Together: Supporting and HealingCOVID-19 is an unprecedented crisis. In the present world, hardly anyone can recount any precedence of a pandemic of such ferocity and global proportions.

MSME INSIDER May 2021 1

and Healing COVID-19 is an unprecedented crisis. In the present world, hardly anyone can recount any precedence of a pandemic of such ferocity and global proportions. Nonetheless, Government of India rose to the occasion in time and successfully handled the first wave of the virus, quite effectively. Some measures, like countrywide lockdown, might appear harsh in the hindsight, but they yielded good results in controlling the spread of virus. Subsequent wide-scale public awareness program, improvement in healthcare management with enhanced medical infrastructure facilities like ventilators etc. helped the country rebound early in good shape.

The country was hardly breathing easy, when the second wave with a new far more virulent mutant struck the nation. Despite a better preparedness than before in terms of superior healthcare facilities, administration of vaccine to a large population above 60 years of age along with the frontline workers, the second wave of the pandemic challenged the nation much more severely. Not only did the count of infected persons rose in record numbers, but death toll sadly also went up very high. While Government of India left no stone unturned to mitigate the crisis, a new force of compassion has appeared as savior of humanity,

The force of people’s participation in helping one another. The neighbours, the frontline warriors, and the civil society did not shy away from extending the hand of help even in these hard times when no one is immune to danger. People came ahead with whatever sinews they had and helped their suffering brethren in need.Whether the need was related with medical care or monetary support – people stood like rock to ward off every challenge which reinforces the importance of community, solidarity and coming together in the face of adversity.

Together : Supporting

This downpour of kindness and sympathy, compounded with Central and State Governments endowments, provided much ease to fight the crisis.

Though government financial packages played a big role in reviving the slowing economy. But many MSME sector companies also contributed to serve the society in their own way. They started mass production of sanitizers, masks, PPE kit and many such Covid-essentials, which made India atmanirbhar in these commodities.

The Ministry of MSME has been up to the task since last April, offering the MSME sector a series of incentives like allocating amount of Rs. 3 lakh crore to help MSMEs in this crisis. This initiative acted as seed money for small businesses to start all over again via purchasing raw materials, paying initial bills and wages to workers etc. and took full guarantee of all Rs. 3 lakh crore and need no collateral for this loan, especially for MSMEs . The government also infused Rs. 50,000 crores as equity to MSMEs as fund of funds, considered as mother fund and a few daughter funds in order to increase the capacity as well as size of MSMEs. Global tenders upto Rs. 200 were offered to MSMEs only . MSMEs definition was also redefined based on investment as well as their turnover. All these were offered to give a big boost to the sector.

Social solidarity has reduced the pangs of pandemic to a great extent. The idea of togetherness must be promoted as an effective tool to fight such a serious crisis. An individual can endure the pain and suffering of the pandemic only if the whole society stands together with determination to offer the healing touch.

“FUMIGATION WITHOUT CHEMICALS WITH GermiBAN”

Ms. Srivalli Sirisha

Ms. Volga Karnam spent a lot of time coming up with an amicable solution to save the post-harvest perishables waste of farmers, by dehydrating and enhancing their shelf life by using solar sources in a hygienic environment with new techniques, guidance and support from AIC ALEAP WE-HUB (Atal Incubation centre supported by AIM NITI AAYOG, GoI). Graduated from Nagarjuna University, and now the proprietor of ARKA Foods, Ms. Volga Karnam has demonstrated that woman entrepreneurs are second to none.

ARKA Foods, within two years of the time span marred by the pandemic, developed solar dehydrated fruits and Fruit leathers (Ready to eat), vegetables (Ready to cook), and leafy vegetables (Ready to Mix with all kinds of food grains). ARKA products are time saving and easily consumable, particularly for children and for all age groups in general, with high nutritional values. All these products are improved to meet the requirements and needs of office-goers. These products are considered ideal in the changing Indian lifestyle.

Ms. Srivalli Sirisha is a commerce Graduate, having 23 years of experience in the Production & Administrative Departments & well versed with the manufacturing facilities. She set her eyes on the alternatives for Fumigation and sterilization of Hospitals & Operation Theatres. Normally, Operation Theatres are being fumigated with carcinogenic chemicals like formaldehyde, carbolic acid etc. So, she launched Neo inventronix Pvt Ltd, which was initially incubated at Atal Incubation Centre. The company developed GermiBAN, which is a “Make in India” product termed as best product by NITI Aayog, GOI. The Product was tested on live Corona Virus and certified by CCMB, Hyderabad with the support from AIC ALEAP WE-Hub. GermiBAN is safe on human and sterilizes Air & surfaces without chemicals.

“Our strength is in design, development and manufacturing of specialty medical, hospital equipment which can contain and remove all kinds of pathogens, viruses and bacteria from the closed spaces. The product is most effective for Isolation Wards, Hospitals, ICUs, OTs, Burn Wards, Courier warehouses, Animal houses etc. The products can be termed as super sterilizers which cut the cross contamination and make the environment pleasant.” informs Ms. Srivalli Sirisha.

Ms. Sirisha believes in the power of woman entrepreneurship and strives for better social cause.
