Why are we doing Student Led
Conferences? The purpose of Student Led Conferences is so the students can tell their parents about what they are doing in school and not the teacher. Students can tell their
parents their own opinion on their work, tell what they liked, what they
would change, and how they feel about different projects.

Coral reefs cover
less than 0.2 % of the
worlds ocean but over
25% different species
of fish live there.
These
Divers are
stepping on
the reef

it.
In 20 years over 30% of coral reefs could be gone.

-the coral reefs are an important ecosystem-many cities depend on the tourists it bring -some people burn coral to make cement-other people take it for jewelry-coral can easily be crushed by an anchor -pollution poisons the reef
Tell others about the
disappearing reefs.
PROTECT THE CORAL!
This coral is dead and
ugly. If you don’t help to
save the reefs, all coral
could look like this.
We made posters to tell
people about the disappearing
coral reefs and how to save them after reading the
story, Dive into the Coral Reefs.

Coral Reefs Poster
I made a poster giving information about the coral reefs and how we can save them. We included pictures and text to tell about the it.
Global and Community Appreciation applies to this project because I showed that I cared about the coral reef by letting people know that it has to be saved. It also shows Solid Foundation of Knowledge because I showed that I knew a lot of facts about the coral reef.
What I would change is I wouldn't over load the poster with information like I did because now that I look back at it it seems like there is too much information. I also would not have put every piece of text on top of a little picture.
Chapter 10 Test
The Chapter 10 test had to do with the
addition and subtraction of
fractions. It shows a lot of progress
because I got only 2 answers right on the pretest and 100% on
the chapter test.

Chapter 10 Test
The test had to do with addition and subtraction of fractions and mixed numbers. The test involved estimating, adding and subtracting fractions, and word problems.
Solid Foundation of Knowledge applies to this piece because on my pretest I got only two answers right, but on my chapter test I got a 100%, which shows that I learned a lot.
This piece deserves to be in my portfolio because it shows a lot of growth from the beginning of the chapter to the end of the chapter.
Spy LetterIn the spy letter project we had to respond to a
spy letter from the American Revolution
with our own spy letters and make it seem real. We had to use a code
method they used in the revolution in our letters
too. I responded to a letter from George Washington to his dentist, Dr. Baker.

Spy Letters
We replied to spy letters from the American Revolution in codes they used back then and had to make them look old. We also had to have information about that time in our letters.
This project shows Solid Foundation of Knowledge because to complete this assignment I had to include facts about the revolution and understand the methods they used for codes. It also shows Effective Communication because we had to effectively communicate facts with a letter through writing.
I am most proud of how I managed to code the information with a mask into the letter without making it obvious that there was a code in it.
Invention Convention Blueprint
For my Blueprint I had to make a
drawing of what I thought my
invention would look like, which I
did on the computer. The
purpose of making the blueprint was to help us to know what to do when we tried to build our inventions.

Invention Convention Blueprint
I had to create a blueprint for my Invention Convention project. I could do it hand drawn or with a computer.
Effective Communication applies to my blueprint because I had to effectively communicate what I thought my invention would look like and what size it would be.
If I could change my blueprint I would make better shots of my 3-D model so that I would use less paper and it would be easier to see the measurements.
