AVID

AVID is a nationally recognized program whose aim is to prepare students for a successful college career. AVID focuses on organization, note taking, and study skills.

Students who successfully complete the AVID program through high school have a documented college attendance rate of over 85%. Stateside Elementary is an AVID pathways school that feeds into several AVID Middle Schools

Maintaining a planning tool, and an organizational tool are required parts of AVID. We will hold our 1st AVID night on August 30th. This night will be focused on what is expected of the organizational tool, and how it is organized. We will build the binder on the 30th together-parent, students, and teachers.

EngradeYou will be able to access your child’s grades online!

Please visit www.engrade.com. If you are unable to access the Internet at home, it is available at the Jacksonville/Richlands Branch libraries and at the Stateside Elementary Media Center.

Lesson Plans• North Carolina Standard Course of Study can be found at

http://www.ncpublicschools.org/curriculum/

• 9-week Curriculum Plans will be posted for Science, Social Studies, and Math on our websites

• It is our intent to also post our A-F Day cycle plans on our website as a courtesy to you. We will also email these plans weekly to parents whose emails we have on file. A few things:• This is not a requirement, but a courtesy. We find that the more you know,

the better we can address your students education.• Lessons planned might not be addressed for a variety of reasons. Anything

from an unscheduled fire drill to meeting the learning needs of the students can cause delays in the plan.

• When in doubt, have your students complete the homework on the plan…at worst they will just be ahead of the game

• These plans are designed for the individual teachers, they will include short hands, lack explanations and might include typos. Please be flexible.
