Choice based Credit System (CBCS)

Scheme and course structure for M.A. Islamic Studies 1st semester effective from academic session 2014 and onwards

CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS)

Brief Guidelines 1. A credit means one hour of teaching work or two hours of practical work/tutorial per week

for 16 weeks in a semester. 2. A candidate compulsorily has to obtain 24 credits per semester i.e., 48 credits in one year

programme (2 semesters), 96 credits in two year programme (4 semesters), 144 credits in three year programme (6 semesters) and so on. However, a candidate compulsorily has to obtain 2/4/6 credits from general / open elective from outside the Department in one/two/three years courses respectively.

3. A candidate has to obtain minimum of 24 credits in a semester; 12 credits compulsorily are to be opted from “Core Courses”, while the remaining 12 credits can be obtained in either of the following two ways:

� All the 12 credits can be obtained from within the Department or Faculty from a pool of “Electives (Allied)” offered by the Department/Faculty. However, a minimum of 4 credits from Electives (Open) are to be obtained by a candidate from outside the Department in any semester while persuing the programme; or

� 8 credits can be obtained from the “Electives (Allied)” while 4 credits can be obtained from “Electives (Open)” from outside the Department.

4. A candidate has a provision to go with a slow pace of as low as 20 credits per semester or with an accelerated pace of as high as 28 credits per semester, so as to earn minimum required 96 credits in 2-year programme (4 semesters).

Choice based Credit System (CBCS) Scheme and course structure for

M.A. Islamic Studies 2nd semester effective from academic session 2014 and onwards

CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS) Brief Guidelines

1. A credit means one hour of teaching work or two hours of practical work/tutorial per week for 16 weeks in a semester.

2. A candidate compulsorily has to obtain 24 credits per semester i.e., 48 credits in one year programme (2 semesters), 96 credits in two year programme (4 semesters), 144 credits in three year programme (6 semesters) and so on. However, a candidate compulsorily has to obtain 2/4/6 credits from general / open elective from outside the Department in one/two/three years courses respectively.

3. A candidate has to obtain minimum of 24 credits in a semester; 12 credits compulsorily are to be opted from “Core Courses”, while the remaining 12 credits can be obtained in either of the following two ways: � All the 12 credits can be obtained from within the Department or Faculty from a

pool of “Electives (Allied)” offered by the Department/Faculty. However, a minimum of 4 credits from Electives (Open) are to be obtained by a candidate from outside the Department in any semester while persuing the programme; or

� 8 credits can be obtained from the “Electives (Allied)” while 4 credits can be obtained from “Electives (Open)” from outside the Department.

4. A candidate has a provision to go with a slow pace of as low as 20 credits per semester or with an accelerated pace of as high as 28 credits per semester, so as to earn minimum required 96 credits in 2-year programme (4 semesters).

Choice based Credit System (CBCS) Scheme and course structure for

M.A. Islamic Studies 3rd semester effective from academic session 2015 and onwards

CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS)

Brief Guidelines 1. A credit means one hour of teaching work or two hours of practical work/tutorial

per week for 16 weeks in a semester. 2. A candidate compulsorily has to obtain 24 credits per semester i.e., 48 credits in

one year programme (2 semesters), 96 credits in two year programme (4 semesters), 144 credits in three year programme (6 semesters) and so on. However, a candidate compulsorily has to obtain 2/4/6 credits from general / open elective from outside the Department in one/two/three years courses respectively.

3. A candidate has to obtain minimum of 24 credits in a semester; 12 credits compulsorily are to be opted from “Core Courses”, while the remaining 12 credits can be obtained in either of the following two ways:

� All the 12 credits can be obtained from within the Department or Faculty from a pool of “Electives (Allied)” offered by the Department/Faculty. However, a minimum of 4 credits from Electives (Open) are to be obtained by a candidate from outside the Department in any semester while persuing the programme; or

� 8 credits can be obtained from the “Electives (Allied)” while 4 credits can be obtained from “Electives (Open)” from outside the Department.

4. A candidate has a provision to go with a slow pace of as low as 20 credits per semester or with an accelerated pace of as high as 28 credits per semester, so as to earn minimum required 96 credits in 2-year programme (4 semesters).

Choice based Credit System (CBCS) Scheme and course structure for

M.A. Islamic Studies 4th semester effective from academic session 2015 and onwards

CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS)

Brief Guidelines 1. A credit means one hour of teaching work or two hours of practical work/tutorial per

week for 16 weeks in a semester. 2. A candidate compulsorily has to obtain 24 credits per semester i.e., 48 credits in one

year programme (2 semesters), 96 credits in two year programme (4 semesters), 144 credits in three year programme (6 semesters) and so on. However, a candidate compulsorily has to obtain 2/4/6 credits from general / open elective from outside the Department in one/two/three years courses respectively.

3. A candidate has to obtain minimum of 24 credits in a semester; 12 credits compulsorily are to be opted from “Core Courses”, while the remaining 12 credits can be obtained in either of the following two ways: � All the 12 credits can be obtained from within the Department or Faculty from a

pool of “Electives (Allied)” offered by the Department/Faculty. However, a minimum of 4 credits from Electives (Open) are to be obtained by a candidate from outside the Department in any semester while persuing the programme; or

� 8 credits can be obtained from the “Electives (Allied)” while 4 credits can be obtained from “Electives (Open)” from outside the Department.

4. A candidate has a provision to go with a slow pace of as low as 20 credits per semester or with an accelerated pace of as high as 28 credits per semester, so as to earn minimum required 96 credits in 2-year programme (4 semesters).
