The company started with three employees in 1977, and today boasts a family of 55,000 people around the globe. During the early years in Charlotte, North Carolina, Founder John Sykes realized that SYKES was much bigger than just a company and place of work – it was an actual family working together to make each day better than the one before.

Chuck Sykes, President and CEO, has continued to cultivate a culture of caring in everything that we do. After all, it’s what family is all about.

1977John Sykes boldly starts

his own engineering firm, SEI, in Charlotte,

North Carolina.

1978 – 1980John finishes SEI's first headquarters building.

He starts SEI's relationship with IBM by lending space to their engineers working to

build a large manufacturing plant in Charlotte.

1993John moves the headquarters

to Tampa, Florida. Rapid growth leads to acquisitions

and a global presence.

1980sIn providing illustrations for IBM user

manuals, John notices a 1-800 number. Customers call the number for support to

understand the manuals. This catapulted a new idea, business model and focus for SEI: Consumer Technical Support - Call Centers.

1996John takes the company

public. SYKES expands rapidly to ensure dependability in

following through on time and on budget, treating employees

like family, and making a di�erence in communities.

2004Chuck Sykes is

appointed President and CEO, leading the company around the purpose of helping people, one caring

interaction at a time.

2010SYKES acquires ICT group, a

highly regarded company with more than 20 years in the

customer contact management industry targeting global brands.

2017SYKES turns 40.

That's forty years of helping people, one caring interaction at a time. Here's to the

next 40 years!

2016SYKES acquires Clearlink,

combining Clearlink's digital marketing, demand generation,

and sales conversion model with SYKES' post-sales customer

care and support capabilities.

2015SYKES acquires Qelp, a company

whose self-service platform delivery model helps clients create more of an e�ortless customer experience

by serving customers in their channel of choice.

2012SYKES acquires Alpine Access,

creating di�erentiation in the categories of quality, speed to market,

scalability and flexibility, with the integration of home-based agents.
