On the feast

Jesus is giving each of us an invitation to live a life of multiplication, taking what we have and trusting ourselves to Him. This begins with offering to God what we have and then give him thanks for what he is about to do.

for your family; your fellow parishioners; the shut-ins or those in hospital; those seeking God’s guidance or rejoicing with God’s favour; or for those celebrat-ing a birthday or anniversary; or have been called to their eternal reward or for the family they leave behind.

Please remember to pray daily for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

РОЗДУМИ НАД СВЯТИМ ПИСЬМОМ

Євангеліє від Матея 14, 14-22 Апостол 1 Коринтян 1, 10-18.

Ісус зціляє недужих в пустині. І тут він не запитує їх про їхню віру, а зціляє їх. Чому? Бо сам факт, що люди пішли за Ісусом аж до пустинного місця свідчить про їхню віру в Нього. Спаситель знав, що люди були вже голодні, але мовчав. Тобто Бог хоче, щоб ми довіряли Йому і прибігали до Нього із нашими немочами. І раптом апостоли просять Ісуса відпустити народ: А Ісус сказав їм: "Не треба їм відходити: дайте ви їм їсти”(Мт. 14, 17). Знову ж, Ісус хоче ініціативи від апостолів. Дуже легко втекти від проблем, а важче їх розв’язати. І учні принесли п’ять хлібів і дві риби. Варто наголосити, що апостоли не були скупими і егоїстами. Вони віддали всю їжу, могли якось на дванадцять її розділити, а тут п’ять тисяч, і то лише самих чоловіків…

Христос звів очі на молитву до Небесного

Отця і відбулося чудесне помноження їжі.

Звичайно, Ісус як Бог міг нагодувати людей і

без молитви, але тут Він показує Свою Любов і

рівність із Отцем Небесним. Господь вчить

нас, що Божа Любов здатна на все: воскрешати

померлих, прощати гріхи, зцілювати,

годувати… Лише треба вірити Богові. АМІНЬ.

Ice Cream

Last week, I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed

our heads, he said, "God is good. God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all! Amen!"

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!"

Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?" As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table.

He winked at my son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer." "Really?" my son asked. "Cross my heart." Then, in a theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman.

With a big smile, he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

Заповіді ТЕЛЕВІЗОРА

У нашому житті існують закони. Їх є багато, і вони різноманітні. Життя на землі без законів було би неможливим ні у природі, ні у суспільстві людей. Кожен з нас живе згідно певних законів. Ніби все ясно, але залишається лише один сумнів: з гідно яких саме законів живе кожен з нас зокрема? Буває так, що ми живемо згідно деяких законів, що, навіть, не зауважуємо у щоденному житті. Подумайте над цими заповідями, може ви також живете згідно них?Нехай я буду першим, що має бути в домі і нехай я буду головним, хто має бути в сім’ї.

Нехай я стану центром уваги зажди і : у сім’ї, у колі друзів, на місці праці.

Не забувай мене ніколи.

Ні тоді, коли відпочиваєш, працюєш, їси, святкуєш чи засинаєш.

Шануй мене сам і домагайся цього від інших.

Нехай я ніколи не стану причиною сварок. Тому, нехай кожний має свій власний телевізор, і дивиться його, коли бажає і що бажає.

Не обманюй самого себе, коли думаєш, що немає цікавої програми. Пам’ятай про можливість мати більше каналів через супутник чи кабель, і тоді ти завжди зможеш знайте те, що тобі до вподоби.

Пам’ятай, що ти не зможеш бути таким цікавим, захоплюючим, як я. Ніколи не зможеш дати стільки інформації, як я. Тому, доручай мені виховання своїх дітей від ранку до вечора.

Ніколи не ставай перед вибором: телевізор чи щось інше. Пам’ятай: те, що не побачиш сьогодні, можеш не побачити ніколи.

Не впадай у відчай, коли зломився телевізор. Пам’ятай: чим швидше придбаєш інший, тим швидше повернеться радість.

Не прирікай себе на одинокість – телевізор твій друг, котрий чекає тебе завжди. Нехай стане ворогом кожен, хто посягне на цю дружбу.

Якщо ви не провинилися супроти цих заповідей, тоді зробіть висновок: від кого залежить ваше життя і хто у ньому на

PRAYER FOR OUR PARISH

Lord Jesus Christ, You are the head of the church, You are the head of

our congregation. Grant us through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin

Mary, that we may look upon each other with love and understanding,

offer comfort and help to one another.

Care for the sick, enlighten the disbelievers, support the weak, awaken

the drowsy, thaw the cold and halfhearted, lead the seekers. Help us

Bishop Bryan Bayda will make an important presentation during the Divine Liturgy on August 27 about the significance of Our Lady of Guadalupe for our lives today. Parishioners of St. George's Cathedral will hear about the message that Our Lady of Guadalupe has for indigenous people around the world. This presentation will help us to understand the relevance of Our Lady for all of us, especially as our Parishioners reach out to our neighbours, the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
