1. THE BASE SPECIFICATION FOR FOUNDATION WORKS SHALL BE BS8004 'BRITISH STANDARD CODE OF PRACTICE FOR FOUNDATIONS'.

2. A SITE INVESTIGATION REPORT HAS NOT BEEN PROVIDED. THE REPORT IS TO BE ISSUED TO ALL DESIGN PARTIES ONCE AVAILABLE, AND THE ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED OF ANY VARIATIONS OF THE GROUND CONDITIONS FROM THE PRELIMINARY REPORTS.

3. FOUNDATIONS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED ASSUMING A NET ALLOWABLE BEARING PRESSURE OF 100 kN/m2 AND SHALL BEAR ONTO A FORMATION TO BE AGREED WITH THE LOCAL AUTHORITY BEFORE CONSTRUCTION COMMENCES.

FOUNDATION NOTES

1. THE BASE SPECIFICATION FOR STRUCTURAL MASONRY SHALL BE BS5628 'CODE OF PRACTICE FOR USE OF MASONRY'. IN ADDITION, REFERENCE SHALL BE MADE TO THE ARCHITECT'S MASONRY SPECIFICATION AND ASSOCIATED DRAWINGS.

2. ALL WALL TIES, REGARDLESS OF POSITION, SHALL BE STAINLESS STEEL IN ACCORDANCE WITH BS1243 & DD140. FISH TAIL OR OTHER TIES WITH SHARP EDGES SHALL NOT BE USED.

3. ALL LINTELS MUST BEAR ONTO SUPPORTING MASONRY 150 mm MINIMUM AND INSTALLED TO MANUFACTURER'S ADVICE AND GUIDANCE.

4. THE SPACING, LOCATION, AND TYPE OF CAVITY WALL TIES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH BS5628.

5. WALL MOVEMENT JOINTS WITH DEBONDED SLEEVES HAVE BEEN INDICATIVELY SHOWN ON PLAN. FINAL POSITIONS TO BE AGREED WITH ARCHITECT.

6. ALL MOVEMENT JOINTS SHALL BE REFLECTED IN THE APPLIED FINISHES (E.G. PLASTERWORK, RENDERING, AND CERAMIC TILING).

7. MORTAR CLASSIFICATIONS AS DEFINED IN TABLE 1 OF BS5628: PART 1 TO BE USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION ARE AS FOLLOWS:BELOW DPC - MORTAR DESIGNATION CLASS (i)ABOVE DPC - MORTAR DESIGNATION CLASS (iii)

8. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, THE MINIMUM EMBEDMENT OF WALL TIES SHALL BE 50 mm.

9. CAVITY WALL TIES TO BE GENERALLY LOCATED AT 750 mm HORIZONTAL AND 450 mm VERTICAL CENTRES. AROUND OPENINGS TIES TO BE LOCATED AT 225 mm HORIZONTAL AND 225 mm VERTICAL CENTRES AT OR AROUND OPENINGS NO GREATER THAN 225 mm FROM ANY OPENING.

MASONRY NOTES

1. THE BASE SPECIFICATION FOR STRUCTURAL TIMBER ROOFS SHALL BE BS5268 'STRUCTURAL USE OF TIMBER'.

2. ALL TIMBER SHALL BE FACTORY TREATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH BS5268. SUCH TREATMENT SHALL NOT BE DETRIMENTAL TO ANY FIXINGS IN CONTACT WITH TIMBER MEMBERS.

3. EASI-JOIST RAFTERS INCLUDING ALL NECESSARY PERMANENT & TEMPORARY BRACINGS, LOOSE TIMBERS, ETC. SHALL BE DESIGNED, MANUFACTURERD, AND ERECTED BY A SPECIALIST SUB-CONTRACTOR AND DESIGNER TO PROVIDE A COMPLETE ROOF STRUCTURE AS INDICATED UPON THE DRAWINGS. THE DESIGN SHALL ACCOMMODATE THE FOLLOWING ADVISED LOADINGS:-

• DEAD LOAD - 0.80 kN/m2

• LIVE LOAD - 0.60 kN/m2

• WIND LOAD - REFER TO BS6399• SNOW LOAD - REFER TO BS6399

ALL THE LOADS ABOVE ARE CHARACTERISTIC.

4. THE SPECIALIST SUB-CONTRACTOR SHALL INCORPORATE INTO HIS CONTRACT THE DESIGN OF ALL NECESSARY BRACING TO PROVIDE STABILITY TO THE EASI-JOIST ROOF. UNLESS OTHERWISE ADVISED BY THE ENGINEER, THE SPECIALIST SUB-CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME THAT THE ROOF CONSTRUCTION PROVIDES STABILITY TO THE SUPPORTING STRUCTURE. THE SPECIALIST SUB-CONTRACTOR IS THEREFORE RESPONSIBLE FOR DESIGNING AND PROVIDING ALL HORIZONTAL WIND GIRDERS AT EAVES LEVEL, SUFFICIENT TO TRANSMIT WIND LOADS THROUGH THE SUPPORTING STRUCTURE. ANY HORIZONTAL WIND GIRDERS AT EAVES LEVEL INDICATED UPON THE ENGINEER'S DRAWINGS ARE INDICATIVE ONLY.

5. ALL TIMBER FIXINGS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH BS5268.

6. ALL TEMPORARY WORKS, BRACING, PROPPING, ETC. SHALL BE DESIGNED BY THE PRINCIPLE CONTRACTOR OR THEIR SPECIALIST SUB-CONTRACTOR AND SUBMITTED FOR APPROVAL.

8. ALL SOIL CONNECTIONS UNDER BUILDINGS TO BE

100mm DIA LAID AT A MINIMUM GRADIENT OF 1/40 UNLESS

NOTED OTHERWISE AND SHOULD BE RODDABLE FROM

GROUND LEVEL.
