How to set up Google Voice Google Voice is a telephone service that provides call forwarding and voicemail services, voice and text messaging, as well as U.S. and international call termination for Google Account customers. This is a great way for instructors or employees to contact each other without distributing their personal phone numbers. Below are instructions to create a Google Voice account. Note that you will be unable to create an account using your distict issued GAFE account. First open Google Chrome and navigate to https://voice.google.com

On the main landing page select “For Personal Use.”

If setting up on a computer select “Web”:

Sign in with your PERSONAL Google account. You will not be able to create or use a Google Voice account with your district issued GAFE account. If you are already signed into your GAFE account you will be prompted to switch accounts. Select “Use another account” to sign in to your personal Google Account:

Once signed in choose an available Google Voice number by choosing a nearby City or typing in an area code. Press the SELECT button once you’ve chosen a number:

In order to verify you will need to input a verification code. Enter the Personal phone number you would like your Google Voice calls forwarded to, and select Send Code:

Enter the six-digit code you received via text message and select Verify:

Select Claim and/or Finish to finish setup:

Congratulations! You’ve got a Google Voice number. For quick reference, the number appears in the “Call As” field above the dial pad on the Google Voice page.
