    Title : Asifs Party

    School was over. Asifs and his

    best friend Davif walked slowly

    down the street, pertending to

    robots. They held their arms stiff

    and straight in fornt of them and

    moved their legs jerkily, up and

    down, up and down.

    Next week said Asif in his best

    robots voice, it is Eid. We are

    going to have a party. You can

    come if you want.

    A party? said David excitedly,

    forgetting all about being a robot

    now. Id love to come. But whats

    Eid? Ive never heard of party for

    Eid before.

    Asifs laughed forgetting to be

    robot too. Eid is Muslim festival,

    he said. A little bit like Chirstmas,

    I suppose. Its a special time,when

    everyone visits their family and

    friends and gives money and

    presents, and wears their new

    clothes.

    An Eid partu. Said David. What

    a good idea! What day will it be?

    Saturday, said Asif. Ask your

    mum if you can come round at

    four oclock.

    Im going to ask her now,said

    David. Im sure shell say yes.

    See you tomorrow. And with a

    wave of hi s hand ran off excitedly

    down the street to tell his mum.

    Asif woke up early on the day of

    the paty. He got dressed and had

    his breakfast while he waited for

    everyone else to wake up too.

    At ten pclock, mum popped

    her head round the living room

    door. Im getting ready for our Eid

    party,she said. Would anyone

    like to help me make some

    samosas?

    Not me.said Asifs bog brother

    Imran. Im to busy cleaning my

    shoes. I want to look smart for the

    party.Not me,said dad. Im too

    busy writing Eid cards. I want to

    give them out at the party.

    I will,said Asif, and he did. He

    chopped up the onions and the

    papper. He diced the potatoes and

    poured out the peas. He stirred

    them round and round in the pan

    with mums special spices.

    Mum mixed some flour and water

    to make a sorf dought. She made

    it into little balls and rolled them

    out into circle. Then she cut the

    circle in half and made a cone

    shape.

    When the vegetable were ready,

    Asif spooned some into each

    cone. Mum stuck yhe edge og the

    cone together with water. Then

    she fried them in hot oil until they

    were crispy and golden brown.

    The samosas smelt

    delicious.Thanks you Asif,saidmum. thats a job well done,

    At twelve oclock,mum popped her

    head round the living room door.

    Im getting ready for our Eid

    pakoras?Not me,said Asifs big

    sister Sofina.

    Im too busy waiting for my medhi

    to dry. I want it to look beautiful for

    the party. Not me,said Asifs big

    brother Imran.Im too busy ironing

    my shirt. I want to look smart for

    the party.

    Not me,said dad.Im too busy

    blowing up ballons. I want to hang

    them up for the party.

    I will,saod Asif and he did. Hesliced the potato and cut up the

    cauliflower.He mixed some flour

    with salt and spices. He added

    some water and mixed it again to

    make a creamy, yellow batter.

    Mum dipped the vegetables in the

    batter abd fried them in bit oil untilthey were cispy and golden brown.

    The pokaras smelt delicious.

    Thanks you, Asif,said mum.

    Thats a job well done.

    At two oc;ock mum popper her

    head round the living room door.

    Im getting resdy for our Eid

    party,she said. Would anyone

    like to help me make some

    chapitas? Not me,said Asifs big

    sister Sofina. Ill busy washing

    the medhi off my hands. I want

    them to look beautiful for theparty.

    Not me,said Asifs big broter

    Imran. Im too busy combing my

    hair.I want look smart for the

    party.

    Not me,said dad. Ive got to go

    to the station to get Aunty Azra

    and Uncle Ahmad. I want them to

    be here for the party.

    I will,said Asif and he did. He

    mixed some flour and water to

    make a dough. He kneaded the

    dough with his knuckles. He

    shaped the dough into little round

    balls and patted them from hand

    to hand until they were flat. He

    rolled them out inti circle.

    Mum headted the chapatti pan on

    the cooker. She put the chapattis

    in one by one. She returned them

    over to cook the other side.

    The chapattis began to puff up.

    They smelt delicious. Thanks you

    Asif, thats a good job, said mum.

    At 4 oclock, Mum popped her

    head living room door. The guest

    were just arriving. She said hello

    to Aunty Azra and Uncle Ahmad.

    She waved to Mr. and Mrs, Brown

    from across the road.

    She smiled as Asif opened the

    door and his friend David come

    jumping in excitedly. He gave Asif

    a present and then Asif took him

    around the room meet everyone.

    Lastly, mum brought out last plate

    for all. This is for you.said mum

    its for all ypur help with our Eid

    party today.

    Asif looked at the plate and likedhis lips. It was full of his fovourite

    sweet, delicious coconut baffi.

    Thanks you Mum, I love you.

    and Mum gived the kiss to Asif.
