Summer School “Spanish Law, Politics and Economics” (30 June-11 July, 2014)
Presentation
The Summer School "Spanish Law, Politics and Economics" is organized by the Faculty of Law
at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Its aim is to provide students with an introductory
knowledge of some aspects of the Spanish legal, political and economic reality.
The lectures will be complemented by daily visits to institutions or other activities such as the
discussion of practical cases related to the different topics comprising the course.
The lectures will be taught in English.
Destinataries
The Summer School is addressed especially to foreign students from any field of study or
profession who wish to become acquainted with basic current aspects of the Spanish legal,
political and economic reality, and acquire first-hand knowledge of some of the basic
political institutions in Spain. Spanish students interested in the course are also welcome to
apply.
It is necessary to have a good knowledge of the English language (level B2 is advisable).
ECTS credits
Students can achieve 3 ECTS upon attending the sessions, participating in the scheduled
activities and passing the evaluation tests.
Venue
Faculty of Law at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Cantoblanco). In the mornings, the
lectures will take place at different places in Madrid.
The University is 15 Kms. far from the center of Madrid and is very well communicated by bus
and train. As an example, from the center of Madrid (Puerta del Sol) it takes 20 minutes by
train to get to the campus.

Schedule
9:00-13:00 h. Lecture and cultural activities at emblematic places in Madrid.
13:00-17:00 h. Free time (a summer pass to the UAM swimming pool is included in the fees).
17:00-19:00 h. Lecture at Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM).
Number of students
Maximum of 40 students. The Summer School requires a minimum of 10 students enrolled in
order to be celebrated.

28 April Confirmation and start of travel arrangements
Fees
The fee for the two weeks is 525 euros.10% of the students enrolled will receive a scholarship
covering the fees. Only those already enrolled can apply for a scholarship.
Housing
Those interested can stay at Colegio Mayor Juan Luis Vives from 29 June till 13 July. This
residence is located in downtown Madrid (near Plaza de Castilla).
It is a 5-10 minute walk to the stations where buses and trains depart for the University
campus. It takes about 20-30 minutes to get to the University from the residence.
The prices per person, staying in a double room with shared bathroom are 346 € (from 29
June to 13 July, breakfast and dinner included), or 30 €/day (breakfast and dinner
included). These prices are not included in the fees.
