SUGGESTIONS

4. What suggestions do you have that would improve the experience of your project and/or Stand

Together Week as a whole?

Suggestions

Coach your project on-site leads to encourage everyone to stay focused and engaged during the whole work session. We did get feedback from another group of volunteers that there were some volunteers (have no idea if they were from the Timbers group or no), who stood around some and weren't working when they should have been. Just something to be aware of so we can minimize negative perceptions (real or perceived) I imagine it is challenging to get Timbers/Thorns players to all the right places at the right time. If we knew, however, who was coming, even a day or two in advance, we could promote that happening via social media and have even MORE fun. The player that we've had join us seem to authentically enjoy the experience and that makes it so enjoyable for all! It may be easier for children to participate if the activity was scheduled for the week after school gets out. It was disappointing that some players arrived after the largest youth group had left the project. Perhaps my expectations were off but I thought there would be at least stickers / pencils or something small for each volunteer. Timbers staff were awesome and all Timbers representatives joined in the action to remove invasive ivy. The partnership between Friends of Trees, Hands On, City of Tualatin and the Timbers made for a productive and fun event! It would probably be best if we selected a site closer to Portland -- Wilsonville seemed to attract fewer people, despite a redoubled recruitment push on FOT's part. Thanks for your excellent coordination -- always! More resources for the hosting organization. Small grants for supplies, money for a portable restroom, and refreshments. No suggestions. The experience was a great one. Thanks None, it was a great experience! We had trouble with our project (all on our end), but I still think it was a great experience for our staff and program participants, especially to meet a Timbers player. I hope we can participate next year! We really enjoyed the collaboration with HandsOn and the Portland Timbers. We were very pleased to be a project host site and look forward to )hopefully- being included next year.
