How do you study for your classes and
tests?
“Yeah, I use it [my iPod] for research. On the internet…for
instance, it’s much more easier to use a device instead of (a)
laptop. Adam, HCC Student
…when I used to study, I would
usually not study -only what ten, fifteen minutes ‘cause I would get bored. But with Quizlet, [on iPad] they have all these cool
games to help you so it doesn’t really feel like you’re studying.”
Edwina, HCC Student
Do you use your device to study certain topics for any of your classes?
…I sometimes practice the math with the different math apps that I have. ‘Cause next semester I’m gonna be taking math. So I figured I would practice it now, so that way when I get to math I kinda know what the subject is about. Edwina, HCC Student

Do you use the device to make your life easier? How?
“The internet. Because before I had a hard time looking up things that I didn’t know. Cause then, even though I was at home, I couldn’t go on the computer. So now I actually have something…that I can actually look up on my device.” Melody, HCC Student
How do you take notes or remember what you
learned in class?
“Well usually I just mostly write notes on it [iPad]. Sometimes, my teacher will let us write what notes she took on the board -she’ll let us take a picture of it... So usually I sometimes take a picture of it, -of what the assignment is so that …I don’t always have to write everything down.” Edwina, HCC Student

What kinds of things do you use the Internet for on your device?
“Sometimes I go on that for communication…To send emails. Because it’s really a step forward to college. I use this mail, send those emails to them and then you know those communications between me and myUH, and I send it to the instructors” Adam, HCC Student
Do you use the device to make your life easier? How?
“Right now I’m, I feel like, time management skills. The thing helped me organize too, organizing skills. I think I don’t need to …put out the book to write. I can just grab this device and write what I feel, -how I feel about myself. Adam, HCC Student
