In 1997, IBM marketing, with its agency Ogilvy &Mather began to use its foundation in ITsolutions and expertise to market itself as aleader of conducting business on the Internetthrough the term "e-business”
E-commerce started in Bangladesh in the late 90s. From 2000 to 2008 the E-commercesector observed slow growth. There were few E-commerce websites but there were nosystem for online transaction which is the first condition for E-commerce. In addition, highcost of Internet and lower penetration meant that few people knew about these sites.According to Bangladesh Bank, payments and transactions by credit cards were nearlyTk11 billion in June 2008; one of the lowest in the world.
