Narrative Report Supreme Student Government Election of Officers for Academic Year 2011-2012 Activities TSHS, Taguig Science High School, formerly known as a Science Special class is located at C.P. Tiñga Sports Complex, Hagonoy, Taguig City. It is a public specialized secondary science school in the Philippines. It aims to develop students into well-equipped leaders who can take their place responsibly in service of the community Last January 31 to February 25, the activities for the SSG Election of Officers took place. A number of 687 students participated in this event. There were 3 participating parties (“One Way”, “WAPAC” and “L4C”) and each had 10 officers aiming to be in the position they desired. The screening for the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates was held last January 31 at IV-Einstein’s room. The screening involved interrogation of the selected students of IV- Einstein and other SSG Officers to the candidates. Its mission is to test the determination and will of the candidates in pursuing their goal of becoming the leaders of the students in TSHS. After the screening, the filing of the Certificates of Candidacy (COC) took place on February 2 until February 4. The candidates filed their COC according to their respective party. During the last day of the filing of COCs of all the candidates, the SSG Adviser, Ms. Ana Rose Joson, called a meeting for all the candidates. In this meeting, the responsibility, requirements, activities and consequences of being a SSG Officer were discussed. February 11, a week later after the filing of COCs, the official list of candidates for SSG Election of Officers A.Y. 2011-2012 was publicly announced to the students. The candidates in each party were called. They were introduced to the students with brief information. The Campaign Period was then started on February 14 until February 21. Supreme Student Government Election of Officers for Academic Year

2011-2012 Activities

TSHS, Taguig Science High School, formerly known as a Science Special class is located at C.P. Tiñga Sports Complex, Hagonoy, Taguig City. It is a public specialized secondary science school in the Philippines. It aims to develop students into well-equipped leaders who can take their place responsibly in service of the community

Last January 31 to February 25, the activities for the SSG Election of Officers took place. A number of 687 students participated in this event. There were 3 participating parties (“One Way”, “WAPAC” and “L4C”) and each had 10 officers aiming to be in the position they desired.

The Campaign Period was then started on February 14 until February 21. The candidates were given only limited time to have their campaign. Each party independently planned their campaign strategies and went room-to-room to introduce their selves and persuade the students to support and vote them.

One Way Party

L4C PartyA Campus-wide Presidential and Vice-Presidential Debate or “Miting de Avance” was held on

February 22 after the flag ceremony where each party showed their talents and re-introduced their selves. The first party was WAPAC. They showed their powerful and sometimes funny dance movements. And then they introduced their selves and answered questions thrown by the students. The second party was the One Way. They performed a MV-like presentation that made the students happy and awake. After their performance, they introduce their selves and also answered some questions. The last party was the L4C. They showed their talents in singing and especially dancing, which caught the attention of the students. They also answered questions given by the students in different level.

After their brief introductions, the presidents and vice-presidents of each party were given a chance to state their goal, reason/s why they should win and some of their future projects. Then the students were allowed to ask questions to the candidates for president and vice-president. The candidates were all able to answer all the questions thrown to them. The program ended after the hot “Question-and-Answer Portion”.

Right after the day of the “Miting de Avance” the synchronize election took place. The election this academic year improved. The ballots which were given to the students by the COMELEC Officials are now answered using shading. The students will shade the name of the candidate he’ll vote. The ballots were placed according to their year level. And for a smooth flow election, a line of two was made in order and COMELEC Officials assisted the students. The election took about an hour to finish.

After class hour, the counting of votes started. The COMELEC officials together with some SSG Officers were the ones who count the votes of the students. After about 4 hours, the counting of votes was done and the result was out. The result was then posted the next day.

Then on February 25, the newly elected SSG officers together with the present SSG officers and other teachers of TSHS went to EDSA to show their support and respect to the People Power I.

And on February 28, the newly elected SSG officers were formally announced to the students.
