Prayer to St. Thérèse,
the Little Flower
O Glorious St. Thérèse, whom Almighty
God has raised up to aid and inspire the
human family, I implore your miraculous
intercession. I fervently beseech you to
answer my petition…(here state your
request)...and to carry out your promises of
spending Heaven doing good upon earth.
Little Flower of Jesus, give me your
childlike faith, to see the face of God in all
people and experiences of my life, and to
love God with full confidence. Help me to
always believe, as you did, in God’s great
love for me, so that I might imitate your
“little way” each day. Amen.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

The Franciscan Friars invite you to join them in welcoming St. Anthony of Padua to Saint Anthony’s Church, Barstow
Street, Mattapoisett. Holy Mass at 8 AM, Veneration after Mass until 1:30 PM. St. Anthony will be visiting in the form of
two precious and first-class relics from the Pontifical Basilica in Padua, Italy. The relics will be accompanied by Father
Alessandro Ratti, one of the OFM Conventual Franciscan Friars who minister in the Basilica where the Saint is buried.
Prayer petitions with holy cards will be distributed by Friar Alessandro to allow parishioners to write their personal
prayer petition to the saint. The writing of your intentions is a worldwide tradition when venerating a relic of a saint.
Father Alessandro will bring the petitions back to the Basilica in Padua and place them at the tomb of St. Anthony. The
tour officially ends back at the Tomb of St. Anthony where the Friars will gather to pray for our intentions and petitions.

From the Moderator
Being a collaborative isn’t just trying to keep three parishes going with fewer clergy. Rather, it is to appreciate that
we can be stronger together. Here is an update on many areas:
Administration. Instead of replicating the same tasks and roles three ways, we are slowly bringing all our adminis-
trative roles into a unified vision. This will not only save some money, but it will also improve the services we can
provide to our collaborative. A central administrative office space will be located at the present St. Mary’s Parish
Offices in the next few weeks. The Collaborative’s Administrative Assistant, Director of Finance & Operations, Pas-
toral Associate, Director of Adult Enrichment, Coordinators of Faith Formation and the office of the Moderator will
be located. Since Fr. Raposo still resides at Our Lady of Fatima Rectory, his personal office will remain there to meet
with couples. We have implemented a new data base with parishioners from all three parishes to allow quicker and
more efficient means of record keeping and communication. We are also working with OLF to have one Bulletin for
all three parishes. SJST and SMNB have the same publisher; OLF has a different publisher, so we need to transition
when contracts are up.
The Coordinating Pastoral Council : Is composed of Fr. Dan as Moderator, Fr. Raposo as Co-Pastor, Deacon Tony
Pimentel, Mr. David Beaulieu, Mrs. Peggy Lenihan as ex officio members. Five parishioners from each of the three
parishes will be appointed members for the first three years of the council. Nominations to the Council will begin
the fourth year for a two year term. They will replace the traditional finance and pastoral councils of each parish. We
will be meeting roughly every 4-6 weeks to develop and implement the strategic plan for the collaborative, monitor
finances, mass attendance, and deal with the vision and life of the Catholic Community of New Bedford North. Our
first meeting will be Monday, September 16th at 6:30PM.
Faith Formation. Fr. Raposo and I, and are pleased to announce that Ms. Cherie Jupin, former coordinator for St.
Joseph-St. Therese will become the Faith Formation Coordinator of our collaborative for Grades 1-4; Ms. Susan
Pacheco from Our Lady of Fatima will become the Faith Formation Coordinator of Grades 5-7. Mr. Walter Pires will
oversee the Confirmation Program and the Confirmation Catechist Team. During the next year, focus groups of par-
ents and catechists will meet to explore curriculum for our collaborative and continue the process of creating a sin-
gle, unified faith formation program for all three parishes – one that gives serious attention to evangelizing and cate-
chizing parents. All Faith Formation classes for the collaborative will take place in All Saints Catholic School (St.
Mary’s Pastoral Center) and the Msgr. Moore Education Center when classes resume in the Fall.
Youth Ministry. We will be reaching out to St. Joseph-St. Therese and Our Lady of Fatima, inviting their young
people to participate in a youth ministry program. We are planning our Sunday evening 7PM as a Youth/Young
adult Mass. ALL are welcome, but we hope to especially reach our teens through prayer and worship by introducing
a modified life teen program. The confirmation program is being planned in such a way that the youth can partici-
pate at the 7PM Mass.
Mass Schedule. The current Mass schedule will remain as is and will be reviewed by the Coordinating Pastoral
Council in November for any tweaks that could be needed. MASS INTENTION BOOK: Will open August 19 for the
remainder of 2019 and the 2020 Mass Intention Book will open September 15th for January-March 2020, ONLY.

***Special Note: Parishioners attending any of the three parishes
within the Catholic Community of New Bedford
North (Our Lady of Fatima, St. Joseph-St. Therese
or St. Mary’s) can be assured that their budget
envelopes will be returned to their parish of
registration to be counted there. This is not the
same if you attend Sunday Mass at another parish
not affiliated with our Collaborative. Other
parishes have been kind enough to return the
envelopes back to us, but be aware some may not
do this, and your envelopes will not be credited to
your parish. If you will be attending a parish
outside the collaborative, please mail or bring your
envelopes to one of the parish offices. Thank you!
STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time In today’s second reading, St. Paul encourages us
not to grow weary or lose heart, but to persevere in
following Jesus. Our willingness to give of our-
selves, even in the face of conflict and division, is
one way to measure our discipleship (Our Sunday
Visitor, ibid., page 30).
IMPORTANT NOTICE *** With the new Mass schedule taking shape as
of June 30, Canon Law states that Masses may
be moved to a different church or time in the
formation of a collaborative. Any party making
an intention to a particular parish must be in-
formed of this and give their consent. In the
event they do not want the Mass to be moved,
the paid stipend will be refunded.
Please call the parish offices if you have sched-
uled a Mass after June 30 and do not want it
moved to a different Mass time or church.
All are welcomed to join us at Our
Lady of Fatima for Rosary and
Chaplet of Divine Mercy every
Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. There is so much
to pray for.
