Saint Hilary of Poitiers (January 13)

Hilary was raised as a pagan and converted to

Christianity when he met his god of nature in the

Scriptures of the Church. He became the Bishop of Poitiers (in France) and

battled the fourth century Arian heresy which denied the divinity of Jesus Christ. His

support of the Church teaching led to banishment by Emperor Constantius. He defended Christ’s divinity in his writings and eventually was allowed to return to Poitiers.

He died in 386 and is the patron against snake bites.

Saint of the Week

Can you bring Jesus to others? We are in need of volunteers to take Holy Communion to the homebound. This is a

special ministry of bringing Jesus to those who cannot join us for Mass. If you are willing to do this, please speak with Fr. Samuel or our

coordinator, Ann Phillips (535.9512).

Is there a Catholic you know who is unable to

come to Mass? Please contact Ann Phillips (535.9512) or the parish office so we can arrange

for them to receive Holy Communion.
