Hi Everyone,

Merry, Merry Christmas to all! The Holiday Party at DiNolfo’s was a huge success. The food, entertainment, décor, door prizes, all made for a perfect evening. The karaoke from our own Lago Ladies was hilarious. Nancy Burns, Judy Ripke, Karen Hunsaker, and Pauline Plica kept the party cooking. Thanks to our M.C Art Hunsaker and to Nancy Burns who did our invocation. Also our President, Tony Lostroscio wished everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Ruth and Harry Kennedy were also very, very helpful with this party. Thanks to all!

The December Pizza Birthday Night, brought in a packed house. We also had a guest appearance by Santa, our very own Charlie Hart. The Activity Committee presented the staff with a monetary Christmas gift thanking them for all their help. A standing ovation for Marilyn Kintz and Edie Krupinski for chairing this event this year. Our new chairmen for 2017 will be Marianne Papiernik and Angie Brennan.

Grandparents Day was so much fun! Joe Dalpiaz was Santa and the children jumped with joy. Crafts, games, singing and great food from Pizza Hut were all a big part of this fun day. Thanks to Debbie & Jerry Obler, Marge Gofron, Diane Johnston, Pat Ryan, Loretta Kelty, and to Karen and Art Hunsakers’ granddaughter Madeline. We hope to do it again next year.

Judy Cimarolli and her committee did such a nice job on the Holiday Bunco Party. A good time was had by all. Thanks to everyone.

Book: Worth Brown’s Daughter

Author: Phillip Margolin One of a handful of lawyers in the new state of Oregon, recently widowed Matthew Penny agrees to help Worthy Brown, a newly freed slave, rescue his fifteen year old daughter, Roxanne, from their former master, a powerful Portland lawyer. Worthy's lawsuit sets in motion events that lead to Worthy's arrest for murder and create an ago-nizing moral dilemma that could send either Worthy or Matthew to the hangman. At the same time, hanging judge Jed Tyler, a powerful politician with a barren personal life, becomes infatuated with a beautiful gold-digger who is scheming to murder Benjamin Gillette, Oregon's wealthiest businessman. When Gillette appears to die from natural causes, Sharon Hill produces a forged contract of marriage and Tyler must decide if he will sacrifice his reputation to defend that of the woman who inspired his irrational obsession. At Worthy's trial, Matthew reveals a stunning courtroom surprise and his attempt to stop the deadly fortune hunter ends in a violent climax. (From the publisher.)

Neighbors Welcoming Neighbors Committee (NWNC)

Hello Lago Vista Neighbors. The NWNC is asking for your help. When you see a new neighbor mov-ing into our community, please call Judy Cimarolli, Chairperson for NWNC at 815-552-3448. This will be greatly appreciated so the committee, along with each of you, can inform our new neigh-bors of how great it is to live here in Lago Vista. Please also inform Judy when someone moves out of our community. Thank You from the NWNC.

If anyone is interested in joining our committee please contact Judy Cimarolli.

Did you Know? Winter Reminders

• Roads will be plowed after it stops snowing and 2 inches of snowfall has accumulated, per our contract. • The gates may be in an upright position at times to allow snow plows access to our roads. • ALWAYS use caution when approaching the gates, but particularly in inclement weather. Clear your walkways for shoveling.

Make sure your walkways are clear of wires and all objects such as Christmas lights,

Christmas decorations, Malibu lights etc.

Follow these 10 tips to make sure you’re staying safe when walking around in snowy and icy conditions:

1. Walk slowly and carefully. Wear boots or other slip-resistant footwear.

2. Use special care when getting in and out of vehicles. Use the vehicle for support if you need to do so.

3. Watch for slippery floors when you enter any building or home.

4. Try to avoid carrying items, or walking with your hands in your pockets; this can reduce your ability to catch yourself if you lose your balance. Instead, carry a back-pack if you have one.

5. Watch out for black ice.

6. Tap your foot on potentially slick areas to see if the areas are slippery.

7. Walk as flat-footed as possible in very icy areas.

8. Avoid uneven surfaces if possible. Avoid steps or curbs with ice on them.

9. Report any untreated services to Maintenance and Facili-ties. Help us keep you safe!

10. Remember: Ice and snow mean take it slow!

Fitness/ Workout Room

Reminder: NO STREET SHOES ARE ALLOWED. A second pair

of clean gym shoes are required to be brought in to wear in the fitness center. Dirt and snow salt are very hard on our gym equipment. Also please remember to use antibacterial wipes to wipe down all equipment that you have used.

Thanks in advance
