Before you unpack!By filling out the current state of your room in a detailed manner, you will avoid charges when you move out for any damages you did not cause.

Complete your Room Condition Form (RCF). You should have received with your move-in materials Return the completed form within 48 hours to your RA or to the Housing office (building 14B)

First night on campus

Once you are all moved in, we ask that students attend your first floor meeting. See signs in our building for location and time details. The meeting is an opportunity for you to meet your floor mates, your Resident Assistant, and be introduced to important Housing information.

Get to know your roommate!

Save yourself from misunderstandings on room expectations during the year. You can meet some of your best friends by being roommates. It is important to be able to communicate effectively in order to get the best results out of any situation. Here are some tips to get you and your roommate started off on the right foot: COMPLETE the Roommate Agreement Form during the 1st week. For Apartment-Style Suites:www.unf.edu/uploadedFiles/sa/housing/resources/UNFApartmentSuitemateAgreement.pdf

For all other rooms:www.unf.edu/uploadedFiles/sa/housing/resources/UNFRoommateAgreement.pdf

Get a copy from our housing website (under “Resident Resources”) or through your RA. Sit down with your roommate(s) to discuss the topics on the form and come to a mutual agreement.Sign the form together and give a copy to your RA.

NOW THAT YOU'RE HERE

Page 10: Summer B 2014 Newsletter

Later, you may find that there are some things that you and your roommate(s) would like to change on the agreement. You can always go back to the form and change it. Just update your RA. If you utilize the Roommate Agreement Form and take the first few days to talk to your roommate about how you would like to work and live together in your room.Always remember: there are staff members available 24/7 to assist you with any concerns or problems you have.

TIPSTO MANAGE CONFLICT

THAT MAY ARISE

If there is a problem, • Talk to the person about what is

wrong • Utilize “I statements” whenever

possible as you discuss the matter with them

• Address the problem and not the person

• Do not get other parties involved in the conflict

IF YOU TALKED TO YOUR ROOMMATE(S) AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN

RESOLVED

Ask the RA to meet with you and your roommate(s) to discuss the concern(s). The RA will help you and your roommate(s) to mediate or offer other resources that are available in Housing.

Laundry

There are laundry facilities located in each building of the Cove and Landing areas. In the Fountains, laundry facilities can be found on each floor of each tower in the knuckle, before the house hallways. These are high efficiency machines that take packs, liquid or dry detergents. You also have the option to utilize your UNF ID Osprey1Card with Ozzie Bucks to pay for your laundry as well. Please go to www.osprey1card.com for further details on how to add value to your Osprey1Card.

UNF also utilizes the LaundryView Monitoring System where residents can monitor their loads and set text reminders when loads of laundry have been completed. Residents can also submit work orders through this system. Please visit www.laundryview.com/lvs.php for more details on this service.
