Recognition of Excellence : Congratulations to past student Mark Byron on his academic achievement award from Deakin University. The award Mark was presented is the Geelong Law Association Prize for 'Best Student in MLL111 Contract Law'. The award recognises excellence across all campuses of Deakin University.

Mark will also be presented with the Best First Year student in Bachelor of Laws, Deakin University - Warrnambool Campus, in July this year at Warrnambool.

It is a real pleasure to see our students progressing so well once they leave their secondary education. Well done Mark.

General Achievement Test (GAT) : The GAT takes place on Tuesday 7 June here at school and all students engaged in a unit 3 / 4 study are required to participate unless they are exempted by VCAA, after an application from the school principal. All students are expected to e in full uniform. The emphasis on this test is in the word ‘general’ as it is a measure of student general knowledge in a variety of areas of study. The results of the GAT can be used later in the year if there is some reason a student is unable to perform to their best in final exams. The GAT is a compulsory ‘insurance policy’ that all students should do their best in. Students were given a briefing and instructions at a level assembly last week to help prepare them for the day.

General Assembly : We are having our next whole school assembly on Wednesday 8 June in the school gym-nasium. We will be introducing our international students, hearing from the SRC, getting a report about centenary celebrations and hearing from our primary students about their fancy hat theme day last week. Parents and friends are welcome to join us.

100 Year Anniversary : There are only two weeks left before our celebration on Saturday 11 June. Advertising has been placed in the local media and preparations are well underway for the day. I am pleased to say that we will be hearing from our fledgling alumni association on the day. Past students have been asking about such a group and I hope that they will now reward the organisers with their participation. I look forward to seeing people at school on Saturday 11 June.

Reports : I would like to remind our community that in keeping with our announcements earlier this year staff have been forwarding ‘learning tasks‘ to parents and students using our student management system Compass. These learning tasks provide a snapshot of the work required in class and will have been assessed and reported back using Compass as well, giving parents and students and ongoing idea of progress during semester I. As a result of this new process the lengthy semester reports we have come to expect will not be provided this year. There will be a short report on Compass but most comments will have already been made during the semester. The report will again be on the Compass system and if hard copies are desired these can be printed at home. If families are not able to print then we can do so in response to a phone call to school requesting a paper copy of the report.

Long Weekend : The weekend of Saturday 11 June is also the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. There will be no school on Monday 13 June. Normal classes will resume on Tuesday 14th June

Baimbridge College Website (www.baimbridge-co.vic.edu.au): I would like to remind parents that Baimbridge College has a website and I encourage parents to familiarise themselves with it as it contains a very comprehensive list of school information

Compass : Our online student management system, Compass, has been enhanced this year. Parents should have their own personal log on which is different to their son or daughter’s. The system is accessible anywhere the internet is available on computer, smart phone, tablet or other mobile device. The website is https://baimbridge-co.vic.jdlf.com.au/login.aspx If you require more information accessing the system please contact the school. There is a link on our website to help you should you forget the address.

If there are any questions or concerns I urge parents and guardians to contact myself, our Assistant Principals Mr John Hill and Miss Rosemary Morgan or the relevant Co-ordinators.
