SGI, Bulgaria

Our office in Sofia serves as a centre for operating in the Balkans, Eastern Europe and further afield. The office is a fusion of two local practices and Stephen George International. The combining of expertise is seen as a logical progression for the company and of huge benefit to our clients.

The office has experience in many architectural sectors including masterplanning, industrial, residential, retail, refurbishment and interiors. The team has considerable sustainability expertise and offers BREEAM Assessments and consultancy as part of the full architectural package. Our skills include production of marketing material, computer visualisations and graphic design.

ILDG, Russia

In 2015 SGP were invited to collaborate in a multidisciplinary consultancy supporting the global logistics industry. The new group will advise on all aspects of the funding, design and procurement of sustainable large scale distribution buildings for the logistics industry in the international market. Known as the International Logistics Design Group (ILDG) they specialise in masterplanning, design, funding, procurement, engineering, branding and sustainable business, innovation and development in logistics.

ILDG is a joint venture between SGP, KTA and Roseneath and its first project is in Moscow for Russian Developer Radius Group and for the French DIY chain Leroy Merlin.

Michael joined Stephen George + Partners in 1979 as a year out student to complete his professional qualifications. After registering as an architect in 1980, he became an Associate in 1985 and a Partner in 1990. In 2010, Stephen George + Partners became an LLP and he has become its first Managing Partner.

During his time at Stephen George + Partners Michael has pioneered innovation in the design of industrial and distribution buildings, out of town retail space and office design. He was responsible for the introduction of computers into the office in the eighties and data management in the last decade. He is an active member of the AFMG (Architects Financial Management Group).

John MorfeyPartnerLeicester, UK

John graduated from Sheffield University with a distinction in design in 1977. He joined Stephen George + Partners the following year, leaving briefly for a short spell as Team Leader at Dorset County Council.

John has worked on a wide variety of projects, including education, housing, commercial and public buildings, and is responsible for a committed team of architects and technicians. Several of his projects across the sectors have been the result of winning local and national design competitions, and many have gone on to win design awards.

John has a lifelong interest in sustainable architecture. He worked on the EU-sponsored project to design, build and monitor passive solar houses, instigated the practice’s Sustainability Steering Group and delivers an annual lecture on Sustainable Architecture at Loughborough University.

Having worked predominantly in the commercial sector for a number of other UK-based practices including a period in London, James joined Stephen George + Partners in 1998 and established our Solihull office in 2002. He became a Partner in 2010.

James’ experience, which includes the design and delivery of a number of complex industrial, commercial and retail schemes, has led to him developing an expertise in the logistics and distribution sector. His close relationships with clients has also generated new opportunities for the Practice including those overseas.

James chairs our Business Development Group which is key in developing our strategy for growth.

Geoff has 35 years’ experience of commercial developments in the UK and abroad and heads our Leeds office. He is also a Director of Stephen George International and is responsible for our work in the Sultanate of Oman and the Middle East.

His main expertise, within both private and public sectors, is in offices, workspace planning and existing buildings. Geoff is Stephen George + Partners’ key contact with our government clients where he has worked for over 20 years delivering rationalisation and smarter working programmes.

He enjoys working with clients, making presentations and collaborative working and has gained experience of planning enquiries and appeals, appearing as expert witness. He is a confident and knowledgeable communicator and uses these skills for the benefit of clients and their projects.

Chris WicksPartnerLeicester, UK

Chris joined Stephen George + Partners in 1992 after 10 years’ post-qualification experience working on education, housing and office projects in London. Now based in Leicester, he leads a team of architects and technicians. He is an architect with considerable practical experience across most sectors both public and commercial, and all stages of procurement from inception through to completion.

Recently he has been leading the practice’s Building Information Modelling implementation programme and has now established the office’s “Level 2” capability in advance of the government’s 2016 deadline for public sector projects.

Chris prides himself on his ability to get the best from his colleagues by playing to their strengths and making client satisfaction the key focus of their activities.

Ian YallopPartnerLeicester, UK

Ian joined Stephen George + Partners in 1993 and became a Partner in 2004. Ian is responsible for a team of architects and technicians in our Leicester office.

Whilst experienced in most sectors, Ian is primarily responsible for our commercial and masterplanning projects. Ian’s team have considerable experience in designing and delivering complex schemes ranging from small office buildings to large regional business parks and UK headquarters buildings. A large number of these schemes have involved complex brownfield sites with onerous physical, ecological and phasing constraints.

Developing innovative, deliverable strategies is a key element of Ian’s work, along with the co-ordination of the wider design team to ensure that projects meet the client’s budgetary and design aspirations, which is one of Ian’s key skills.

Marcus joined Stephen George + Partners in 1997 as an architectural assistant and has progressed through the business becoming a Partner in 2016.

Marcus is an experienced architect who leads a dedicated team of architects and technologists delivering numerous complex schemes with challenging physical, ecological and legal constraints. Marcus has over twenty years’ experience working in most commercial sectors with particular expertise in logistics and masterplanning. More recently, Marcus has been working internationally designing and masterplanning major logistics sites in Russia.

Marcus co-manages the Stephen George + Partners Health & Safety steering group and is also responsible for managing the SGP Building Information Modelling implementation strategy.

Alexander DawDirectorSofia, Bulgaria

Alexander has over 20 years’ experience in the industry across most sectors including commercial, retail and residential design. He has been operating internationally since 2003 with the majority of that experience in Central Eastern Europe (CEE).

In 2009 he established our Sofia office and he now manages a team of around 40 architects, technicians and graphic designers.

Alex has succeeded in building up a dependable client base and one of the region’s largest international offices. He is currently focused on securing business expansion opportunities locally and in the CEE region.
