Participant
This is somebody who actually takes part in the sport!
They need to have:
o A keen interest in sport
o Be physically able to take part
Qualities of a good Coach or Team Captain
To be a good Team Captain or Coach:
you need to be able to LEAD you need to be Enthusiastic about you sport you need to be able to Motivate others
Captain – a player that leads a team
A good captain will possess the following qualities:
Highly skilled in their sport Perform well under pressure Role Model to others Organised e.g. organise others during a game Decisive e.g. make decisions on how to arrange
fielders during a game of cricket
Coach – a non player that’s in charge of training a team
A good coach will have the following qualities:
Excellent knowledge of their Sport e.g. to create training ideas and match winning tactics
Coaches are often ex-players who want to stay involved in sport
Improve Performance of individuals and as a team Analyse Performance of Players/Teams Good Communication skills
OFFICIALS e.g. coach, referee, umpire
A good Official will have the following qualities:
Know the Rules Be Observant and Decisive as they often need to
make quick decisions Authoritative Confidence Keep Control of the game Enforce the rules
Volunteer – unpaid role within sport
Give up their free time to do something unpaid. Many sports clubs and initiatives are run by volunteers alone. Volunteers are really important in sport.
