St. Luke’s Preschool Fall Newsletter 2013

It has been a beautiful fall here in Barrington and the children at the preschool have delighted in all the sunny days outside. We’ve been watching the trees on the St. Luke’s campus turn vibrant colors, collecting samples of leaves, seeds and pods almost daily. Many of our autumn explorations have included these natural treasures.

The stunning leaves that adorn our classroom windows were done using liquid water color with eye droppers. Thanks to Mrs. Deschenes for cutting all the leaves for our neat “Leafman-like” art pages. Leafman is by Lois Ehlert.

Some of the children tried their hand at making shadow puppets on All Saints Day. We also talked at Circle Time about what makes someone a saint . Thoughts suggested by the children included… -a special real person -they protect people -they save people -they help people a lot -they are disciples of Jesus & follow Him -a saint can be an apostle who wrote a book of the Bible

Our Apple Study is well underway. The children learned about the still life art of Paul Cezanne & painted their own still life paintings of apples. They have also been painting apple trees to create an orchard for the Farm Stand in the Dramatic Play Area.
