parents? >> Through diocese & council (monthly meetings). Every 2yrs survey done with P&Fs. Name change coming up for Federation, letters going to P&Fs in couple weeks. Feedback showing that parents often not attending P&F as they feel it is all about fundraising.
Q: Is communication with P&Fs only to paying members? >> No, all schools get monthly newsletter.
Q: How is communication done with P&F with regards to advocacy? >> When contact form is sent in, contact is made to P&F president.
Q: What is levy cost? >> $6.40 per student = $2163 (338 students). Bishops requested inclusion of levy into constitution.
Q: Does Federation do lobbying? >> No, advocacy work only - building relationships with both sides of government, plus Independent politicians.

GENERAL MEETING
Minutes of Meeting held at 7pm on Tuesday 12th June 2018
Q: Is there a consequence of not joining? >> No direct access to support services, but no loss of insurance etc.
Q: What percentage of schools pay exclusively for levy >> Don't believe any schools fully fund the levy (most build into school fees).
Q: Does accepting the P&F Federation model constitution, change structure of P&F >> No. Thoughts from group post Carmel’s presentation:
$2k seems like a lot to pay in levy, for value provided.
Part payment may be a valid option.
Major gains by leveraging advocacy (important to have a voice at all levels).
Important to achieve greater parent engagement. ACTION: Executive to consider further, with view of raising a motion regarding membership
decision, at next meeting.

Principal’s Report
We have had an amazingly eventful term with the fete as the highlight. The fete as well as being a major
fundraiser was a wonderful community event enjoyed not only by our own families and staff but also the parish
and wider community.
Visitors commented to me on the day and even wrote to me after the event expressing how impressed they were
with the energy, creativity, enthusiasm and community spirit. Well done to all involved and thank you. It certainly is
a privilege to be a part of such a great community.
Staff Updates:
Mrs van Trier and Mrs Chesmar are currently on family and sick leave and Mrs French and Mrs Lucas have Long
Service Leave to end the term.
Congratulations to Liam who has been selected as a part of the Brisbane Catholic Education Pilgrimage to the
2019 World Youth Day in Panama. Liam will be one of 20 Brisbane Catholic Education staff members attending
the 2019 World Youth Day. This is a very special spiritual formation opportunity for Liam and we look forward to
him sharing his experience with us on his return at the beginning of the 2019 school year.
General:
As the term ends the teachers are busily completing reports. The Semester One reports will be available for
access on the Parent Portal on Friday 29 June.
This Friday we have our last inter school sport days facilitated by senior students from Clairvaux MacKillop. Our
Year 4 to 6 students have had a great few weeks and we are looking at continuing and hopefully expanding the
program next year.
The Coles Sports for Schools Program was successful, and we have been very fortunate to order storage for the
sport shed.
The Rebel Sports Store at Macgregor has a promotion where 5% of every purchase goes back to whatever
school or sporting club nominated by the customer. Each quarter the points are to be redeemed or are lost. Last
quarter we received $700 of equipment ball, pumps, soccer goals and markers.
We continue to keep busy with Year 6 students today representing St Agnes as one of 32 schools at St Stephens
Algester for Readers Cup, next week we have 4 teams representing St Agnes in the first round of a debating
competition at St Elizabeth with senior students from Our Lady’s as adjudicators. Last week the choir attended
their first rehearsal for the Choral festival. This weekend some of our music students will be busking for charity at
the Mt Gravatt Markets. To the end the term we have Year 3 and 4 students climbing Kaggar Mabul, Mt Gravatt
Mountain and on Friday 29 June we will end the term with a Celebration of Learning and the Let Your Light Shine
awards.
Tudor Street Changes:
We have had confirmation from Brisbane City Council that they will be making some changes in Tudor Street to
assist with the traffic flow. The following three changes are to be acted in the coming weeks:
NO PARKING on Tudor Street between 2.30pm and 3.30pm between our driveway entry and the corner
of Pitcairn St
The current loading zone between the two driveways will be changed to a small bus loading zone and
10min car parking
To the immediate left of the driveway exit, the current No Standing will be replaced with a yellow line
Once the parking changes have been clearly signed the Council Compliance Officers will be making frequent trips
to the street to check motorists are obeying the traffic rules. Council are still considering other ways to improve
traffic flow around St Agnes.

GENERAL MEETING
Minutes of Meeting held at 7pm on Tuesday 12th June 2018
Treasurer’s Report – May 2018
Funds Available
$116k represents cash account balance as at 31 May 2018. Please note that a lot of fete
expenses have been paid in June so this does not represent the cash balance today. The next
P&F meeting will give a more accurate cash position. It is approximately $15k-$18k less than this
figure.
Activities Report – 1 May 2018 to 31 May 2018
Inflows: $70k
o A lot of this was Fete Income. Overall fete profit approximately $35k. Julie will run through
the fete financials in my absence.
o The Mother’s day stall made a $433 profit.
o Term 1 tuckshop sales transferred to the main account in May - $7.5k
o Uniform shop sales for May were $2.9k
o Received $900 from Andrew Kwintowski for Mini Mudder photos from last year. Andrew
kindly took the photos on the day and parents were able to purchase the photos through
his website.
Outflows: $20k.
o $15-$18k fete expenses not included in this figure as paid in June.
o $9k was balance payment on fete rides
o $1.7k tuckshop expenses
o $3.9k Uniform shop supplies – mainly St Agnes jackets and tracksuits etc.
Other Points:
- The majority of fete expenses and reimbursements have been paid. I have only a handful left
to pay but these have been accounted for in our fete financials. Thank you to everyone for
submitting their claims so quickly after the event so we could get a fairly accurate fete profit
figure before this meeting.
- All expense transactions in May have been online. I will continue to do all payments this way.
It still requires dual authorisation and for the 2 of us to process the payment at the same time
on the same device, but is proving more efficient than the old cheque system.
- Jason Gillespie has said he will do the review of the 2017 accounts again this year so
hopefully we will have these finalised before the next meeting in August.
- Thank you to everyone involved with the Treasury function for the fete – with the banking, the
Tally room on the day, the paying of expenses and reimbursements post fete and to Julie and
Katrina for helping finalise the ‘almost final’ figures.

Coorparoo & Districts Neighbourhood
Plan
Pacific Motorway Noise Barrier
Maintenance
Brisbane City Council is preparing a neighbourhood
plan for the Coorparoo and districts area, which
includes parts of Coorparoo, Greenslopes, Camp
Hill, Holland Park and Holland Park West. Once
complete, the neighbourhood plan will become part
of Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan) to guide new
development.
The neighbourhood plan is an opportunity to
consider and plan for future growth and to protect the
aspects of the area that residents love.
The Queensland Government recently completed its
review of the draft neighbourhood plan and now is
your opportunity to have a say. The formal public
consultation period is now open and Council invites
you to have your say by making a formal submission
on the draft plan by 5pm Friday 8 June 2018. (See
attached Newsletter)
Information sessions commence Thursday 10 May.
(See attached Newsletter)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads would
like to advise that noise barrier maintenance works
along the Pacific Motorway will be commencing on
the western side of the Pacific Motorway between
Shepstone Street, Holland Park and Arnwood Street
Park, Annerley.
These works will improve the effectiveness and
safety of the noise barriers, helping reduce traffic
noise for local residents.
Timing:
Works will commence from mid-May 2018 and
be completed mid-July 2018, construction and
weather conditions permitting.
Standard construction will be from 7:00am to
5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Occasional night works may be carried out for works in close proximity to the Pacific
Motorway from 7:00pm to 5:00am, Sunday to
Thursday.
Works will include:
Noise barrier repairs.
Installation of additional noise barrier panels at
specific locations.
Trimming of overhanging vegetation growing
on the noise barrier.
Expected impacts:
Changed traffic conditions may include reduced
speed limits, lane or shoulder closures and minor
delays. Traffic control and signage on the Pacific
Motorway will be in place as required. Please
allow extra time when planning your travel.
Pedestrian, cyclist and motorist access will be
maintained at all times, however pedestrian and
cyclist detours may be in place as required.
Nearby residents/businesses may experience
short term impacts, including noise, dust and light from construction equipment and activities
onsite.

Park Improvements
Glindeman Park Revitalisation Project continues
until mid 2018.
The Glindemann Park revitalisation works are planned for the southern area of the park and aim to:
improve the health of the waterway and ecosystems
revegetate the banks of the local creek to enhance the riparian corridors
create shady subtropical habitats for native plants and wildlife
connect residents to the scenic qualities and visual character of the waterway
encourage interaction with nature.
Whites Hill Reserve Track Refurbishment
Work will also include repair works to 28 timber steps to bring these up to safety requirements and the existing timber stairs and handrails will be pressure cleaned to improve surface condition and safety.
Traffic lights at entrance on Boundary Road almost completed.
Resident Parking Permit Consultation Logan Road Pedestrian Refuge at High
Street
Streets around Holland Park Busway, both
sides of Freeway
Council requires at least 60% of residents to
support the proposed scheme for it to be
implemented.
Residential Parking Permit Schemes help
manage parking by implementing time-
limited parking restrictions (eg. 2P parking),
while providing exemptions for residents and their visitors who have a valid resident
or visitor parking permit.
Resident and visitor parking permits
currently cost $10 each, per year. Permits
would be capped at one resident parking
permit and one visitor parking permit per
household to help ensure the effectiveness
of a new scheme. Residents who are
expecting guests (eg. for a private function)
can also apply for short-term visitor permits 14 days prior to the event, to allow for
permits to be issued.
Council has considered feedback received during the consultation phase and is pleased to confirm that the project will proceed to construction. The treatments to proceed to construction include:
installing a concrete median island with a pedestrian crossing facility on Logan Road
formalising the right-hand turn pocket from Logan Road into Mountain Street
relocating the inbound bus stop #2233 (stop 36, Logan Rd at High Street) approximately 78 metres north-west on Logan Road
relocating the outbound bus stop #2228 (stop 36, Logan Rd at High Street) approximately 50 metres south-east on Logan Road
upgrading kerb ramps and sections of footpath
installing line marking
turfing.
