ATHLETICS ATHLETICS Summer Recreation Summer Recreation Summer Recreation Summer Recreation Swimming Coed Intersquad The Co-ed Swimming Intrasquad meet is a low key opportuni- ty to meet current and future members of the swimming and diving team. We will have an informal meet-and-greet, fol- lowed by a short swim meet. Previous competitive experi- ence is not necessary, but athletes should be safe swimmers in deep water. Feel free to attend without racing if you are new to the sport. This event will be held at the Wheaton College Sports & Recreation Complex, with Coach Ayers. Tennis Coed 1, 2, 3, 4, & High School 1, 2, 3 Do you play tennis? Are you interested in learning how to play? Would you like to learn a sport that you can play your whole life? The WNHS Summer Tennis Camp runs from June 15 to July 17 and offers a total of 7 co-ed classes that range from grades 1-12 and cover all ability levels. We use the WN tennis courts on Morse St. behind the school. Track Meets Coed Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade boys and girls are invited to attend our summer track camp, which will meet from 5:00- 7:00 on June 19, June 26, July 10, and July 17. Each session will feature instruction and competition in one sprint, one jump, and one throwing event. We will meet in the field house. Attendees should wear workout clothes and comfortable running shoes. Beginners are absolutely welcome. The empha- sis will be on having fun while learning the fundamental skills of track and field. Volleyball Boys Skills 1 & 2 Two different boys camps are offered. One course is for current high school athletes and incoming freshman athletes who are interested in trying out for the Boys' Volleyball pro- gram. All skills of the game will be taught and practiced through a mix of individual skill work, team drills and team game play. The second camp is for current middle school athletes who are interested in learning the sport of volleyball or to continue to improve on skills and knowledge they al- ready possess. The camp is structured to help prepare athletes who are interested in trying out for the Wheaton North Boys' Volleyball program in the future. Basic fundamentals, footwork and rules of the game will be introduced and taught. Athletes will meet in the Neibch Gymnasi- um at Wheaton North every day. There are various athletic course offerings at Wheaton North High School for varied

age levels. Listed below is a list of offered classes. Please see

the Wheaton North High School website for more detailed information,

along with online registration information. Dates, fees, and age levels are listed there. If you are an incoming Freshman or a current high school player, we encourage you to attend the camps; many are scheduled before tryouts.

All registration is done online this year. If in need of registration help, please contact the Athletics office at 630-784-7318. Badminton Girls Girls 1 & 2 Badminton camp will take place in the field house Monday through Thursday. Students will learn and practice various skills such as a clear, drop shot, and smash. An hour of camp will be devoted to drills with the second hour being game play. Baseball Boys Hitting 1 & 2, Skills 1 & 2, League Camp Various baseball camps are offered for 5th grade—current players. Programs focus on defensive and offensive aspects of baseball, teaching the fundamentals of hitting, and introducing players to our hitting philosophy. League camp for current players involves games that are played both home and away on Monday through Thursdays. Camp meets each day at Falcon Field, located just north of the stadium. Basketball Boys Little Falcons, Boys 1, 2, 3, 4 Several camps are offered to prepare boys for various levels of play. Little Falcons focuses on fun while learning skills/fundamentals. Basketball 1 has a strong focus on fundamentals, while Basketball 2-4 is for the current high school player or 8th graders trying out for the Freshman team. Please enter through the field house, door 7. Basketball Girls 1, 2, 3, 4

Girls from grades 4-12 meet in four different leveled classes to

cover skills and drills. Several camps are offered to prepare girls for various levels of play. Please enter through the field house, door 7.

Summer Recreation Offerings Cheerleading Varsity & JV Teams Wheaton North cheerleading spends the summer building and developing elite fundamentals in all areas of cheerleading. Cheerleaders learn new stunts, tumbling and their homecoming routine. It is during the sum-mer many new friendships are made and existing friendships are solidified. Summer sessions are crucial for the success of the cheer program.

Cross Country Boys 1 & 2 Boys ages 6-12 start the summer off running in two separate clas-ses. Participants will meet outside of Door 3 in front of Wheaton North. Athletes should come ready to run each day, rain or shine,. This is a great way to get in shape for upcoming sport seasons, especially fall cross-country!

Cross Country Girls 1 & 2 Summer running is imperative to a successful fall cross country season, but is also a great time to build on the friendships (and create new ones) that will last beyond our years at North. Practices combine both current WN Cross Country and Track athletes with our Future Fal-cons at the middle school level. Although both groups practice together, training is individualized based upon experience and current level of fitness. We will meet in the field house daily prior to heading out-doors for practice.

Dance Team 1 The Falconettes dance team will focus on improving technique and learning routines for football season. Dancers attending should have taken part of the spring tryouts. However, if you cannot make the spring tryout and are still interested in the dance team, please contact Coach Churchill with questions at [email protected]. Camp will meet in the small gym. Football Conditioning 1, 2, 3, 4 Several camps are offered to prepare boys for various levels of play. Camp 1 will focus on having fun while developing essential skills for the game of Football. Camp 2 will focus on introducing boys to vari-ous positions and develop skills for the Wheaton Rams season. Football 3&4 will focus on safely teaching the fundamentals of foot-ball. Campers will also begin learning offensive and defensive schemes that will be utilized in the fall. Camp 4 is for returning play-ers. Cleats are recommended but not required for the lower level sessions. All camps meet on Rexilius Field. Golf Boys 1 & 2 Future Pars Golf Camp is designed for golfers of all abilities. Camp is held at Prairie Landing Golf Club rain or shine and will cover full swing, short game, putting, rules and etiquette. Campers are required

to wear a collared shirt. It is recommended that each camper has his own clubs. If you need to borrow clubs please contact Coach Pribaz ahead of time. Golf Girls 1 & 2 This session is open to students entering 7th -12th grade. This camp will take place at Cantigny Golf Course. The Monday ses-sions are at the practice facility splitting time between the short game and driving range areas. The Wednesday sessions are spent playing 9 holes (Cantigny courses may vary). Students will learn course etiquette, course management, and proper swing and short game techniques. Players need clubs and should be dressed in proper attire. Although it is not required, students are encouraged to attend both sessions. Soccer Girls 1 & 2 The Wheaton North girls soccer camp for high school and middle school aged players is geared towards introducing young soccer players to the coaching staff at the high school and offering each player a taste of the competitive environment that they can expect in the program. Summer training sessions, led by members of the staff and former or current players of the program, are focused upon the technical and tactical development of soccer players. Soccer Boys 1, 2, 3, Summer League The Wheaton North boys soccer camp for high school and middle school aged players is geared towards introducing young soccer players to the coaching staff at the high school and offering each player a taste of the competitive environment that they can expect in the program. Summer training sessions, led by members of the staff and former or current players of the program, are focused upon the technical and tactical development of soccer players. Summer league sessions involve opportunities for both returning players and incoming players to WNHS. Older returning players will play games against other local high school summer league teams, additionally, games will be played involving intrasquad com-petition between players planning on trying out for the program in the fall. Softball Skills 1 & 2 Camp will provide each camper with ways to increase her knowledge of the game, develop her personal skill level and teach her techniques for the im-provement of her overall game. The daily camp sessions will revolve around individual skills, offensive techniques, defensive techniques, team skills, and game competition. Camp will meet at the Varsity Softball Field located behind Wheaton North High School.
