Stenhouse Primary School Newsletter

December 2019 I find it hard to believe that this is our final newsletter of 2019! I am not sure about

you, but it has flown by and I am sure 2020 will be full of excitement too. We would

like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and commitment to helping

us improve our school community. There have been many successes this session and I

know there will be many more to come in 2020.

Not least, Stenhouse Primary will be celebrating it’s 90th birthday next year. We look forward

to planning fantastic events to celebrate this and would welcome any suggestions on how we can

best commemorate this.

We hope you have a lovely holiday when it comes.

With Kind Regards

Laura Monaghan

Flu Vaccinations

The NHS have confirmed that they will be in school on Wednesday 18th December to administer

the Flu nasal spray.

Building Works

Our building works have started and as previously mentioned, there should be little impact on

the day to day life of the school, as most of the work is being done after school. We are

pleased to report, that the children are being really responsible and staying away from the

building compound as much as possible. Please reinforce this. Thanks for your support.

Morning routines

A small reminder that children should be lined up, ready to come into the building each morning.

Whilst it may be tempting to come in with them to help with jackets, bags etc, this can cause a

lot of congestion in corridors and we aim to have your child as independent as possible, as soon

as possible. Taking off their own jackets and bags is one of the first things we want our pupils

to be able to do by themselves. Thank you for your understanding.

Parents; Consultation Survey

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their ideas about using the hall for parents’

consultation meetings. We will look at your comments closely and use them to improve our

Reporting to Parents experiences. The winner of the £10 Asda voucher was a P4 parent! It’s

coming home to you in your child’s bag!

Children In Need BBC Event

As you may know 5 of our choir members formed part of the

national choir for Children in Need. They spent several weekends

rehearsing before spending the day at the BBC in Glasgow. It was

very exciting watching them sing on live television and they did a

tremendous job in representing themselves and the school. A massive thank you to parents for

supporting the experience and to staff who gave up their weekends to attend rehearsals too.

Our school event raised over £300 which was an absolutely fantastic response. Thanks to Miss

Collier and the staff for organising it.

Christmas Fair

An absolutely massive thank you to everyone for supporting our Christmas Fair. We raised a

huge £550 for our Equity fund which will be used to support families, in any way we can, to

reduce the cost of the school day. Thanks to all the staff for planning such lovely craft

activities to sell and to everyone who visited the event. A special mention to Miss Collier who

has organised this so successfully!!!

Christmas Dress Up Day

Just a bit of Fun – Friday 13th December – feel free to wear a Christmas

Jumper/something Wintery/Christmassy to school that day. No donations

needed, it’s just for fun!!!! (no football colours)

Achievements

Jonnie Livingston won Man of the Match in her Murrayfield Juniors Ice Hockey match. He was

also part of the team that came 2nd in the Ayr Bruins JIHC Tournament! Well done!

Edinburgh. Owen was invited to the City Chambers for a reception as part of this celebration!
