From the Pastor’s Desk:

Dear Parishioners, When we began the Advent Season our readings focused on the second coming of the Lord at the end of time. Now on this Fourth Sunday of Advent and the nearness of Christmas, our readings draw us to reflect on His first coming at Bethlehem. We know the role that Mary and her “yes” to God’s will played in the unfolding of God’s plan of salvation. We often overlook the important role that Joseph’s “yes” played in that same plan. While intending to divorce Mary quietly, Joseph the righteous man, receives a message from an angel to take Mary as his wife. He says “yes” and his role of fulfilling the prophecies that the Savior would be born of the house of David is accomplished. At this Christmas I pray that we will all experience a renewed sense of Jesus’ presence in our lives. He came at Bethlehem because Mary and Joseph had the faith and courage to say “yes” to God. He continues to come to us each moment if we too have the faith to say “yes.” I pray with you that our troubled world will come to know and experience the light and peace that the Savior brought into the world that cold winter night 2000 years ago. Together with Fr. Joseph, I wish each of you and your families a truly Blessed Christmas. I thank each of you for your presence in our community of faith and all that you do. As you know our parish's financial stability is due in great part to the annual Christmas collection. I ask you to please be as generous as your means will allow. Thank you! Christmas Blessings to all! Msgr. John T. Ferry, Pastor

Clark Associates Funeral Home has once again gifted our parish with 2020 Catholic Calendars.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! “Ashley” is an 11th grader from a local high school who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl over the summer. She returned to school in September. Ashley’s mother quit her job at a local deli to become the baby’s caretaker so that her daughter could remain in school. With the help of another local organization, Ashley began the childcare subsidy application process. Birthright of Peekskill has been covering the cost of her childcare since the first day of school. Ashley’s mother (the baby’s grandmother) also needed to obtain the required tax i.d. number to become her caretaker. This process has taken longer than expected and we are exhausting our childcare budget. We are told the whole process could take yet another month. If you are able to help, any amount you would be willing to provide would go directly to this family so that Ashley can remain in school. Kindly mail donations to: Birthright of Peekskill, PO Box 468, Peekskill, NY 10566 and let us know it is for childcare or click on the "Donate" button on our website www.birthright.org/peekskill and type "Childcare" in the notes section. Thank you for your generosity!
