Locirani su u srcu Panonske nizije, duž transkontinentalnog puta E-75, udaljeni jedan od drugog 40-ak kilome-tara. Prelazak granice je moguć na graničnom prelazu Horgoš – Reske. Smešteni su na pola puta između Beograda i Budimpešte, od kojih su udaljeni oko 200 kilometara, na dva sata vožnje. Sa mađarske strane se stiže novi auto-putem, a iz pravca Srbije modernom saobrać-ajnicom.

S (162 thousand inhabitants), the capital of Csongrád County, is the biggest city of the South Great Plain Region and of South-eastern Hungary, S (107 thousand inhabitants) is the biggest city of North Voivo-dina. ey are 40 km from each other along the E 75 transcontinental road, in the middle of the Pannon Plain. e border point can be found at Röszke – Horgos, half way between Budapest and Beograd, 200 km and two hours from both of them. Szeged and Subotica can be reached on a new highway on the Hungar-ian side and on modern motor roads on the Serbian side.

Szeged története A Tisza és Maros találkozásánál kialakult régi település a római korban Parthiscus néven

jelentős erődítménnyel védte a sószállítások útvonalát. A város területén megtelepedő nomád törzsek váltották egymást. A hunok szállá shelyei, jurtafalvai állhattak a környéken. Az avarokat megdöntő frankok után bolgár, szláv törzsek éltek itt, amikor a szeri országgyűlés alkalmával (a mai Ópusztaszer Anonymus szerint) Árpád fejedelem Ond vezérnek adományozta ezt a területet. Virágzó város fejlődött a só-, fa-, gabona- és borkereskedelem útvonala mentén. Raktárak, át-rakóhelyek, feldolgozó üzemek működtek. 1183-ban említik először Cigeddinként, 1247-ben már bizonyíthatóan város és az ősi részek (Fel-szeged, Palánk és Al-szeged) együvé tartoztak. A vár szerepe a török harcok során megnövekedett, jelentős diplomáciai események és hadseregszer-vezés helyszíne volt ekkor Szeged. A török megszállás 143 éve után osztrákok birtokolják a várat és a város fontos hivatalait. A nyomor miatt zúgolódó lakosság megfékezésére találták ki a „bo-szorkányok” jelenlétének szomorúan valós történetét. Kossuth Lajos 1848-as toborzó beszédekor „Szegednek népe, nemzetem büszkesége” megtisztelő jelzőket akkor is megismételte, mikor 1879. március 12-én, Szent Gergely napjának hajnalán, az egyébként jámbor és szelíd folyó a másik arcát is megmutatta. „Szegedet csak Szeged népe támaszthatja fel!” – írta Kossuth Turinból. A hullám-sírból, a tajtékból új Aphroditéként született meg! Példanélküli hazai, nemzetközi összefogás és az otthonukért, a szülőföld szeretetének legmakacsabb ragaszkodásával mindent megtenni akaró nép hősies munkájának eredményeként épült újjá. A mai palotás város széles sugár- és körútjaival a legmodernebb magyar település.

Tokom sledećih vekova na teritoriji oko naselja smenjuju se nomadski narodi, sve do 896. godine, kada na Serskom saboru (po Anonimu-sovom predanju današnji Opustaser) veliki vezir Arpad predaje okolnu teritoriju na upravljanje veziru Ondu. Naselje svoje bogatstvo stiče trgovinom solju, žitom, vinom i drvom. Današnje na-selje se u pisanim izvorima prvi put spominje u 1183. godini pod imenom Cigedin koji se već od 1247. godine vodi kao grad. Utvrđenje dobija na vojnom značaju tokom borbi sa Turcima, i mesto je dešavanja važnih diplomatskih pregovora. Posle 143 godine turske okupacije utvrđenje prelazi u ruke Austrijanaca. Njihovu vladavinu narod pamti po opštoj nemaštini. Lajoš Košut, 1848. godine, prilikom vrbovanja svoje revolucionarne vojske, građanima se obraća sledećim biranim rečima: „Narode Segedina, diko i ponosu moje nacije”. Tri decenije kasnije, u ranu zoru 12. marta 1879. godine, na dan Sv. Gergelja, Tisa se izliva, i ostavlja za sobom opustošeni grad. Košut – tada u izgnanstvu u Torinu – ponovo šalje poruku građanima: „Samo žitelji grada mogu vaskrsnuti Segedin”. Iz vodene grobnice, kao nova Afrodita, izdiže se preporođeni grad! Uz nezapamćenu domaću i međunarodnu pomoć žitelji ga iz temelja obnavljaju. Današnji grad palata, sa svojim širokim alejama i bulevarima, najlepše je i najmodernije mađarsko naselje.

History of Szeged e old settlement, called Parthiscus in Ro-

man times, formed at the meeting point of the Tisza and the Maros Rivers, served as a guard post to defend the salt delivery lines with its signifi cant fortress. Nomadic tribes settling down on the territory of the town followed one another during the times. e settlements of the Huns with yurt villages may have been found in the area. A er the Franks defeating the Avars, Bulgarian and Slavic tribes were living here when Prince Árpád presented this area to Chie ain Ond during the assembly held in Szer, which is the present Ópusztaszer according to Anonymus, the chronicle writer. A fl ourishing town with storehouses, trans-shipment places and processing plants grew up along the trade routes of salt, wood, grains and wine. e name of the settlement fi rst appeared in documents as Cigeddin in 1183. It is proved that in 1247 it was already regarded as a town and the ancient parts, Upper Szeged, Palánk and Lower Szeged were united. e role of the fortress got emphasized during the fi ghts against the Turks. In those times Szeged was a place of important diplomat-ic events and of organizing the manoeuvres of the army. A er the 143-year Turkish occupation, the fortress and the most important offi ces of the town were owned by the Austrians. e story of witches was found out to bring the people grum-bling about the misery under control. At dawn of Saint George’s Day, 12 March 1879, when the quiet and gentle river showed a diff erent face than before, Lajos Kossuth repeated the honour-able address „ e people of Szeged, the pride of my nation,…”, fi rst said during his recruiting speech in 1848. „Szeged will have to be revived by the people of Szeged!”, he wrote form Turin. e town was born as a new Aphrodite from the waves causing almost its death. It has been rebuilt as a result of national and international co-operation never seen before, along with the work of people clinging to their homes and doing their best for their homeland. e present town with its palaces, wide avenues and boulevards is the most modern settlement in Hungary.

zak Gradske kuće, potom upoznavanje građevina i spomenika na trgu. Slede Karas ulica, Trg Klau-zal gde se vrši kratak osvrt na istoriju razvoja centra grada, čije je nedavno obnavljanje nagrađeno priznanjem „Europa Nostra”. Slede građevine na trgu ispred Segedinskog doma: Biblioteka Šomođi, Dom, Srpska crkva. Obilazak se nastavlja do Trga Ruzvelt: vodomer, statua Đule Juhasa.

T/. S – : susret ispred spomenika Pište Dankoa, razgledanje Trga Štefanija (razgledanje u početku protiče u znaku secesije), Palata Dajč, Palata Grof. Potom slede Reformatska palata, Palata Reek i Palata Ungar-Mejer. Obilazak se završava sa Karas ulicom i Trgom Klauzal.

Szabadka – Palics történeteAz írásos dokumentumok Szabadkát viszonylag későn, 1391-ben említik először Zabatka

néven. Az a tény, hogy az Európát Ázsiával összekötő útvonalak kereszteződésén fekszik, alap-vetően meghatározta a település sorsát. A történelem során a városon számos hadsereg csapatai vonultak át, és területén különböző népek telepedtek le. A XVI. században a város, a korra jel-lemző módon, két részre oszlik: magára a várra és a vár falait körülvevő mezővárosra. A középkori várból mára már csupán a Ferences-rendi kolostor maradt fenn, amely a mai történelmi város-központ magvát képezi. Körülötte fejlődött és napjainkban is fejlődik a város központja. 1779-ben szabad királyi várossá nyilvánították Maria eresiopolis néven. Az újonnan elnyert rang nagyobb önállóságot és jelentős kiváltságokat biztosított a városnak, amely számos kézművest, kisiparost, kereskedőt vonzott magához Közép-Európa egész területéről. A XIX. század végén és a XX. elején, a vasút kiépülésével, Szabadka is bekapcsolódik Európa vérkeringésébe. E korszakra a városiasodás, az építészet virágzása, valamint a gazdaság erőteljes fejlődése jellemző. Multiet-nikai színesség, polgári szellemiség, gazdag művelődési és társasági élet – ezek lettek Szabadka arculatának új ismérvei, melyeket a mai napig gondosan őrzünk és ápolunk. Ez teszi városunkat különlegessé és feledhetetlenné minden látogató számára. A XIX. és a XX. század fordulóján Szabadka egyre inkább kelet felé, Palics irányába terjeszkedik. Festői szépségű környezete és gyönyörű szecessziós épületei révén, Palics elismert üdülőhellyé nőtte ki magát. A fürdő 1845 óta épül, fejlődik. Felismerve a tó vizének és iszapjának gyógyerejét, idővel a hatóságok gyógyfürdővé nyilvánították, megalapozva ezzel a térség idegenforgalmát. Érdekes mozzanat Palics történel-mében az 1880-as Palicsi Olimpia Játékok megrendezése. Városunk neves szülötte, Vermes Lajos, 16 évvel az első modern Olimpia Játékok megtartása előtt, palicsi birtokán sportvetélkedőket szervezett. A résztvevők a kor legkiválóbb sportemberei voltak. Napjainkban a Szabadka Község lakosságának száma meghaladja a 160 ezret (ebből 100 ezer fő él magában a városban). Egységben élnek itt magyarok, szerbek, horvátok, bunjevácok és számos más nemzet tagjai. Szabadka Észak-Bácska közigazgatási, gazdasági és kulturális központja, Palics pedig különleges, perspektív és közkedvelt idegenforgalmi úticél.

ovog mesta bitno je određivao položaj na raskršću Evrope i Azije, kuda su vojske prolazile, a razni narodi ostajali. Karakteristična je podela grada sa početka XVI veka na citadelu i palanku. Od nekadašnje citadele jedini materijalni ostatak je Franjevački samostan koji predstavlja istorijs-ko jezgro grada. Oko ovog jezgra se razvijao i još uvek se razvija gradski centar. Godine 1779. Subotica je dobila status slobodnog kraljevskog grada sa imenom Maria eresiopolis, koji je gradu doneo veću autonomiju i povlastice te privukao preduzimljive seljake, zanatlije i trgovce iz Srednje Evrope. Krajem XIX i početkom XX veka, izgradnjom železničke pruge, započinje proces saobraćajnog povezivanja sa Evropom i nagli ekonomski, urbanistički i graditeljski procvat Su-botice. Grad je danas administrativni, privredni, trgovački i kulturni centar regije. Multietničko nasleđe, građanski duh, bogat kulturni, zabavni i društveni život, prepoznatljivo (i lepo) je lice Subotice, koje se pažljivo neguje i čuva do današnjih dana. To ovaj grad čini posebnim, nezabo-ravnim za svakog posetioca. Na prekretnici XIX i XX veka, Subotica ima snage da gradi Palić, kao kupalište i mondensko letovalište, prepoznatljivo po brojnim pitoresknim vilama i velelepnim secesijskim objektima. Od 1845. godine Palić se gradi i razvija zahvaljujući lekovitoj vodi i mulju, od kada se na ovim prostorima utemeljuje tradicija turizma. Pravi kuriozitet predstavlja činjeni-ca sa kraja XIX veka, tačnije od 1880. godine, kada je poznati Subotičanin Lajoš Vermeš počeo da okuplja brojne sportiste tog vremena radi takmičenja (16 godina pre nego što su obnovljene moderne Olimpijske igre). Danas je Subotica opština sa 160.000 stanovnika (u samom gradu oko 100.000), složna zajednica Mađara, Srba, Hrvata, Bunjevaca i drugih, privredni i kulturni centar Severne Bačke, a Palić je popularno, perspektivno, originalno turističko mesto.

History ofSubotica and Palic

e name of Subotica appeared in docu-ments as Zabatka quite late in 1391. Its geog-raphical position of lying at the crossroads of ways connecting Asia and Europe determined the fate of the settlement. During the times troops of several armies marched through the town and various nations settled down on its territory. In the 16th century the town, following the examples of the era, was divided into two parts, the fortress itself and the agri-cultural town forming outside the walls of the fortress. What remained from the medieval fortress is merely the Franciscan monastery, which serves as the core of the centre today, around which the town has been developing. In 1779 Subotica acquired the status of free royal town and its name was declared Maria eresiopolis. e status guaranteed higher independence and several signifi cant benefi ts; therefore the town attracted a great number of artisans, cra smen and tradesmen from Middle Europe. At the turn of the 19th and the 20th centuries Subotica joined the circulation of Europe thanks to the railway lines reaching the town. At those times the town was ur-banizing, the architecture was fl ourishing, the economy was considerably improving. Multiethnic population, civil mentality, rich cultural and social life became the characte-ristic features of Subotica, which have been conserved and protected so far and that is why the town remains unique and unforgettable in each visitor’s eyes. At the turn of the 19th and the 20th centuries Subotica started to spread east, towards Palić, which has developed into a well-known resort thanks to its picturesque environment and marvelous buildings in art nouveau style. e bath has been improving since 1845. Having recognized the medicinal eff ect of the water and the mud of the lake, the authorities declared the bath as medici-nal bath, which laid down the tourism in the region. It is interesting to mention that Palić organized its Olympics in 1880. Lajos Vermes, a famous citizen of Subotica, organized sport races on his estate in Palic 16 years before the fi rst modern Olympic Games, where the best sportsmen of the time were competing. At present the population of the town of Subotica is over 160 thousand, 100 thousand of whom live in the very town. e population consists of Hungarians, Serbs, Croatians, Bunjevcis and others, who live in harmony in the town. Subotica is the administrative, economic and cultural centre of the North Bačka Region. Palić is a unique and popular centre of tourist attraction.

azonos nevet viselő idegenforgalmi központ a századfordulón neves üdülőhely és gyógy-fürdő volt. Arculata az évek során változott, korszerűsödött, megőrizve egyedülálló vará-zsát, amellyel rabul ejti látogatóit. Szabadkától 12 kilométerre északkeletre helyezkedik el a Ludasi-tó Tájvédelmi Körzet. Az évszázados tanyasorok és a természeti szépségek szerves egységet képeznek, melynek látványa mara-dandó élményt hagy a látogató emlékezeté-ben. A megfáradt turisták és természetjárók számára a környező csárdák – Gulyás Csárda, Szúnyog Csárda, Róka-tanya, Borkastély –kínálnak kellemes pihenőt, felüdülést. Szabad-ka és Horgos között terül el a Szelevényi Pusz-ták Tájvédelmi Körzet, amely a hasonló védett-ségű magyarországi területekkel határos. Az északi homokvidék egyben gazdag vadászte-rület is. Szabadkától 11 kilométerre északra, a Kelebia erdő szélén található az ismert Kelebia Ménes, amely a kecses lipicai lovak tenyésztése folytán tett szert hírnévre.
