Dear Friends,

This year we celebrate Epiphany on its traditional day, as January 6

happens to fall on a Sunday. Falling twelve days after Christmas, this was

regarded as enough time for the magi to travel to Bethlehem from foreign lands.

With their arrival, Jesus is now manifest to the outside world. Just as the star in the

East symbolized the light of Christ shining for the whole world to see, we are called

to manifest Christ in our lives so others can realize the Good News wherever we go!

To help us manifest Christ in our lives and world, today we had an opportunity

to participate in the Consecration to the Holy Family. This consecration entrusted

our families to Jesus, Mary and Saint Joseph. The consecration recalled the gifts of wisdom

and grace, peace and joy, and new life. We asked to be kept strong in faith, persevering in

prayer, diligent in our work and generous to those in need. This powerful prayer is a

wonderful way to begin a new year and at the same time invoke the powerful spirit and

example of the Holy Family. Please pray this prayer often. Share this prayer with others.

May its power prove effective in our lives to build a culture of love and peace in our broken

world.

Next Saturday, January 12th our third graders will celebrate the Sacrament of

Penance for the first time. We look forward to welcoming them into this beautiful encounter

of the Lord’s mercy and peace. Please pray for our young members that they will always

stay close to the Lord and his gift of forgiveness.

We still have reserved copies of the parish history/directory for families who are

entitled to receive it. Any family or individual who had a picture taken for the directory last

fall may pick up their copy in the parish office during regular office hours. If you did not

have a picture taken and would like to purchase a copy of the history/directory, please

contact the office for information and pricing.

Once again we are grateful to the Louis Swift Plunkett Funeral Home for providing

the 2019 parish calendar. Calendars are available at the doors of church while the supply

lasts.

As the magi searched for Christ and found him, so may our days ahead in this new

year be a time of discovering anew each day the presence of Christ in all those we meet.

May you have a happy, holy and healthy New Year filled with abundant blessings that only

the Lord can provide!

Saint Robert Bellarmine, pray for us!

With prayers,

“See what love the Father has bestowed on us, that we may be called

children of God.” -1 John 3:1 At the core of our being is a desire for meaningful connection and authentic relationship. We long to love and be loved, but how often do we just feel lonely?

As we search for ways to escape these feelings of isolation, there comes a small, quiet whisper that pierces through to the depths of our heart: “You are never alone, because you are Mine.”

This summer, over 50,000 Catholic teens across North America will attend one of 24 Steubenville Youth Conferences to encounter the God who calls us His sons and daughters. THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD

Isaiah 60:1-6; Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6; Matthew 2:1-12

The feast of the Epiphany is an important feast in the Church because

it is when Jesus first is made manifest as the savior of all nations. The

magi coming from the East to pay homage to Jesus highlights how the

salvation Christ offers is for all the nations and how it fulfills God’s

promise to Abraham that he would be that Father of all nations.

The Magi were important men who came from the East; they were possibly astrologers and/or royal

counselors. The name first signified Persian/Median priests and later included men with mystic abilities in

general. Gold (a gift fit for a king) signifies royalty; frankincense (a kind of incense used in worship) signifies

worship/divinity; myrrh (a burial ointment) signifies death/points to Christ’s humanity.

What gift can you give Jesus, your King, this week?

Perhaps you can give him “gold” in the sense of accepting him as King in your life by living more according to

his will? Or maybe you can give him more “frankincense” in the sense of dedicating more time for prayer. Or

you might want to offer him more “myrrh” in the sense of making sacrifices to serve others or uniting to him

more in a particular suffering you are experiencing.

We are looking to start a chapter of AFIRE at

St. Robert Bellarmine Parish. AFIRE is a faith-based

movement designed to bring education, healing,

hope, resources, advocacy, and transformational

action to families and communities struggling with

addiction.

Much needs to be done to bring light into the

darkness of the addiction and overdose epidemic

and maybe we can to begin to make small steps.

Please watch for more information and a time and

date for a planning meeting. Your gifts are needed:

maybe you are good at listening, praying, organizing,

counseling, encouraging… whatever you gift is, let us

know if you are interesting in being part of this minis-

try. (Email Joan: [email protected])

Also, you can check out the website:

www.apeopleafire.org and learn the ministry and

about Nina Marie Corona, Founder and Executive

Director of AFIRE.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and

peace in believing so that you may abound in

hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

WOULD YOU LIKE THE BLESSED MOTHER STATUE TO VISIT YOUR HOME? St. Robert's parish has a beautiful little statue of the Blessed Mother of Fatima available. Simply make a request, and the pilgrim statue will be brought to your home for a week or two. Families are encouraged to display the statue prominently and to say the Rosary together. Contact Bernadette Repisky at 267261.4612, [email protected].

Monday Exposition/Divine Mercy Chaplet Come join us at 3:00PM every Monday during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Jesus, speaking to St. Faustina, forcefully speaks to us about the great mercy He has for us. From the diary of St. Faustina; I heard these words in my soul: Say unceasingly the chaplet that I have taught you. Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy. I desire that the whole world know My infinite mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy (Diary, 687). Pamphlets will be available in the chapel to help you along with the prayers that are said using a Rosary. You may keep it for your personal use.

The 2019 Mass Book is completely filled for intentions. The 2020 Mass Book will not open until Spring. Please keep in mind that unannounced Masses are available as well as memorials for sanctuary lamp candles and altar flowers.
