We have held back from doing the same for some time, acknowledging that this can be disruptive for families, however the pressure to meet our professional obligations has increased significantly. Modern teaching practice requires a significantly higher level of planning and assessment than traditional teaching models, and there are certainly increasingly high expectations and levels of accountability for all teaching professionals.

Therefore students have a later start time on Thursday mornings. Their classes will commence at 9.20 a.m., 40 minutes later than the usual 8.40 a.m. start time on other days of the week.

This will provide some additional structured school-wide professional learning time for teaching staff. All teachers will be required to attend school-based professional learning sessions on Thursday mornings, commencing at 8.25 a.m. through to 9.15 a.m. when regular classes commence.

ORGANISATION AND COMMUNICATION

Green Bay High School has approximately 1350 students, 100 teachers and over 25 support staff. We regard good communication as being essential for our school to run efficiently and effectively.

The Principal and Senior Management Team: Mrs Hutchinson is the Principal of Green Bay High School with overall responsibility for everything that happens in our school. The Role of the Dean: There are six deans at Green Bay High School. For five of these, each is responsible for the pastoral care, support, academic counselling, guidance and behaviour management of the students in their level cohort. The deans travel with their year group from year 9, so are an integral part of the life of a student at our school. Each dean manages a group of form tutors, who follow their form classes through until at least the end of Year 12. The sixth dean is the Transition dean. This is a specialised position which ensures the successful transition of the Year 9 cohort each year, as well as the Year 10-13 students moving to Green Bay High School during the school year. The deans are part of the pastoral care and student support team at school, and work with student services and the guidance staff (including careers and health professionals) to provide support for our students. Relationships matter at Green Bay High School, and all deans are trained restorative practice facilitators. The principles of restorative practice underpin our student management system, and are key tools to the partnership we encourage between our school and the families of our students.

The Form Tutor: All students belong to a horizontal form class group. Punctuality and attendance at form class is compulsory because it is at this time that:

School attendance is formally recorded. Absence notes and leave applications are attended to. Vital school communications take place such as daily notice delivery,

meeting organization, sport and extra curricular event organization, information about subject choices; exam and qualifications; careers and tertiary training etc.

Monitoring of School Uniform and Dress Code.

House System: All form classes belong to one of five houses: Piha, Karekare, Whatipu, Muriwai or Anawhata. Elected Year 13 leaders lead the houses, and are responsible for helping organise activities and events. Students and form classes can gain points for their houses through a range of sporting events and activities.

Extra Support and Communication: The Deans and Deans’ Assistant, Guidance and Careers Counsellors, office staff, subject teachers, and senior students involved in Peer Support, PSSP, Student Council and House leadership are all valuable sources of information, advice and guidance if you need it. The Guidance Counsellors’ offices are situated at the student reception end of the administration block.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

ABSENCES: If a student is absent from school for reasons of ill health, family emergencies or bereavement, a signed and dated note from the parent/guardian must be brought with the student on their return to school explaining the absence. In some situations, a medical certificate will also be required.

A parent/guardian may also use the attendance hot line (extension 217) to notify the school of an absence, at which stage a signed and dated note from the parent/guardian is not required.

Green Bay High School uses a daily text message and email system to parents and caregivers informing them of unexplained non-attendance.

ACADEMIC COUNSELLING: All of our students set two academic and one engagement target at the beginning of the school year. These are communicated to parents on school reports.

Academic counselling is an ongoing process including the setting of targets and related actions, reflection of their progress, and making connection with subject choices and pathways.

The deans are part of the wider academic counselling team in the school, which includes the SMT and relevant careers staff.

Junior Year 9 and 10 students set two academic targets based on test results from the beginning of the year (i.e. school/subject PAT, asTTle). They also set an engagement target, which should support the achievement of their academic targets.

Senior Year 11, 12 and 13 students set their targets to run closely with their aims with regard to achievement in NCEA assessment and the engagement that will allow them to reach these achievement goals. Recognition of the wider social education aspect is also important in setting an engagement target separate from specific NCEA goals.

The deans work closely with form teachers to insure that SMART targets are set for each student, and recorded correctly on the school database.

ACCOUNTS and PAYMENTS: Students may only pay accounts and payments before school, at morning interval or lunchtime, or after school. EFTPOS is available at school. Families are able to set up automatic payments for fees and course costs. This can be done by contacting the Accounts Officer, Debbie Tonkin, on 817-8173 ext 210.

Ensuring outstanding fees are paid is part of the clearance process, and failure to complete clearance may well inhibit a student’s choice of programme the following year.

If there is a concern that a student may have financial issues please refer to Deputy Principal – Student Services.

ALCOHOL and DRUGS: If a students is found in possession of alcohol at school, and/or has consumed alcohol while under school supervision (this includes before or directly after school) they are likely to be stood down from school for reflection time, and appropriate support will be offered as part of the restorative meeting on their return to school.

Where there is clearly a major concern around alcohol abuse, the school will involve outside interventions such as CADS (Community Alcohol and Drug Service). The DP Students Services has details of this service.

ASSEMBLIES: Levels assemblies are held every two weeks in the school auditorium. The schedule for levels assemblies is as follows: Monday Year 13 Tuesday Year 12 Wednesday Year 11 Thursday Year 10 Friday Year 9 These assemblies are led by the level dean and vary from housekeeping and administrative tasks to specific issues. Occasionally extra ordinary levels assemblies will also be held. House assemblies are held three times per term. Full school assemblies are held at the end of each term with the following themes: Term 1 Deans assembly of excellence Term 2 Curriculum assembly of excellence Term 3 Sports assembly of excellence Term 4 Overall assembly of excellence The deans have key organisation and presentation roles in all assemblies except the Sports Assembly.

ATTENDANCE: The aim of the attendance system is for accuracy, consistency and ‘detection’. It should provide us with detailed knowledge of student attendance and movement.

Monitoring attendance is the responsibility of form tutors, the level Dean, the Attendance Officer (Julie Southey), and Deputy Principal-Student Services (Sandy Begg). Parents and caregivers are encouraged to communicate intended absence by calling 817-8173 ext 217.

The school operates a text messaging system to parents and caregivers for students who are absent without reason. This text message is usually sent by the end of form period.

Students who are absent from school are to bring a note to their form tutor to explain the absence on the day of their return. This is to be signed by the parent/caregiver.

If a student is discovered to be truant from school, the dean will discuss this matter with the student and decide on an appropriate consequence e.g. a detention to catch up on missed work. The dean may also contact home.

LATES:

1. If a student arrives late to school, that is after Period 1 begins at 8.40am, they must report to student reception, to sign in and to have their lateness recorded. A member of the Senior Management Team issues the Late Slips, and students without legitimate reason for arriving to school late will be issued with a Dean’s detention, which run in D4 at morning interval.

2. Students will receive a LATE SLIP to show the teacher whose class they enter late. The Deans and Senior Management Team will manage students who persistently arrive after 8.40am, and/or do not have a valid reason for arriving late to school. This may include detentions and/or contact with home.

3. If a student arrives late to any class, including form class, without a note of explanation, they are expected to make the time up. Ongoing issues of lateness (more than twice a week) will be reported to the level dean.

TRUANCY CONCERNS: The Dean will initiate contact with home (phone, email, letter when there are truancy or ongoing attendance concerns. It may be necessary to use the services of the local truancy service if this continues to be an issue. The local truancy services have the power to prosecute families for non attendance

BOARD OF TRUSTEES STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE: Green Bay High School has a student representative on the Board of Trustees. This student is expected to attend BOT meetings in order to ensure that the student voice is heard. During Term 3, interested students will be nominated. This is followed by an election campaign. The returning Officer is the Principal’s PA.

BUSES: All students who travel to and from school on a school-contracted bus must have completed and signed (along with parent/caregiver) the bus agreement when enrolling. Any student who makes the journey unsafe for any other student may forfeit their right to travel on the bus.

The school office has information on bus routes and costs.

CAREERS CENTRE: Green Bay High School offers a full and extensive careers service. The Careers Centre is situated in the E Block courtyard. It is open from 9am – 3.15pm daily, and all students are invited to make an appointment with one of the careers staff. CARS and CARPARKING: The school car park is for staff and visitor parking only. Students are required to park their vehicles on Godley Rd, Stottholm Road or Firle Place only.

CELLPHONES and ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Cellphones or any other electronic devices may be used in class if deemed appropriate by the classroom teacher. Misuse or in defiance of teacher request, these items will be confiscated. A letter will be sent home to parents/guardians informing them, and the item will only be returned to a parent or guardian. The school will not accept responsibility for the theft or loss of such items. Misuse of cell phones to convey abusive or malicious messages are a serious discipline issue and may result in stand down procedures.

CLEARANCE: All students are required to complete the clearance process at the end of the school year. This involves signing out of each of their classes, ensuring the return of school property (eg library books, sports uniforms etc), and the payment of ALL outstanding fees. CONTACT and COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS and CAREGIVERS: Any changes to address or phone numbers (home, work or emergency contacts) need to be communicated to the school as soon as possible. This information should be given to student services on ex 253 or 234, or to the Deans’ Assistant, Julie Southey on extension 217. Phone calls and emails are our main forms of communication, however letters are often sent to reinforce and formalise communications. Parents are kept informed about their child (positive and negative) in a prompt and professional manner.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Often as a consequence of a serious behaviour issue (particularly where the school has been physically damaged) students will be required to complete a period of community service. This usually involves working with the caretaking/ground staff, and will always involve students giving up their own time (e.g. holidays, after school) to complete.

COMPUTER/INTERNET USE: All students sign an internet/computer agreement at enrolment. Students who fail to abide by the contract, will have their school computer account blocked for an agreed period of time.

COURSE CONFIRMATION: All Year 12 and 13 students must attend course confirmation in Week 0 of the school year. Their programmes must be confirmed by each head of department, and the dean. Students must have completed the clearance process from the previous year BEFORE they can confirm their course of study for the following year. Students who fail to attend course confirmation may find their choices of subjects restricted.

COURSE SELECTION (for following year): YEAR 9: Year 9 students are issued with a course selection booklet, which provides information and course descriptions of the various option subjects available in Year 10. All Year 9 students will study two option subjects in the first half of the year, and two in the second half of the year. Some option subjects (Japanese, Spanish, German, Maori and Music) are year long programmes. Depending on their choices, Y10 students over the course of the year will study either 2, 3 or 4 option subjects. YEAR 10-12: Year 10-12 students are issued with a senior course booklet, which provides information, descriptors and pre requisites for the subjects available in the senior school. Course selection for students entering Year 11 (NCEA Level 1), is more prescribed with three compulsory subjects (English, Mathematics and Science), and three open entry (theoretically) subjects. Guidance is very important at this level to ensure students choose courses, which will provide pathways for further study. English, Mathematics and Science programmes will be determined for each student by the HODs of those departments. Students entering Year 12 and Year 13 have experience of the requirements of NCEA. Subjects and courses at Level 2 and 3 have more stringent entry requirements. Students and their families are encouraged to make use of our Careers Department at course selection time, as well as communicating with the level dean and form tutor.

DAILY NOTICES: Students must have written permission (Dean or Senior Management) to write a daily notice. The notice needs to be handed into the main office by 2pm for inclusion the next day.

DETENTIONS: There is a range of detentions for various misdemeanours. Late Detentions are held in D4 each morning interval for students who arrive late for school without a legitimate reason. Deans’ Detentions are held in D5 form 3.15pm until 4.15pm on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. These occur every two weeks. A letter will go home informing parents, and the level dean will also phone home. In some circumstances students may be required to attend detentions on Saturdays and during the school holidays. Students are given notice about detentions, and are expected to complete when directed. Only the Deans or SMT can place students on detention.

DRUG DETECTION: Association with, use or possession of illicit drugs at school is regarded as a serious discipline mater. The school has a number of initiatives aimed at addressing these issues. These include random searches by a trained drug detection dog of the school premises from time to time. Such searches are carried out under the supervision of the senior managers using a private agency. The school also offers the KICK IT programme as an alternative to the Board of Trustees’ Disciplinary committee, for students who have been caught in possession or use of illicit drugs. The programme is a partnership between the school, family and the local police. It involves random drug testing over a specified period, along with an education and counselling programme. If the school believes that a student may be in possession of illicit drugs or drugs paraphernalia, they may ask to search the student’s bags and clothing. EQUIPMENT AND STATIONERY: Green Bay High School has teamed up with OfficeMax to have stationery requirements for each class/year loaded on our school website http://www.greenbayhigh.school.nz/stationery/ for you to view, download or place an order. All students must have an appropriate sized and style of school bag. Year 9 and 10 students are recommended to have a Chromebook or other similar device.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: There is a wide range of sports activities offered by school, and managed by the Sports Coordinator (office situated near the gym). These include: athletics, badminton, basketball, cheerleading, cricket, curling, cycling, equestrian, golf, gymnastics, hockey, ice hockey, netball, orienteering, rugby, rugby league, skiing, soccer, snowboarding, softball, squash, surfing, swimming, tennis, touch rugby, volleyball and water polo. EMERGENCY RESPONSE: All classrooms have emergency response and procedure instructions on the wall. Students are expected to quickly and effectively follow the instructions issued by their teachers.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT: If students require assistance for purchasing stationery and equipment, and/or meeting course requirements, they are welcome to discuss the issue with the Deputy Principal – Students Services. We believe that no student attending Green Bay High School should be restricted in their ability to succeed or make the most of opportunities because of financial circumstances beyond their control.

FORM PERIOD: Form period occurs at 10.45am until 11.05am – except Thursdays. All students are expected to arrive to this class on time. All students belong to a form class. In Year 9 and 10, form classes are also core subject classes. Form class time is a structured part of the school day and students will complete a range of activities during that time. These include: school attendance and absence follow up, ensuring student details on school data base are up-to-date, communication of vital school messages (daily notices, sports message, meeting notices etc), academic counselling and target setting, monitoring and follow up of school uniform and dress code. Every second week, on a scheduled day, the form class will attend a levels assembly. House Assemblies area also held during this time. Most students remain in the same form class with the same form teacher from Year 9 until the end of Year 12.

GIFTED AND TALENTED PROGRAMME: Students who may be suitable for the gifted and talented programme should be referred to Tim Nicholson in the first instance.

GUIDANCE COUNSELLING: The guidance counsellors at Green Bay High School provide support and counselling to students. This can be as individuals or in groups with specific needs. Students wanting to see a counsellor must make an appointment through student reception.

HEALTH CENTRE: If students are feeling unwell, they need to report to their teacher, and ask permission to attend the health centre. The school office will ring home if required to contact parent or guardian. Students are requested not to ring parents themselves. The school does not:

1. Give out medication to students. 2. Renew dressings to injuries, or treat ‘old’ injuries which have happened at

home or out of school. 3. Provide day care for students who should have not come to school in the

first place.

If students have been involved in an accident at school, it must be reported to the office as soon as possible. HOMEWORK: Homework is a link between school and home. It helps develop sound study habits and to raise student achievement. Homework may involve a wide range of learning activities such as working on an assignment, completion of set work from school lessons, and revising for a test. All senior students have a study wall planner, which allows them to plan their use of time.

HOMEWORK CENTRE: The Homework Centre operates in the school library on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3.15pm until 4.30pm. Staff from different subject areas are available to assist students, and there will always be a member of the Mathematics and English departments present.

HOUSES: All students belong to one of five houses for the duration of their time at Green Bay High School. The houses are named after local West Coast beaches. They are: ANAWHATA (black) KAREKARE (yellow) MURIWAI (blue) PIHA (green) WHATIPU (red). Students can earn points for their house in a variety of events and activities through the year.

IDENTITY CARDS: Every student should have an ID card, and should carry it to school. This is also a library card. Students must have their ID card in order to borrow school library books. It will also provide travel and other discount opportunities. Students can load money onto their ID cards via the monitor box in the library, and use the card for photocopying and printing. Senior students are required to display their ID cards during internal and external examinations. ID cards cost $5.00 for the first six weeks of the school year, and then cost $10.00 after that.

INTERNET USE: All students must agree to comply with the school computer and internet policy during enrolling, before they use any computer at school. A student who fails to keep to the agreement may lose the right to use a computer and may incur disciplinary action and cost of repair. LATE SYSTEM: Students late to school must report to student services to obtain a late slip. These are issued by members of the senior management team. Students will not be admitted to class without a late slip or a note from a staff member. The school expects to receive some communication from parents and caregivers explaining the lateness (note, phone call, email). Unjustified lateness to school will result in a ‘late’ detention at morning interval. Recurring unjustified lateness is regarded seriously, and will involve contact with home. Students who arrive late to class during the day are recorded as late, and will be expected to make up any time lost. LEAVE APPLICATIONS: Students who wish to be absent from school for a period time for other than medical purposes (eg family holiday, representative sports event) need to apply for leave. Leave forms can be obtained from the level Dean. Families need to be mindful that education and school commitments must be a priority during the school term. Applications must be made in writing with specific details and dates given. LEAVERS: Students who are intending on leaving Green Bay High School to attend another school; for employment, or to move into further training must complete a leaving form. Leaving forms are only issued by either the Deputy Principal – Student Services, or the Level Dean, and must be signed by the parent/caregiver before they are actioned.

LEAVING THE SCHOOL GROUNDS: Students in Year 9 to 12 are not allowed to leave the school grounds without permission. This includes morning interval and lunchtime. Permission to leave will only be given if there is a prior request from a parent or caregiver (note, phone call, email), or the student has written evidence of a medical or dental appointment. Students must sign in and out at Student Services. Students without written permission to leave the school grounds must see the Deputy Principal (Student Services). Year 13 students may leave the school grounds during morning interval, lunchtime or non-instructional periods. They must sign in, and out, in the Leave book situated at Student Services. On Wednesday afternoons, Year 11, 12 and 13 students finish school at 1.30pm. Students are expected to either leave the school grounds at 1.30pm unless required to remain at school for a meeting, catch-up or peer tutoring.

LIBRARY: The library is open from 9.00am, and at interval and lunchtime for student use.

LOST OR DAMAGED PROPERTY: Students should report any damage or loss of personal property to the Dean, and to Student Services. Details of the loss or damage will be collected, and students will be notified if the property has been found. If buildings or school property is damaged, this must be reported to student services. The school cannot and does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to student property.

MEDICAL INFORMATION/CONTACT DETAILS UPDATE: It is essential that the school database is accurate and up-to-date with contact, emergency details, and any changes to student medical files. Changes and alterations should be given to form teachers as soon as possible.

NEWSLETTER – emailed home each week: Communication is important to us. Students and staff are busy achieving some amazing things at Green Bay High School and we really want everyone to hear all our good news and be up to date with important information. Our school’s website and weekly e-newsletter, is our way of providing important news and events to our community. Parents/caregivers and students receive our newsletters via email, using the email address provided upon enrolment. Upcoming events are also advertised on the electronic signage board, situated outside the school’s main entrance.

NCEA: Issues and concerns around NCEA should be referred to John Allpress (Deputy Principal).

LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: There are student leadership opportunities for all students, but the formalised Student Leadership positions are highly sought after by Year 13 students. Students who wish to be considered must go through a selection process involving nomination, staff feedback (based on attendance, academic success, contribution to school etc) and interviews. Successful applicants are given specific roles in areas of sport, community, student support, and culture. They will work with staff in fundraising, peer tutoring, assembly and event organization, sport events, cultural activities, public speaking and representation, and assisting Year 9 form classes.

PB4L – Positive Behaviour for Learning: Green Bay High School’s Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) strategies, are an initiative which strengthens and develops a social culture that supports learning and positive behaviour. Good Behaviour Tags are used as a reward system, where students can exchange their GBTs for gifts at the PB4L shop.

PHOTOCOPYING: Student ID cards can be used to pay for photocopying and printing of student work. The cards can be ‘loaded with credit’ by the library staff. See IDENTITY cards.

PRAISE POSTCARDS: These postcards are awarded to students for worthy achievements. These can be academic, attendance, social, sporting, cultural, good citizenship etc.

SAFE SCHOOL FOR ALL: Every classroom and office at Green Bay High School has this poster informing you how to deal with these issues, and a list of people you can talk to. We do not tolerate harassment or bullying in this school, and the best way to deal with either issue is to tell someone.

If you are concerned about the way you or another person is being treated by others at school we would like to know about it. This includes: teasing, bullying, harassment, physical or verbal insults, or any form of behaviour that makes you or others feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

If you have these or other issues you need help with, please talk to: your form teacher, your dean, a school counsellor or youth worker, the school nurse or doctor, a classroom teacher, a student leader, or any member of the school community you feel comfortable with.

Our Guidance Counsellor is Cameron Dickson. He also has a group of other support people who work with him. These include Renda Warner and Melissa Daly, who are our Youth Workers. SCHOOL BALL: The school ball is held annually at an outside venue for Year 12 and 13 students at Green Bay High School. Year 11 students may only attend if they are the partners of a Year 12 or Year 13 student. No other students (ie Year 9 or 10) may attend the school ball. Any student wishing to bring an outside partner must have this signed off by DP Student Services. This is usually an interview with the student and their partner. The school ball is organised by a committee of Year 13 students under the guidance of Deputy Principal - Student Services, Sandy Begg.

SCHOOL ZONE: Green Bay High School has a school zone, and students must be living with their primary caregiver within the zone to be eligible for enrolment. Details regarding the school zone is found on our website and from the main administration. SECURITY CAMERAS: These operate in various parts of the school where surveillance is deemed necessary for safety and security reasons. SMOKE FREE POLICY: It is illegal to smoke on the school grounds. Students are not allowed to bring cigarettes, tobacco, matches or lighters to school. Parents will be informed if students are caught smoking or in possession of cigarettes, tobacco matches or lighters. These items will not be returned if confiscated. Current law restricts the sale of cigarettes to those eighteen years and under.

SPECIAL PASSES: In extreme circumstances the school may issue a special pass to a student for a period of time. These passes are only issued after discussion with the dean and/or DP Student Services. Each one has specific criteria (late pass, leave class pass, uniform pass) and is issued with the school’s discretion.

STUDENT SERVICES: The student services offices; health centre, deans’ and guidance offices are situated at back of the administration block. You must report to student services if you are late to school, have an inquiry about a detention or an absence, are unwell, need to visit the accounts office, or if you wish to make an appointment to see your dean or the school Guidance Counsellor. Students are not to use the main reception entrance at the front of the administration building unless specifically requested to do so.

TUCKSHOP: The tuckshop is located between the Administration block and D block. It is open daily at morning interval and lunchtime. A range of hot and cold foods and drinks can be purchased.

UNIFORM SHOP: The shop is located at the tuck shop end of D block. The normal hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8.20am - 9.20am. The shop also has extended hours at the beginning and end of the school year. All uniform information is published on our school website.

GROOMING AND PRESENTATION RELATED TO THE SCHOOL UNIFORM AND DRESS CODE: At Green Bay High School all students, except Year 13, wear the school uniform. This encourages a sense of identity with the school, and provides a common standard of grooming on which to build positive attitudes to neatness and cleanliness. It also provides a measure of security by identifying nonstudents on the school property. GENERAL:

1. Students must abide by the uniform/dress code regulations as agreed at enrolment. Uniform and dress code standards apply when travelling to and from school or on official off-campus activities.

2. Generally permission will not be given to wear non-regulation items. However, in some limited circumstances this will be considered by the Deputy Principal – Student Services. Such requests must be made in writing by a parent or guardian, and will only apply for a specified time.

3. Any student who is wearing an incorrect or inappropriate item of clothing is required to report to one of the deputy principals before school, or to the Dean on Duty at the beginning of period 1 so that the matter can be remedied before classes for the day. Students will be expected to remove non-uniform items, and will have them replaced for the day by school owned items. These items are to be returned to student reception at 3.15pm. School-wide consequences apply when this procedure is not followed.

4. On school mufti-days, the Year 13 dress code applies to all students.

GROOMING FOR STUDENTS IN UNIFORM: Year 9-12 The uniform should be neat, clean, tidy, smart and worn as designed. Our uniform has a wide range of items to choose from so all students should be able to find a suitable combination.

1. Shoes must be plain black school shoes (leather, flat, with laces). 2. Extreme hairstyles and/or artificial colouring are unacceptable. Hair

accessories (hair bands/ties etc) must be navy blue or black in colour only.

3. Male students are required to be clean-shaven. 4. Jewellery should be minimal. (A maximum of two small studs or sleeper

earrings per ear, no visible necklace(s), and no other facial jewellery, this includes the tongue).

5. Make-up is permitted, but should be minimal and discreet. Nail polish must be natural or very light pink.

6. Jackets and jerseys must be only the regulation design and pattern. School sports team jackets are only to be worn for sports events.

7. Garments worn under the school uniform may only be visible at the neck and may only be white (ie no coloured T shirts as undergarments).

8. School caps, beanies and scarves can be worn as part of the uniform, and purchased from the school uniform shop. Caps or beanies may not be worn inside. No other caps, beanies or scarves may be worn.

GROOMING FOR YEAR 13 STUDENTS: While Year 13 students wear mufti, they have an obligation to meet a grooming and presentation standard which is not less than that expected for other students.

1. The choice of clothing for mufti must be appropriate for a co-education school and worn with regard to safety especially in the laboratories, PE and workshop areas. This includes skirts or shorts of a suitable length, and no ‘spaghetti’ straps or halter neck tops.

2. Students must select clothing, which is neat, tidy, not worn out or dirty. It must have no objectionable or offensive messages or pictures.

3. Students will not wear bare feet or jandals. In the workshop and laboratory areas students must wear covered shoes.

4. Extreme hairstyles and/or artificial colouring are unacceptable. 5. Jewellery should be minimal. (A maximum of two small studs or sleeper

earrings per ear, no visible necklace(s), and no other facial jewellery, this includes the tongue).
