On the damp, earthy forest floor a cool, fresh
stream rushed quickly past the towering emergent
trees and over the smooth rocks. Huge boulders lay
silently as moss grew over them like a soft green
coat. Amongst the thick tangle of branches, long
vines hung down loosely making bridges between
the trees.
Write your setting description
Try to include ambitious adjectives, similes,
metaphors and personification. Describe the setting
using all 5 senses.

Activity: Animal Fact File
Instructions: Research an animal that lives in the rainforest and
write a fact file about it. https://www.rainforestanimals.net/
Rainforests are a kind of forest habitat. They are found in warm places, and are full of many tall trees and leafy plants. It’s called ‘rainforest’ because it also gets a lot of rain every year, helping all the plants grow. Because rainforests are warm, wet and dense, they are full of life – millions of different kinds of plants and animals live there, and some haven’t even been discovered yet! It’s important to protect rainforest habitats for all the creatures who live there, and for
humans too; rainforests produce 20% of the oxygen that all of us in the world need to breathe.
Animals that live in rainforests include:
boa constrictor
capybara forest elephant giant anteater jaguar macaw
marmoset poison dart frog sloth spider monkey tapir toucan tree frog
